Laurie was my best friend that was found hanging from a phone cord in her barn. She had an abusive Husband and had only been married to him for 3 months. She called me and I didn't get the phone call because the phone was out in my car and I was at work. Then she was gone. I miss her every day.

Suicide or did the husband have something to do with it? Bill

WTH-the-original wrote: <quoted text> Of course it very likely that it can be ruled out. We don't even know if it has anything to do with Maura - yet. And even if it is Maura and if I assume that you would be just as impressed if it was found 3 days before Maura's anniversary. And of course 3 days before or after her birthday. Then there was a 1 in 26 chance that it would have been found during one of those "significant" days. Not like being struck by lighting odds or winning the lottery odds. I mean, wouldn't any self respecting halfway competent serial killer be able to make the skull appear ON the anniversary, not just near it? Bill hard to fathom such naivete coming from a supposed LEO and seasoned PI. i agree with your comments.

Bill- no idea. If he did have something to do with her death they could not prove it. I don't think he did, but who knows, they investigated, they came up with nothing. Unfortunately her Daughter found her.

Wowzer the real one wrote: <quoted text> For somone that doesn't even live in the state you think you know what goes on here. Have you ever even been to NH? Seems like some love making mountains out of mole hills. the problem is not your "defensiveness", Wowzer, it is the push to condemn an entire NH community as "unsafe" for the notion of a missing female under unknown circumstances. it cannot be assumed she was the victim of a perp. i have little patience to entertain the imaginings of those who fear violence, abduction, rape and murder as a standard to apply to human behavior.

Laurieisgone wrote: Danby VT is over two hours away from Haverhill NH, I guess that doesn't really mean anything, but could. Maybe the self-respecting serial killer did put it there on the anniversary but no one saw it, maybe he had to go back and move it closer to the road so someone was sure to see it. It's probably not Maura. Girls that have gone missing closer to where it was found would be my guess. Strangely though on the google maps when you look at the distance between Haverhill and Danby you can see how close Londenderry is. Which made me think of the ping. lots of scattered thoughts in the realm of speculation. the mention of "serial killer" doesn't easily attach to MM's name, much as you and others have tried for so many years to convince the public that she is a "victim" of a "killer". there is no evidence, no proof, pointing in that direction.

I know I am not FrmLE or beagle and I am as close to 100% certain as I can be, just from writing styles if nothing else that beagle and FrmLE are not the same person. I could even understand someone thinking FrmLE or I as being the same. We absolutely are not, but there might be a case made. Similar outlooks, somewhat similar writing styles, etc. But the three of us? Seriously, someone over there shouldn't be in the "sleuthing" game at all. We don't call it webslothes for nothing. Bill always good to knock down stupidity at every opportunity. it's just so time-consuming.

Laurieisgone wrote: Just the fact that in the article they kept saying nothing ever goes on here, nothing around here, nope, nothing going on. There is less than nothing going on around this area. O.K. we get it. Although really lots of stuff goes on around there it would seem. for the decades we've lived in this town, there is a history of only 2 homicides. fact. and i guess the folks in Danby are reacting with a reasoned expectation that there will be an explanation, short of a homicide or serial killer on the loose. they are probably that confident. what do you know? not as much as you think you do about the business of others, or their communities.

Bumping for Maura wrote: <quoted text> Snowy, I see your point there. However, in one of the news videos released on one of the NH channels (sorry, canīt recall which one right now), the reporter mentioned that she had been speaking with local people, who pointed out that Danby Hill Roadīs relatively high elevation makes it unlikely that floods (such as storm Irene) could have dislodged the skull from the nearby cemetery. It was also mentioned (in this news video) that a cursory examination of the nearby cemetery apparently showed no indication of any kind of digging activity. The fact that the skull showed signs of a head trauma - indicating possible foul play - also needs to be considered in this context, IMO. i am in no position to confirm or deny what is known or found. the quote from the article did lead me to believe other possibilities are likely, at least according to authorities.

OK I'll bite http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Connecticut_Rive... SERIAL KILLER still never caught. I live in NH and I love this state but it does attract some weirdos that come here thinking they can just hide in the nice quiet mountains. Every state has them. We have a sex offender that is living right behind our school in Lincoln.

Snowey =you apparently don't live in Nh so what is your dog in the fight? When was the last time you were in NH? Woodsville?Haverhill aren't your locals. I live here and never feel defensive about suggestions of foul play or SK. You would have to have your head in the sand to think that it doesn't occur in your backyard.

When you or John have absolute proof that there's a serial killer wandering around the Woodsville/Haverhill area please let me know and I will take some extra precautions. Until then this is where I feel the safest, surrounded by my friends and family. Sorry for the loss of your best friend. That's a real bummer.

No one here is saying that for certain Maura met with a serial Killer but the possibility does exist and can't be ruled out. The NHSP can,t rule out foul play at this time.
