WTH-the-original wrote: <quoted text> So what they are left with is investigating sightings, talking to family and friends again. Kind of like a normal investigation. Bill For whatever reason, they don't always investigate sightings that are far better, far more specific, than the one supplied by SBD. Must be a waste of resources.

Tom wrote: <quoted text> So an animal walks off with her body. I'm assuming that there would be blood for a dog to track. Scattered bones would leave more of a scent. You can make up almost every theory and say almost anything could have happen. "With large predators and/or scavengers in the area two nights is more than enough time" You know are a zoologist to be able to tell me how an animal can destroy a body and leave nothing behind. I thought we were going along with Occam's Razor and looking for more plausable scenarios. So a predator walks off with her body and than hides it bones and all from the police and search parties. Tom ... We would do well to listen carefully to Bill. He knows his mountains, animals, hypothermia, etc. He refers to the bones for good reason. A forensic anthropologist gave a seminar that I was fortunate to attend. A cold case had been solved. A large map was on the wall which showed where the teenagers bones ended up. They were 18 miles apart. This woman proceded to point out what animals carried the bones to the seperate locations based on the habits of the animal type. It was amazing. Have you heard about Necrosearch & The Pig Project. You could Google it or go on www.amazon.com , click books & key in “No Stone Unturned: The True Story of the World’s Premier Forensic Investigators” by Steve Jackson. An interesting and informative read.

Advocate wrote: <quoted text> As I recall, the SBD was shown a photo of Maura. It was a photo in which her hair was up in the customary (for her) bun. SBD commented that it looked like her except that the girl he saw had her hair down. Advocate ... At the beginning a friend of Maura's family spoke with Butch. This is what he said, "She didn't look like the pictures, her hair was down, it must have come undone during the accident."

Jwb wrote: <quoted text> That is another reason I don't buy FMLE and him saying 98% she just ran off and perished into the woods. The family would have been shown the video to confirm that it was maura. What is the harm in that if a perp doesn't exist? Do we know 100% certainty that no one besides LE has seen the video? As always, I don´t know about 100%, but family claims to have never seen it, PIs claim to have never seen it, no news reporter or member of the public has ever reported seeing it, and Fred Murray was denied in court to have it released. So, something is up with that video, that´s for sure.

I admire that you would go this far for an alternative theory. And since we are on alternative theory where were you the night of Feb 9th 2004?

I am sure only one family member looked at the video if any of them have seen it and most likely it would have been Fred. Has fred ever said that he hasn't seen the video or has it only been distant relatives that have posted here on Topix? Just asking because I am not sure.

just answered my own question. I just went back and read Freds Foia and he did request all videos obtained that resembled Maura.
Can anyone answer if this is standard protocol until family has been ruled out as a suspect?

Fred would hardly have petitioned in court to gain access to it if he had already seen it. The court ruled against him.

Why would they reserve their opinions? If this forum is to be of any service we need to be pointed or point others in the right direction. At some point this case will be solved and a finger will be pointed. I will ask this again in a different format. Keeping LE out of the equation do we know of anyone more with involvement in this case?

Ususally if there is photage of the person hours before disappearing it is shown to the public ASAP.

Speaking of damaging private property. My coworker had to pay a mint for hitting some guardrails while driving. When you damage, you pay. But the Murray's want to make it all look so hunky dorie. No prob, insurance will take care of everything, no citation needed for you........
I have a lot of catching up to do here. It was White wash's post that brought this to mind. Thanks to oo00oo for posting it.

The Judge also said that foul play can/t be ruled out.

Or whoever was driving it.
