And no, Ruddock didn't tag a DUI on her (if she was), so more reason for her to feel relieved.
Well, whether you buy it or not does not mean it wasn't possible, right? Consider this case, Megan Meier was 14 years old when she committed suicide by hanging herself over bullying over the internet. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suicide_of_Megan...

Would you also say you 'don't buy' that someone would committ suicide over internet comments on Facebook?

Also consider that your statement "but I don't buy running off or contemplating suicide over 79 bucks. is a little misleading, isn't it? Because it wasn't just 79 bucks, it was a criminal offense by stealing 79 bucks, as well as all the other things in her life, some that we know about and some we surely don't know about.

It was not just 79 bucks, it was the criminal offense, the crash of her dads car, the dismissal from West Point, and who knows what other personal issues that only she knew about inside her head. It was culmulative, as these things always are. Not just 79 bucks.

don't bother to ed-u-cate. protecting MM and casually dismissing her actions has been assigned to defend on topix and around other forums.
more than the $79., which could have been a mis-step, is the pattern of difficulties and relationships revealed here and there to the public which speaks to complicated circumstances and interplay leading up to her disappearance.

From the UMass Nursing School Undergrad Handbook":

"CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information) checks are required by most clinical agencies and will be completed on all students and faculty once they are admitted to the program and yearly thereafter. Progression and clinical placements in the nursing program may be contingent upon a satisfactory CORI investigation. Please review the website at www.mass.gov/hhs/cori/ for more details on CORI checks."

and

"One of the criteria for application for licensure involves the determination of “good moral character.” Failure to meet this criterion could delay or prevent licensure. Please refer to the Mass.gov website: www.mass.gov/dph/boards/rn for complete information. It is the student’s responsibility to seek legal guidance with any concerns about meeting these criteria".

To apply for a nursing license in MA, the applicant has to answer the following questions:

"5.Have you ever been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor in the United States or any other country/foreign jurisdiction?
6. Are you the subject of any pending or open criminal case (s) or investigation(s),(including for any felony or misdemeanor) in a jurisdiction in the United States or any country/foreign jurisdiction?"

It may be possible that the upsetting call that was supposedly made from an internal school phone to Maura might have been another student confronting Maura over another instance of credit card fraud.Just throwing it out there. Maybe there were other miss uses of credit cards and the pizza order was the first that she got caught.

Not to mention that anywhere you work as a Health Care Professional requires a CORI and/or BCI....

I missed your point, because you didn't really state your point.

If it wasn't just the 79 bucks, then why did you say

That says to me you don't think she would consider suicide over 79 bucks?

both FM and MM have been well supported by the PBB (self-named) in their insistence that nothing untoward happened in MM's life prior to her disappearance. of course, the credit card issue was WELL KNOWN to the PBB before JR's confirmation. call it protection or call it cover-up, the job of the PBB was/is to distract from "truth" or "facts" to provide little by way of accurate information.
it is unusual for a family grieving loss to behave this way, imo, and the opinion of others.
it certainly makes these discussions endlessly circular and frustrating.
the first mention by whiston on topix of credit card fraud drew scorn by the PBB.
L4M....do we agree?
and, guess what? there must be much, much more to the story.
Snowy you are wrong to assume that family members knew anything about a credit card issue.

Was she at risk of being terminated from the nursing school?

the fact remains that Maura vanished with out a trace on Feb. 9th. Regardless of what may have transpired in her life before she disappeared she is still missing and needs to be found. Maura is deeply loved and missed by many.

citigirl,

I wholeheartedly agree with you on this point.
Whatever Maura may or may not have done, it is a matter of unfortunate fact that she is missing since nearly eight years.
That is heart-breaking, whatever the facts and circumstances leading up to her disappearance might have been.

That is a very good point. I myself was rushing to think she was short on money as well. Never would have thought about the control issue.

<quoted text>I don't usually judge others.....but that being said, I'm left feeling that if Fred or someone in the family had only disclosed this information about Maura immediately, then maybe she could have been found. Instead, he said her previous life didn't matter...... It's apparent that her previous life DID matter, and there were things going on that DID matter.....really sad that perhaps her own father conttributed to the lack of finding her...yet he blames it all on LE and the locals. It really pisses me off, that family members would portray a young adult as the picture of perfection while all that was going on. I'm simply disgusted.
Excellent Post I agree the fact that the father never told anyone about this that might have helped in the search. What else is he holding back and why not tell anyone if you really want your daughter found. Makes me wonder what else he knows.
