The Hadley PI said he believed Maura was driving under when she crashed the Corolla. When asked why she was not arrested, all he said was "coulda, shoulda, woulda." Kind of like... too late now. This PI was the original PI.

Even if Maura was involved in some shady activity, I doubt police would let a drunk driver go. The liability would be too great. And it's doubtful that a regular uniformed cop would know about her being followed, physically or electronically.

But if she was drunk, which an authority on the case believes her to have been (the Hadley PI), then why was she not arrested? If icy road conditions were not the cause, and the crash was, as Ruddock wrote, due to "driver innattention," then it would seem that something was going on. Is driver inattention the same as driving while distracted? No citation?

If you've driven that route before, then driver inattention is very unlikely. You would remember that intersection. You would not space it out. However, if she was emotionally worked up, then maybe, but even then it's hard to explain running that stop sign. I drove down N. Hadley the other night a couple of times, trying out the inattentive driver as well as I could (which was not very thorough, obviously) and I still don't see how someone who has driven through that intersection before could miss the stop line. There is a bright, flashing red light that can be seen about a quarter mile away, directly in front of you. The stop sign is totally visible.

If you've never driven that route before, then I could understand, but if she had never driven it, then why all of a sudden take it that night of all nights? Or did she change her originally intended destination after the car got smashed up?

I agree that you cannot predict what an unbalanced person will do.

If you had not driven that route before, then you probably would have taken another route - University Dr to Russell St to the motel.

Tom, In case you didn't know. Snowy and Frmle are buddies. You may get fired from the assistant Snowy position if you don't fall back in line Pronto.

I'm not toally sold on her behaving irrationally at UMass yet. That theory is mainly based on rumor, news reports, details like cc receipts, and on other less than reliable sources. And it plays nicely into the theory that Maura must have been at the WB curve and must have disappeared of her own accord, or have taken a ride, but she was definitely there, so goes the theory.

I believe her dob has been posted before, so it's not like it's a secret or would compromise anything. I want to find out about her arraignment on the credit card charges. This is probably way off, but maybe one or two of the nurses could comment. The sort of mug shot picture of Maura on Renner's blog... I know it's a pretty grim, grainy, and indistinct picture, but does her neck look a little large? Maybe it's just the lighting.

Tom, I have tried on several ocassions to get Frmle to expand on something and give us more facts that he says he is privy to. I also put the question out thete if he is forbidden to do so by LE Code but he doesn't respond either way.
