I apologize, not sure whether or not you were referring to my post, but it was fairly long. Anyways, I'm confident you'll manage to get through it either way. If the weird OWS conflation was directed at me you'll have to make it a little less ambiguous next time. Hopefully it wasn't and I'll take a little break from the LOOOOOONG posts to even things out, in terms of characters-used.
it's been a long week here on the farm....sorry for the jab.
naw...the OWS thing was just for fun.
i sent you a long post back.

Wow! That's a pretty nasty thing to say. WHat have you offered to this forum besides jumping on the pig pile?
as we know, the reality is that Bill has exhibited infinite patience by his humor, and provides detailed, professional S&R info...along with a huge dose of logic and common sense.
he's not going away anytime soon, so what's-her-name better get used to the push back when stupid happens. Bill doesn't tolerate stupid.

Vanderhoven, I appreciate your thoughts on this forum. The problem is that a lot of us try and talk about what we think could have happened, might have happened, we bat things around that might or might not be helpful, but we try. We are here to maybe get some new ideas flowing and possibly someone will come up with something that might be useful or helpful. But then along comes Bill... he trashes us time and again and makes us feel incompetent and worthless, calls us stupid and makes fun, it gets old and tired. I didn't come here for that, I came here because I'm not that far from NH, have been up near where Maura was last seen many many times. I have children and 'get it' when it comes to someone missing or lost and would love for the family to get some closure. But is it right that everytime someone states an opinion- and that is what a forum is ABOUT- they get slammed by this guy Bill? That's what leads us away from the subject at hand. Every other post is by WTH and he always has something derogatory to say to anyone that doesn't share his opinion. It's just so old and annoying. That's not why we started coming here. We came here to try to help. However meaningless our help might be at least we are aware and discussing.. keeping it alive and known. I just want to come on here and talk, not get attacked every time.

No worries. I'm pretty notorious for writing ridiculously long posts/emails/messages. I have yet to decide whether I consider it to be a flaw or an asset, but I know it can annoy some.

The OWS thing I'll just leave where it is since I wouldn't know how to respond even if I wanted to.

In response to the long post: I understand the point you're trying to make. Again, I wasn't suggesting that anyone here or anywhere else discussing this case will solve it, but I don't think that is reason enough not to discuss it. Certainly not in a forum devoted to this case, but in general also. People discuss and examine and analyze things which will never be solved conclusively, and I although I can appreciate how it can become absolutely ridiculous- I would argue that it's worth letting the conversation take place, or perhaps more accurately being open to a continuation of the discourse. While I might not share the same opinions as all of you, and might have poked some fun as I got my foot in the door I don't doubt that some of you are intelligent, perhaps even very, and I think that is reason enough to be open to an updated (if only in time, and not additional clues) discussion of the case.

2- The point I was trying to make about dismissing a very broad case theory or direction seems to sort of fit your point. I'm not suggesting that one of the points (the dogs, the cell reception, whatever... these are just more specific speculations. My point was that there is no substantiated fact one way or the other, and that YES, arguments can be made both ways- so it would seem foolish to disregard one or the other.

I'm curious, as you seem to think continuing the discussion of the case,(or perhaps you just take issue with speculative leaps), I'd like to know how you'd like to discuss the case? What would be the best use of our collective down-times on this forum (granted going outside for a hike or baking a sweet loaf or any number of things might be more productive but confining the answer to within this forum. What do you think?

Gah, it's a long one again. Well I have to go make dinner so I can guarantee at least a little bit of single-sentence responses in between the next monologue. Perhaps it's all part of a master plan to cause ocular irritation. Speculate away!

P.S. Amy: If I recall correctly by third grade we were no longer sharing snacks but trading equal value lunch-box contents. What do you have to offer? I'll accept your allegiance provided the dessert is up to par. That is how it's done, right?

Hope you did not use EMT as a pejorative. I'm feeling pretty fond of these people lately, ever since Nov.11 when I was stone cold dead and a paramedic and 2 EMTs brought me back to life via CPR and accompanying procedures. 2 weeks in the hospital and still recovering, I and my husband and friends and family are feeling all sorts of warm and fuzzy feelings about all the wonderful paramedics, EMTs, emergency room personnel etc. They were simply brilliant and we are eternally grateful.

EMT volunteers are great, nothing bad to say against them. In fact, I don't have anything bad to say about any poster here. I sort of thought we were all here for the same reason. Lots of years ago on the original MMM sight I was a poster and there ended up being so much animosity that everyone started just talking about who was being mean to whom. Not my kind of thing, and now this has turned into that. I love to read and hear what people have to say, think, feel about the case. I think that no amount of thought is too much for this case. I never feel like someone's ideas are dumb, stupid, or criticize them for their spelling, punctuation. I just want the same respect back. I hope that James Renner can maybe stir some things up, make some people remember, think, talk... keep the case alive. That's all I would want if it were my Daughter missing.

New poster here. I am intrigued by the recent videos. I'm also interested in hearing more about a Briana Maitland connection. I don't care about any flame wars that have taken place in the past. I'd just like to hear about different opinions and facts that are known.

well, there's more of where that came from on the NEW MMM site (Maura Murray Missing) FB group. censored posts, and all good news.
other possibilities exist... She's Not There: Maura Murray Advocates for Open Discussion (also FB), and Websleuths. but you know all that, because you've been following this thing since the early days.
it's like all the denominations within a belief system....the dynamics differ from place to place.

I can reflect my own tastes right here. Open forum. I think that Maura really was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Perhaps someone that had access to a scanner heard something and got there before the police. I do not think that SBD had anything to do with the disappearance, I think he tried to help, but was turned away by Maura. I this.k that she was approached by someone that claimed to be LE, but was not. She trusted and then something bad happened. I don't claim to know what. That is just my opinion. Based on nothing but opinion. Any better than anyone else's? No? No one knows what happened right?

Blue,
Having been here on Topix for quite some time, I sympathise and concur with your statement there.
I´ve lost track of how many pages on this forum have been devoted to back-and-forth volleys between pro/anti WTF/Snowy factions just over the last 24 hours, bombarding eachother with sometimes humorous and sometimes vitriolic diatribes....
At times there are actually some great discussions going on here, but at other times...well, you have seen it for yourself.
I guess the dissatisfied amongst us could always leave this forum for the James Renner Maura Murray Blogspot (which is moderated by Mr Renner) as a last resort!
And, for that matter, what´s happened to posters hannah_b and aftermath recently? Off for some vacations perhaps?

As for the Brianna Maitland case, I believe that the Vermont SP and the NH SP have officially come to the conclusion that the cases are probably not related.
However, on the surface at least there are a number of striking similarities in both cases, primarily in the shape of two abandoned cars and two missing young lady drivers.

What are your views on this matter?
That kind of discussion would be far preferable to continued head-banging exercises here!

That seems very possible to me. It only takes a few seconds for someone to slow down, stop, and for Maura to have made the decision to get into a stranger's car. Not saying that's what happened but it seems very plausible.

I'm interested in any kinds of good discussion. I'm not really convinced of anything at this point other than Maura is missing and no one really knows what happened. I'll try not to step on toes and I'll just skim over the flame wars. I'm new to this forum but not new to Topix so I'm familiar with the in-infighting that takes place. I'd rather not join a private forum so Topix is a good fit for me. Thanks again for all the replies.
