Wowzer wrote: <quoted text> K-9 wrote:**Dis it happen?** I doubt it unless the second person could fly. Remember there was only one set of footprints leading away from the car. And didn't Mr W. differ from his wife and thought it was a woman? Nope, don't think it happened. Heard from area residents that the pavement was dry that night. Dog lost Maura's scent in the middle of the road. Cecil saw footprints leading away from the car, perhaps on the side of the road. I always felt he thought a man was driving initially because of the size of the footprints. I recall the article about how he surmised it was a skier who abandoned the car. Yes, I think it did happen.

But here again I go. Cecil is somewhere, it takes him 10 or 20 minutes to get to the scene that he has been informed of a one person accident. A neighbor has called and could see a man in the car, forget the smoking part for now. Cecil pulls up, likely runs plates, looks around the vehicle for prints. Ding! Ding! I just realized that Barbara had just spoken to dispatch in this time and is relaying what Butch had encountered to them. A light goes on now for me, he was confused and that's likely why he asked FW where the girl went, the one in the story with a rag in the tailpipe. But what about the other story then? K-9, please, why do you tell of another accident if you're not convinced. And if convinced, why isn't it clear and part of an accurate timeline. Jurisdictions matter that much when it's that close? You tell of a witness from Cottage hospital. They drive by another location with a car like Mauras, a police car and noone around. 10-20 minutes to get to the accident fits if it was Cecil as implied, at both scenes. He's racing around roads he doesn't know very well and Swiftwater, Swiftwater road is confusing to him. Reports somewhere say that emergency were turned back, that the person had left in a private vehicle. You have RO saying an elderly person needed medics on her road,(I think?) and other police were looking for someone on foot. But oh, it's just you (RO), and in the same timeframe. I don't know the area so does this match? Anne, does this match? Is that area the area where someone may have slid off the road? Then there's the time it took for the Saturn to be abandoned. Another neighbor reports that the car backed up parallel to the road, and they could see someone going around the car. If police could only see one set of prints, and large ones at that, which way did they (prints) head away from the car. Where was the last print. Not that it matters much to answer, but they didn't head East where Fred is convinced she was heading away to on foot? Maybe FW made it seem "Maura" (whom she had just seen the GIRL at the car 1-2 minutes prior to police)was walking away that direction. I don't think I've ever heard that but then again alot of the witnesseing doesn't match. What about prints found in someones backyard too? Your silent witness must have thought this odd to even mention it off the record.

That's why gloves up front and center, ontop of or below the gifted never worn gloves may have been a scent the dogs picked up on? That red truck was witnessed to rush past the store, right after police by RO, and in that direction. Was this truck on BHR and Maura in a backyard until people took off the other way? Hard to do though with all the people who stopped to help that night. Sidenote to the other gloves found. Were they concidered when the gloves were even picked? Who picked the gloves? Did they know they had a choice of gloves to pick? How many pipers did peter piper pick, my bad.

Another thought. Maura heads toward getting help that way, decides to forget it and walks back to the car leaving dogs confused on the scent trail.

Hi ,I wonder if the driver of the saturn ,whether Maura or not got out of the car and walked down towards SBD's to try to get a phone signal and so left a dead end scent trail after walking back to the car.I have heard more than one report of road conditions varying from dry and clear to very slippery and dangerous with people sliding off the road.Someone here was concerned about a friend visiting being out on the road that night which brings me back to why Sgt.Smith stayed at the saturn for [memory here ] one hour and forty minutes and why AAA says they had no calls from Grafton county N.H on February 09 2004.The reason Maura vanished is in her prior life.Whether she intended it to be permanent ,I don't know.Does any one know if she ever got tickets for her associates for a Dane Cook concert on the 12th of February 2004.take care philip

Some thoughtprovoking posts there, all of you. Keep the ideas coming! I have always been wondering about the role of the NH State Trooper who stopped to talk with witness RO in Swiftwater and who apparently was "off the grid" for some two hours afterwards without any explanation. Any thoughts about this?

Any thoughts about this? Not really. He was known to help out alot and from what I have read was not on official duty that night so am unsure of the off the grid part.

One thought just now was the comment about the red truck racing off that way behind police. What police? Cecil or the other trooper going that way upon hearing the reports.

That Maura, who was known to up and go to Boston for a day without informing her worried friends, could also up and go do the impossible,~ by getting those tickets. But without any more chatter about the concert thing and how it comes to play, I can't think of more. Some people wonder why she cleared out her bank account. Was it for an --------, was it for a few nights at a motel and so on, or what was the money for. How much were tickets. Did Maura have a good credit card. Would she have money to stay in NH or VT and still buy those tickets or would she have to charge them. Does one subtract for gasoline. Could she make the drive without putting in more gas or was the gauge wrong in showing a more full than not tank?

Oh boy forgive me Snowy, Wowzer and everyone else who just hates all the going around. This is where I go when the discussion is in full swing. Just because this person is still missing and it drives me nutts that it can't be narrowed down in the way WTF describes. By going around again, maybe it can. But as you say it never seems to go anywhere meaningful except the hashplate.

If that red truck was indeed found to be BHR, with MASS plates, then DUHHH, it makes every bit of sense to think Maura got a ride. How long has anyone known about that truck being spotted on BHR. Was it right away or just as oddly pop up after so long to get people going? Truth or consequences?

The red truck was parked @Winnie's store when RO arrived there on her walk. RO entered the store and asked Winnie if the person driving the truck had come in to the store, Her answer was NO. She was concerned about the vehicle because it had driven past her very slowly as she was walking on the side of the road. After RO was in the store for a few minutes the truck drove away towards the accident scene. I believe it was a short time later that LE went by Winnies w/ its blue lights on headed to the scene. From inside the store I am sure it was difficult to see which cruiser it was, Haverhill or NHSP. There is even a possibility it could have been a GCSD because 2 sheriffs live in very close proximity to the scene. One lives approx. 1/8 of a mile from scene and other lives approx. 2 miles from scene. I AM NOT SAYING that it was a sheriff but it is possible and he wouldn't necessarily call in that he was headed there if he was just going to check on the situation. The same as NHSP Monahan did not call in that He was there...."BUT HE WAS." Monahan was there for a short time and that has been confirmed even though Strelzin says "NO HE WAS NOT THERE" I wonder WHY.?

I also wonder where Monahan was after being seen @ the accident scene. If he was not on duty, why would he be missing. He was in his cruiser, but not on duty. This means he was driving his patrol car while not working. Why would he not be out in his personal if he was not working. Monahan lived several miles from the scene. So what was he doing there and why was He in his cruiser?

Well, wouldn't he have to say he was not there, as in not there in an official manner?

What would be the big deal If he was there? It is not against the law for him to be there even if he is off duty. Why would they (NHSP) LIE about it. Seems odd to Me.

I believe I read somewhere that the NH State Trooper in question is no longer working as a State Trooper, but had been transferred to some kind of office-bound capacity, IIRC.

Well then I guess you take the matter further as a PI on the case and put RO to the test when she says he was "there" on her street in an unofficial manner. Where do they say he was not? At a first area where people are looking for Maura? Somewhere else on foot. Was it everything to do with Maura or not there as in not there because of Maura. What is the lie when it's police setting the record. What is offial and part of a record or not. You have a red truck with MASS plates in NH. You have Mauras car in NH. Both witnessed pretty close to each other when the car was found if I have it straight so what difference if the other trooper is counted or not. You have your reasons for not communicating more clearly with police and they evidently are the same for you, in return.

Monahan's words to RO were: "Oh it's You" as they know each other personally. He then drove off towards the acc. scene. This would put him @ the scene 1st (FIRST), before any other LE had arrived.

SO....Monahan WAS looking for someone at this point. He would not have know about a female til approx. 7:48 PM when it was sent from GCSD dispatch about ONE female, No PI, but shook up. RO says she was @ the store when the cruiser went by with its Blue lights on headed toward the scene. SO this puts Monahan there 1st.. Even though Smith says he signed off @ 7:46 at the scene, HOW CAN THIS BE.? " 02/09/04 @1954 7:54 PM Rhonda Marsh" "H2 (Smith) request all fire units BOL for a female about 5' 7" on foot."
