They had released the car to Fred, but he never dealt with it because the car is not worth repair. NHSP then took the car back into evidence because the case changed to disappeared under suspicious circumstances.

There were 4 black gloves found in the car, 1 pr. turned out to be Maura's and the other pr. were larger and most likely not Maura's. The larger pr. were confirmed not to be either freds or billys.

Those gloves were brought up and talked about many many times along with the rag in the tailpipe. There has NEVER been any mention about a men's pair of gloves also being found in the car. Does anyone else besides me find this beyond strange? Why wasn't there any mention about this Columbo? Why are you bringing this up now after all these years? ODD. first i have heard of it... where is WW ? and now its "confirmed" they are NOT fred's or billys.......... i dont buy it.. to mention it now.... that saddens me for the family too.

The gloves WERE LARGER but still may have been for a women, not necessarily for a man. Unless there was a tag inside indicating that.
Sorry about the misprint on that.

K9, Thanks for that clarification. So, basically the extra pair of gloves could have been for a man or for a woman. Also, it could be ruled out that this extra pair belonged to either Maura, Billy or Fred Murray. So what does leave us with? That a man or woman MIGHT possibly have been in the car when it skidded off rte 112 near the Weathered Barn, or that some other person, man or woman excepting Fred Murray or Billy, drove the Saturn in Amherst, where Maura apparently was loath to drive it herself due to the car not being reliable. So, could this other possible person, man or woman, with access to the Saturn conceivably have been involved in the Vasi hit and run in Amherst, shortly before Maura received the upsetting phone call while working the security desk at one of the UMass dorms?

Maybe we should ask about everything that was in the car, eh? Anne, was it you who thought that Fred picked the glove for a scent object? And not to you Anne, but if Fred for example saw the other alleged pair of gloves, what would he think? Something like, hey, Maura didn't really wear gloves, these look pretty big, wonder if they're Billy's. And then ask Billy.....and maybe both together might push for tests on the gloves instead of claiming a dirt bag grabbed her. Maura is right down the road in Freds mind when police arrive. A dirtbag grabbed her whether she wanted to get in a different car or not and YET, this "dirtbags" gloves are over younder in Maura's car. Uh, huh, sounds fishy to me too. It would be nice to know if these were in with the tools and such in the trunk, or laying in the back as someone else has wondered. And unless they were up front and center, I agree it's just odd to even make something more out of it. That family would have been sorely wrong to keep something like that to themselves. I think Sharon would have mentioned it. Maybe Helena would have too (if they knew). Keeping this from the very people that were asked to help would be odd too. Billy said to Sharon, "Mom, I think she's no longer with us"........ If having another set of gloves in that car,(implyed at first to be mens and changed to: larger than the other pair that were a gift) were a real issue, why wouldn't they holler at the moon?

You state that they were larger. How do you know that and not know if they're for a man or a women or have a tag inside? You're starting to contradict yourself.

Well, and did they also conclude that they were not Kathleen or Tim"s gloves, and so on down the line to the people at UMASS?
If it matters, it would be nice to have the insight as to the significance of two pair of gloves, like where each were found, why it matters and what they think of it.
Wiki is open for anyone to update. I hope those with the missing info, if ok to say here, will add any and all info to the timeline. The timeline from MM & MMM was really handy. Wish I'd've saved it. There told of Kathleen interviewing the neighbors, talking with Butch

WW hasn't been here for awhile. She was chased off by the very people she was spending her time trying to help. I don't remember word for word but the gist of it was that she was getting information that some didn't think she should have. They claimed that if she was getting it from her "in" with the PD that whoever was giving it to her could be in trouble. Instead of being appreciative for any bit of information that she was giving them they kicked her in the as* until she finally left. Sad as she was a great contributer.

Because as I recall, WW made a post on Advocate's Forum saying Quija received a phone call from a mysterious poster from Topix and that was the reason she (WW) would no longer be posting on topix. Later that day, when Quija announced the call, she said that this poster got her number off of the caller ID after Quija had called for a "wellness check" on said poster. Quija never named the poster who called her, but followers of the forum will remember that during one of Beagle's prolonged absences, there was much talk about calling him for a "wellness check".

I know about the wellness check and will speak on behalf of Quija because she is out of town until Monday. This happened way at the start of topix - before I ever got here.... and yes the person did call Quija and that was that......... had nothing to do with WW and for sure not to do with WW leaving it was long before I ever came to the forum.. its a mute issue.

I think Wowzer clearly described what happened. And we all saw that happen before our own eyes. we all know its true and sad. a shame she was a great contributer. That was our one "in" close to the investigation. she shared photos with us - and her family owns the garage where the car was towed cant get closer than that. sad. WW if you are there please come back. I sent you an email but I think the email address is old. I am still at the same old email.. write me.

Quija is not the issue here....she has been an intelligent, resourceful, polite contributor. truth is, Maura is also not the principal subject, if she ever was, after the first year following her disappearance. terrible damage has been caused in her name by busybodies. looks like the same folks are gearing up for another winter of endless drivel.
