<quoted text>"What could be on that video?" "or maybe Who is on the video." No clue because family has never viewed any video to make a a positive id to say Maura was in this video. "Seems like its important to LE." Well my thoughts are if it were so important to LE why did they wait months after the accident to subpena this video? Why could they not say what Maura was last seen wearing if they viewed a video with Maura supposedly in it from the ATM? And why did they leave it up to the family to guess at what she may have been wearing if they infact saw a video with Maura at the ATM? Who was it that made a positive id that Maura was infact in this video because it was definitely no family member.
LE apparent confidence that Maura eluded them in some fashion post accident may have contributed to their interest in stopping red trucks early into the morning of Feb 10th.

Perhaps Monaghan and BA shared the same ID characteristics, which was subsequently BOLO'd. Black hair?

Fast forward three months, and RF sighting 5 miles east, deemed a credible tip, and search of area may have yielded something to place Maura at that place, and point in time. Much different description of person than BA description.

But "Maura" can't be in two places at the same time.

The ATM video now becomes important to LE to discern whose description is the accurate one.

Perhaps its not Maura in the vidoes.

The problem I have with the RF sighting is he waited so long to come out and mention it. The second he heard a girl went missing near his house he would have shared that info. The sighting should have clicked then. It doesn't make sense why he would mention it later, after getting his dates confused.

Thank you citigirl, That baffles me. what could the video possibly have that would jeopardize the case if family were to see the video to identify Maura.

It could have the POI in the background. Maybe they don't want the POI to know that they are making a case. I would think that would be the only reason.

She didn't leave the car, did she? You weren't there that night ...were you? Nobody reported seeing her walking down the road. She didn't take her running gear which presumably included her running shoes. And she didn't take her AAA card so she could call in for roadside assistance from her lodging down the road. True the AAA 1-800 number might have been pre-programmed into her cell, but you still have to give the AAA operator your membership number.
And what about a witness seeing a man sitting in the car with a lit cigarette? Maura's cell phone had a color display, not an orange one. At 75 feet in the pitch dark it's easy to tell the difference.(Tried it.) So imo, she was abducted from either inside her car or while outside surveying the damage.
Or perhaps... there was another person in the car and there was hanky-panky going on under those deployed airbags and after BA, SBD went home they just walked off into the sunset together! Reminds me of that scene from the movie "Crash".
Also to add to your post. Based on the westmans account of the story it appeared that Maura did stay at her car for 20-30 min from the time that FW heard the thud to the time that SBD was at the scene. SBD said she was having difficulties getting out of her car because the car was up against the snowbank. He also stated that Maura remained in her car(drivers side) during the conversation. This brings me back to a post I made a while back. How could SBD have a conversation With Maura if she was in the drivers side seat that was up against the snowbank. The passenger window would have to have been rolled down to do this.

SBD was quoted as saying she remained in her car. I read that from a newspaper article poss the Hanson Express.

If she didn't leave the car she would be pretty easy to find and we wouldn't be having this discussion. Also the witness who said it was a cigarette also stated it could have been the light from a cell phone. I have trouble even thinking that an avid runner would allow someone to smoke in their car, and I have an even bigger problem thinking that a person smoking would stay in a car not moving to vent out the smoke. Maura's car would smell awful if there was no fresh air coming in from the breeze of the car moving. This is someone who is going away on vacation to get away for a while and values running so much she is bringing her running shoes. I don't see a cigarette in this equation.
Your post starts with "she didn't leave her car" and ends with her "walking off into the sunset."
she was an avid runner that drank?

According to James Renner's post he changed his story three times about how he spoke to her.
Since he was in a bus did his bus have a cb radio in it? Couldn't he call for help from the CB? I'm not pointing the finger at him I'm just wondering.

there is no physical evidence or confirmed social interactions pointing to her being abducted from Amherst.
there is no physical evidence or eye/ear witness(es) to her being abducted along a travel route from MA to NH. did she pick up a hitchhiker or perp at a rest stop? unknown. unlikely.
there was no physical evidence of a scuffle at the scene of where her crashed car was found in NH to confirm an abduction.
if a tiny lit cigarette was observed from a distance, it is possible a travel companion and MM accepted a ride together...perhaps from someone known to her/them traveling behind or parallel.
regardless, she left her crashed vehicle in NH, refused assistance from the SBD, and failed to avail herself of options to seek help from any of 5 residences in the immediate area of where her car was found.
left/ran from UMASS Amherst.
left / did not stay with her vehicle in NH.
she obviously left the vehicle but the question is was it voluntary? We can speculate and throw out the odds but it is not known for sure.

Apparently that is a fact. But Did she drink while running. Smoking would be very painful for an advid runner.
From the blog:
One thing that has been re-reported with little verification over the years is the story by Faith Westman, who lived in the house across the street from where Maura's car came to rest on Wild Ammonoosuc Rd., in which she says she saw a man in Maura's car smoking a cigarette. That's not exactly right, she told me last week.

"I heard a crash and then I went to the window. I saw the car. There was a red light in the car, which I thought might be the light from the end of a cigarette," says Westman. "But I never saw a man and the red light could have been anything. Maybe a cell phone light as she was trying to find a signal to call someone."

She saw the woman in the car get out and walk around the vehicle as she called the accident in to local authorities--crashes on that curve in the wintertime are not unusual in themselves and she has to do this at least once every season.

I am sure LE matched up the video with the card that was place in the ATM. Odds are that it was Maura unless someone else obtained her pin number. Also, I don't believe RF had a detailed description such as facial features etc.. due to the jogger wearing a hood and it was nightime.

He only lived 100 yards down the road. Just as easy to call from his house.

If there was a POI in the background at the ATM who LE thought might be possible for abducting Maura wouldn't they have put it out to the public for tips? If that were the case then it might be a case of kidnapping over state lines which would be reason to call in the FBI. I think if the family, friends and private investigators of/for MM thought that was the case there would have been a hullabaloo over that many moons ago and a lot of speculation in the media to that effect.

Ok, If fw was watching a female get out of her car and walk around to the trunk, that should have been before SBD arrived at the scene right? She supposedly witnessed the accident prior to SBD arriving on the scene.

JWB it is a fact she witnessed the scene before Atwood because she called the police before he did. I don't know if when she called she was keeping an eye on the scene. She may have went to the phone called it in, and by that time Atwood had already came and went. I'm speculating but she probably already went to the trunk since BA saw her standing outside the car.

I think it gets a bit foggy here, perhaps this was an account not in Maura's name.
