She is likely dead but there is the possibility of her not being in the US. Canada is a hop, skip and a jump so three is that possibility. There have been several woman (and a few men) in particular who have disappeared for a considerable period of time to just reappear. Certainly illegals are able to do it, several million of them. Again, not likely but possible.

Comes to mind a UID case, who was thought to have been idīd as a woman who went missing in the late 40s, turns out she had emigrated to Australia, "found" a couple years back. I know there have been some cases where people have been missing for decades and then turns up living in a different state, sometimes even under their own name.

Years ago it was claimed she used a First Bank ATM.
I see, The reason I said citizens was due to the renner blog and the possible open car loan.

no- all it said was 6 pack of segrams in scarzienzas last interview with Renner. no mention of segrams in early statements but mentions of Vodka in early statements.
So a six-pack of Seagram's vodka would probably be 12oz bottles, like wine coolers or Mike's Hard Lemonade?

I could be wrong, but I don't think Citizen's was in Hadley or W. MA Stop and Shop in Feb. 2004, but could be wrong. Basically Bank Boston was in Stop and Shop, followed by Fleet, which was in turn absorbed by Bank of America, which never kept the Stop and Shop offices open. They were replaced by Citizens in W. MA, but I think around 2006. Could be wrong.
Liquors 44 may have had one of those mini ATMs.
you could be right beagle, I was just going by a recent search of citizens atm. citizens has been around prior to 2004 however.

I take that back. Citizens might have been in Hadley Stop and Shop Feb. 2004. Just not sure. There was also an outdoor ATM at Hampshire Mall, which has been BoA for at least the past few years.

Or Maura might have gone to get her car in Lot 12 and been killed while getting into her car, her body dumped at the back of the parking lot, where it would still remain undiscovered, and the killer simply drove her car to NH. Happens. But there are other more likely possibilities.

Kind of late now, I would think. Location of liquor store (depending on receipt date) might, however, point to an intended route. If, for example, Maura left UMass headed for Hadley or Northampton, then she might have stopped on the way at Liquors 44, a popular place for students to buy alcohol. Between SW and Liquors 44, on Univ. Dr., there is a liquor store in the New Market Square (or whatever it's called, where Louis's used to be, across from the Hangar).
I get your point, interesting. I didnīt mean a video recording could retrieved now, rather that it could answer if there is a possibility LE did retrieve such a video at the time. There have been conflicting information, some claim a licquor store video does exist, some have said it never was one.

Although it is quite common for drunk drivers to leave their cars after a crash in order to avoid OUI, they almost always show up later or are located by LE.

However, there is no logical connection between an abandoned car and an accidental or intentional death in the woods to avoid OUI. It's not even known whether Maura was drinking or drinking enough to be worried about OUI.

That the Saturn was at the WB curve is certainly a strong indication that Maura was there. But that's all it is - an indication. SBD's identification is unreliable. At best he described to police in vague terms the presence of a young woman. This is never a reliable way to ID someone, especially in the dark after only a half-minute or so conversation. Males are notorious for NOT noticing things like clothing, hair style, etc. Was SBD ever shown pictures of Maura by LE? If so, how and when did the photos get to Haverhill?

A relatively thorough, but not exhaustive, search was made of the area about a day and a half or so after the Saturn was found. No results. No indication that she walked into the woods.

Even if she did walk into the woods, that's only a theory, like all the rest. It may be the most likely; it may even be probable. But the main problem is that as a theory it is quickly exhausted. It almost immediately loses its value as a means of discovering what happened. "She walked into the woods and died because drunk drivers evade police. Case closed." Leaving a vehicle to avoid OUI charges does not logically/necessarily imply death to the driver in woods. It's a possibility, but not a logically necessary one.

By merely asserting that the only reasonable choice here is that Maura perished in the woods is to give up on other possibilities, other chances of finding out what happened to her. And that is giving up on justice and on a person's life. Which is wrong.

If we knopw where it was purchased, maybe it would be possible to find out if they had cameras.
Couple of things...I went into Liquors 44 back in the day and yes, they had a camera. There used to be a walk up ATM in the plaza next to the gas station.

I believe there was some mention that Maura preferred to drive, or Fred suggested to Maura to drive secondary roads as opposed to major highways.

There was some issue with radio transmissions between LE and State Police. The town meetings minutes were posted online and it seems like there was a need to correct this, and upgrade their communication operating systems.

This led to question how Monaghan was in the know about the accident, or did he happen upon the scene on his way back.

Scarinza told Maribeth Conway that he would check into getting her an interview with Monaghan but I don't think she ever heard back from him.

Wouldn't it be awesome is Fred would step up aand do an interview with Renner
or someone so he can set the record straight.
I'm guessing that Mr. Renner is off FM's Christmas card list especially after the latest blog posting. Those women are Maura's cousins and have been interviewed and mentioned in the press numerous times in the past 8 years. And their mother is PMC; PMC in not one of the girls in those photos. Surely Mr. Renner must have known that as it only took me 5 minutes to find it out and I'm pretty technologically challenged.(I had to register on classmates.com under Beagle's name, class of '67, but it was worth it.)

Some might construe that blog posting as a thinly veiled attempt to slip in the other little disclosure if that's even true at all. And this found in an abandoned house... so I don't think it helped somebody's credibility. Sounds like smut dredged up for a back story to old Frosty. I'm not anti Mr Renner, I was just hoping for a little more journalistic integrity or a bit of research before he hit the send button.

Beagle, I don't think the DUI is the only factor that may indicate Maura may be suicidal, is it? Really, aren't you leaving out a few other facts?

Some other things like.......

her irrational behavior prior to leaving,
packing up her dorm room,
leaving an email from her cheating boyfriend on top of the boxes,
lying to several people at Umass about why she was leaving,
several incidents of apparent alcohol use/abuse,
leaving Mass and driving several hundred miles North in the middle of the winter,
with alcohol in her car,
and a book about dying,
her father's first response when contacted by police saying she had gone to NH to die,
leaving the scene of an accident and refusing help from passerby,

Just some things like that? Did forget that?

In my opinion, restraint under such circumstances is a class act.
