Looking very forward to finshing reading this entire thread and contributing positively to making some sound conclusions.
As I've learned by studying thousands of mp cases both resolved and unresolved while we may never physically find the person. We can make some sound conclusions based on solid evdence and using my studies to point family and friends and investigators in the right direction.
My first piece of advice... Don't listen to psychics or bs artists (takes time to weed out the second.) And unless the psychic is going to give the family gps coordinates of where to find Mara right now...all your going to hear about from them is water, trees, embankments, and ditches. In high profile cases families ar plagued by dozens and dozens of people who are psychics or had some sort of dream. Don't let those people cloud your judgment from conclusions based on hard physical detectove work.
God Bless Maura's family.

Someone close to Maura? had said that Maura may not have unpacked these items since returning from break? Wonder if anyone had seen Maura's dorm room at various periods of time weeks prior to her disappearance. Some believed she had not been residing in her dorm room. If true, possibly she had moved items back to her dorm room from wherever she might have been staying that week or weekend before her disappearance.
wonder all you wish; you don't have facts.
much sustained discussion about "art work" on MM's dorm walls some time ago. the ducks would have had the public believe a college student on financial aid with a broken down car owned. now, you say "pictures".
you and jwb are actively feeding the absurdity of drawing conclusions from no knowledge base.
it is harmful, not helpful, to cyber-investigate and meddle with the lives of innocents who are strangers to you.
you both look foolish, and in fact, you are.

useless, unless based on accurate, factual information.

Welcome KeepTheSearchAlive!

It's always good to have new blood since there can't be much left after the shoot out at the OK corral last night.

Just sitting here reading, sipping away on my double, bobble-head, frothy, saccharine-laced latte, hold the whip.

i didn't see a "welcome" extended to you, Blank. your all-caps style grabbed my attention. relax a bit...it's ok. the intensity of these OCD folks trying to jam "stuff" (more polite than sh*t) into every crevice of our brains is what it is....useless.

there must not be enough action elsewhere to hold their interest....even with the addition of FB in recent years, to include JRenner's excellent, interactive presentation.
fact is, there are no new facts here on Topix; but some still take flights of fantasy.

After reading Brenners Blog he does make some very interesting facts.
- Maura was heading to a place that her father and her would always go to.

- Maura had the insurance paper work that her dad requested in the car.

- Maura's father after she went missing appealed to her as if she was a runaway, then after time treated this like foul play.

- When her father was told about the rag in the muffler/exhaust he told the authorities that it was to prevent smoking and he gave it to her - making sure he told LE that so it wouldn't be surprised if his DNA was on it.

- He didn't meet with LE for interview until two years after the accident. He brought lawyers. Wouldn't you want to meet with LE to help them immediately?

Those things listed are absolute facts. If your daughter wants to be with you in a one bed hotel room at 2:30 AM (which is weird) and crashes your car while having a couple drinks. If your cool enough not to make a big deal about it then I'm sure your daughter would open up to you and tell you anything that was bothering her, and where and why she was going to NH if it wasn't to see you.

I'm not saying he's guilty but they're a lot of facts that point towards him atleast knowing a little more than he knows. I think once LE realized that he wasn't talking much they went into shutdown mode with him, or they picked up some strong evidence to make him a POI.
I'm not even saying he killed her, maybe he helped her runaway, to help her start a new life. And maybe LE is thinking the same thing. Maybe they won't charge him until and or if they find a body, cause otherwise it wouldn't be a murder he would have assisted her in running away.

Potatoe, potato.

When I was at university we removed our dubious artwork from the walls over the holiday breaks so that cleaning staff could clean, steam and sometimes fumigate the dorm rooms. Sometimes they even painted the walls. We were required to pick everything up off the floors and put it on the beds so the floors could be polished and waxed.

Unless it is known that MM put everything back after returning from the break in late January**, 2004 then it's most likely, IMO, that she never even unpacked. Maybe they were going to fumigate the week of Feb 9th?

never, ever, ever in our family's combined experiences over more than one generation have i known this to be true, either in a public or private academic setting.
Frosty, you're bringing back all the excuses heretofore made ..... red herrings.
endless rewind isn't progress. a new, concrete fact will be decisive in moving toward resolution, and it's doubtful it will come via Topix. just sayin'.

All NH LE would need is to find Fred in a lie, and or find out a fact that he wasn't mentioning like they tracked his phone records and found he was calling lodges in NH and VT and once they deemed he wasn't creidtable he turned into a POI.
- Please note that I'm not saying that this happened. This is just a theory.

Horse puckey. Never in the history of everdom has it been stated that the dorm room was completely unpacked from holiday break and then boxed up again.

Perhaps they didn't clean the rooms in your public or private academic "setting"? Did y'all have to pitch in and scrub the latrine with toothbrushes?

Tom, if you've been reading these forums for awhile then you know there are plenty of people that more or less agree with what you are saying and how you are saying it, give or take a few insights. Also, if you don't already know what a duck is, you are about to find out.

jwb,
Maura had really liked Jigger Johnson campground and in fact had wanted to work there during summer vacation when she was about 15 years old. Possibly if she had wanted a remote landmark to meet someone, that campground area would have been the place. It was closed, but they might have met nearby and then traveled to their destination (continued to travel in separate vehicles). Wonder how far her car was from that campground?
It is a good 25 miles from her car to jigger Johnson. If she were meeting at Jigger Johnson that would mean she was crossing the Kanc and Prob not going to Bartlet. Bear notch Road that leads to Bartlet is closed in the Winter. Also there really isn't a spot to pull over at that campground in the winter. It is gated and the snowbanks block the entrance.

JWB is happy you are back. You needed some rest. A few hours sleep, but still it is helpful to you. Hopefully.
