Bit off an aside but a fair few runners like a drink, don't they? I've known a few people who would regularly spend the morning after a big session 'running off' a hangover and sweating the alcohol out their systems. I'm speculating, sure, but Maura thinking she could bin some blood-alcohol with some rigorous exercise might offer an alternative reason for leaving the vehicle. I don't think suicide or pre-planned (possibly motiveless) escape are the only possibles here.

On a dog-related point, trailing dogs (if that's what they were) are rendered unreliable if a family member has touched a scent article from a missing person. Can we know this didn't happen given the timing of the infamous "hundred yard" trail in Maura's case?

Scarinza (@ 3:05 0f 9:54, part 4/5 of the Disappeared show on YouTube) states: "I also had our Bloodhound that's assigned to the Troop respond and do a search of the ground." That was in reference to the February 9, 2004 search, or so it was implied. Bloodhound. Think Duke on The Beverly Hillbillies only a little livelier. The Disappeared feature ("dramatic recreations" used) shows a GSD or LHGSD to recreate the scenario as it might have played out. No mention of a Belgian Malinois, at least not on that day. So it would seem.

Time unknown - A police canine in the investigation tracks the scent from one of Maura's (rarely used) black leather gloves. The dog follows the scent 100 yards east from the location of where the vehicle, in the direction of a resident's house. It is not known if this was in fact Maura walking, being dragged, or a belonging of hers being dragged. It is implied that she or the item may have been picked up or placed in a vehicle at the end of the scent trail. It is also possible that the scent had vanished due to the incident happening nearly two days earlier.

as someone might have mentioned here or on JR's blog, even media sources may be incorrect, as reporting may easily be inaccurate and incomplete. inconsistencies abound...even according to primary sources, such as Scarinza. there is some futility in this daily, hourly round and round, with the exception of venting and a continued awareness of MM's disappearance. at one level, it could be described as a 'vigil', and yet, the taste of that noble endeavor is made bitter by all of the personal attacks and hostility ORIGINALLY made by 'family' and their supporters in the name of protecting the reputation of MM. this has persisted over so many years...and many thousands upon thousands of posts later. much has been accomplished, imo, by the vigilance of a few with knowledge dating back to day 1, and their refuting fiction with the few facts that are known or can be inferred from expertise and knowledge. they are the folks with steady nerves, some humor, and logical minds. with the exception of a solid clue or lead revealed...where does anyone suppose this conversation is going? or should be going? what is a reasonable plan?

If FRMLE was a former investigator on this case he should be able to add something to the case that we don't know or at least put some questions to rest but he prefers to attack people .That would be helpful. I think refraining from attacks is a good start. If you get frustrated that you have heard something before just chill out. The attacking is what sidetracks any constructive and or normal back and forth conversation. I think if everyone justs let people voice their thoughts then they will be able to work out what is fact vs fiction on their own.

Does anyone know how far down 112 they may have searched on this day? Past 116 towards Franconia?: May 8, 2004 * Based on a tip, New Hampshire Fish and Game conduct a ground search near where a young person was seen running the night of Maura's disappearance. No scent or leads are reported from the search. May, 2004

Ok, so this would be at least two different dogs, one being the bloodhound on Wednesday and then this one, "Quickly" on Thursday.

http://mauramurray.blogspot.com/ This will take you right to the page where MR Renner tells about his talk with MR Scarinza, " a while back". Not sure if that means within the year, 3 months ago or what, but then I don't know how long MR Renner has been doing this. Anyhow, it's worth reading again. It says Maura bought a six pack of Seagrams. "She had purchased Kahlua, wine, and a six pack of Seagrams. The box had splashed all over the car. The bottle of kahlua was not there." So the wine, and the six pack of Seagrams was all that he saw in the car. He saw the receipt. This also quotes what Fred said about the old squaw walk, and what to do with the rag. ~The dorm room being all packed up in boxes, and the "old email".....when was it printed out? Years ago and found while Maura was packing up to take off, or was it just then printed out? I would think this would matter: what was the print date on that "old email"?

Hi Snowy. I don't know if anyone here has a plan really. But together and with MR Renner's blog maybe something will catch. A lightbulb moment whether clueless or point well made, some things might be pursued with the help of such trigger moments. I like this forum when it's running right along........the chances of catching onto something laying it wait increases.

Maura thought she may be with child....she was looking into the effects of drinking on an unborn child. She seemed to be Jonesing for a different car, and is said to have been pretty quiet or down over the holidays. There was definately alot on her mind that she wasn't going to share, even though she may have seemed on the verge of it to some in recounting her behaviour. I still want to know (ha, like I have the right to know), but I'm curious. How did she get to that New Years eve party? And, does anyone recall when the Saturn was towed back to campus? I just don't remember but I thought Frd had paid for some towing and then Maura had to drive the vehicle the rest of the way. It was inspected in October of 03. Friends say she hadn't driven it in a few weeks. Does this imply she had driven herself back to school after the holidays were over?
