1.Sgt. Beausoleil said another tip, from a woman who was walking on Route 112 in Bath, N.H., on Feb. 9, also could not help investigators develop a criminal case.
The woman reported a suspicious man in a red pickup truck with Massachusetts plates eyeing her near the Stage Stop general store in Bath at about 7 that night.
According to the woman, the man left when she went into the store and headed east toward the accident scene. Ten minutes later, the woman saw Haverhill police go by in the same direction, responding to the accident.

maybe while this guy was driving in that direction, was when maura was getting ready to flee the scene, they probaly encountered each other and either the guy abducted her or she got in the truck willingly and met with foul play. the girl said the guy was eyeing her so she went in the store, by coincidence on the night of mauras accident this guy might have been lurking around the streets to find a victim and he might have.

2.Title: Missing woman seen victim of serial killer; Maura Murray case is examined in new book by criminologist Maura Murray, the 22-year-old Hanson woman missing since February, is the subject of one of several case studies in a book about serial killers due to be released in October. "Tracker," by criminologist Maurice Godwin, examines several high-profile crimes, Godwin said Murray's disappearance interested him because of the circumstances surrounding her disappearance.

has anyone ever read this book and the part where it talks about maura? im gonna get thebook and see what it says.

3. im tryign to find the article where one of mauras friends in washingtong in article stated that she was trying to get the help of the us embassy in canada? why was she trying to do that? why canada?

Cpl Trott found what he deemed were "suspicious footprints" going to a pole line in north Haverhill on Feb 11, 2004.

(see Grafton County log)

What do suspicious footprints look like?

If he felt it was out of the ordinary for footprints to be in the area, why would he be looking there in the first place?

What could have been the impetus of going to a pole line in the first place?

Why would the footprint findings be part of the log?

Does anyone know where this pole line is that Trott is referring to?

No, but I did read his paper/thesis. It was interesting. I am not convinced WITH WHAT I HAVE READ SO FAR that his theories are valid, but they may be. I would consider buying his book.

I am certain that to be suspicious, he felt they were out of place. He may not have been looking but might have seen them. You don't say what time the prints were? Sometimes, especially at night when you control the light source, prints just jump out at you. I was just in charge of a actual search a few nights ago. When I was doing my initial survey of the scene I had a few of the newer searchers with me while trying to do some tracking at night. It was part teaching but had to be done hastily because of the known information. Several of them were amazed at what you could see at night and also, until I pointed out what we were looking at didn't actually see anything. I track people all the time, as a result I see thing that others don't see. To them, at this point, its magic.

I am finally going to go deer hunting this season and as a result I went to a spot where my wife's cousin is going to let me hunt. I walked the area with him and he was very adept at pointing out rub areas and bed areas and scat that until he pointed them out I really wasn't seeing. I felt like a novice. I have seen animal sign before while walking in the woods, actually very often. I probably would have seen this sign also, eventually, but, he was so practiced in this that it made him much more adept at it than me. Its not magic to me, but he is very skilled at it. He has spent a lot of time doing it and the sign of deer just jumps out to him. It is all in what you have been trained and practiced to do.

Hello nishka256,

Welcome to the board. Itīs always good to see some new people here, who may be able to look at this perplexing case with new eyes.

I was interested to read about your reference to a newspaper article purporting to state that Maura had been mentioning to her friends som kind of help from the US embassy in Canada.
This is the first Iīve ever heard or read about this.
Do you have any more information about this?
Thanks.

..........

but in 8 minutes time a local dirt bag - drove by sized her -
decided he could take her -
threw her in the car without struggle
even helped her with booze transfer
- lock the car and
put a rag in the pipe.

Erin Devine, a George Washington University student and high school classmate of Maura's, said she is doing what she can from Washington, D.C.
"I haven't lost hope. I've been working with a criminal psychology professor. We talked about it all day during class today and we're trying to do something about it. I called the police up there and even the U.S. Embassy in Canada," Devine said.

This is the article quote. So here we have Erin Devine, a high school classmate who wants the Canada US Embassy to help in the case of Maura. but why canada. i have the full article.

Some people imply that Maura, her car,(the whole accident thing by the weathered barn), took longer than just 15 minutes from start to end. There were footprints in the other neighbors yard, but who knows if they ever gave it much credit after the fact. Might be part of info that we don't have.
The rag....Fred told Maura to use it should she ever....and there it was. Who else besides her would think to do that? Sometimes I think Maura did go to do herself in, and brought things to help her feel better in the process.(pictures of her loved ones, something to read, maybe changing her mind)...Maybe she'd get a room and be found that way in her pajamas that she brought. But she was possibly spotted running 4-5 miles from the accident scene. I can believe that. Her mind would be going overtime and running might help when using the car couldn't take her where she'd rather be. They've looked everywhere at least once. Nature takes it's course too.
Then I think maybe she did run away. She most likely packed her room you know and either she never left UMASS on her own or she knew she'd never come back. Easier to think this after 6 years of not coming back and/or calling anyone if she is just fine and living a new life somewhere.
Boyfriend. If she did have someone at the time, I do hope they have identified the person and stayed in touch over the years. The Cumberland Farms thing. Did Gvmeabrk see someone mouthing help me and really think it was Maura, which would mean being held against her will? What about the A frame? Made up? police didn't test the closet carpet samples, PI's lose their sample of the carpet? Nobody seems to follow through on this, the brother has died while in prison? Good enough?
That red truck. Makes me think she had someone following her whether she wanted that or not. Time at the car. How much time did she have. The car. Was it by the trees or several cars closer to BHR.

The suicide never made sense to me. The reason being; why would someone drive an unreliable car up to the mountains and risk not being able to make it to their destination? I just think if I was on a mission to do myself in, I wouldn't risk my plans being thwarted by a car that may break down at any point along my journey. Also, why would Maura go to Haverhill instead of a more familiar place? Fred said she wasn't familiar with that area. I can't pretend to know these things for sure, just trying to use some common sense.

Now - she did have military training.. how much ? i don't know

Her destination wasn't Haverhill. Her destination was likely Bartlett which you can get to the way she was driving though it was the very long way around.

The drinking and crash likely changed her plans regardless if it was suicide or something else.

My thoughts.
