TeeJay wrote: I agree that Maura left the accident scene because she didn't want to face the possibility of a DUI -- particularly only a few days after she wrecked her dad's car (perhaps also while drinking, and possibly also involving a hit-and-run incident with a UMass student Petrit Vasi), and particularly when she had left school without notifying anyone of her real intentions, which might have simply been to "get away" for a few days and clear her head.(When I was in college, I went to Miami a couple times without telling anyone -- just wanted to be alone and not be questioned by anyone.) But the theory that the committed suicide or succumbed to the elements simply doesn't hold weight. A helicopter search the day after she vanished showed no footprints in the woods (no fresh snow had fallen overnight), and numerous human and dog searches have failed to turn up a body. Remember, it was very dark and very cold when she vanished. Police dogs traced her scent up to 100 yards from her car, then they lost her scent. And the theory that she started a new life of her own free will also doesn't hold weight. She had no car, no money, and was in the middle of rural New Hampshire. How is she going to start a new life and create a new identity in post-9/11 America? How is she going to get a job or a place to live? The only plausible explanation, as far as I can see, is that she got into someone else's car (either willingly or unwillingly) and then something happened. Who knows -- but she was young and attractive and vulnerable, and abductions happen every single day. a few points. and where do you suggest the abduction led? to rape? to murder? remember, a rapist is not so inclined by physical attraction; it is a crime of exerting power over another. re starting a new life - yes, she was in NH, and possibly on her way to an unknown destination, and/or completing a "plan". did she, or someone associated with her life, hit Vasi and she needed to run? was she running with/parallel to someone on her way to a particular destination....beyond NH? did she not have a relative in Canada? etc., etc. all the same factors that annoy the poor Bump.

For those that don't know, you can't get a silver star except for gallantry in combat. It is the third highest award that one can receive. And obviously the purple hearts represent wounds from combat with the enemy. Let me thank you for your service. I was a NCO in charge of a scout squad/platoon in an infantry battalion so we have run in similar circles. Had worked with many rangers and SF guys in my battalion. I learned a lot from them. Great times, good people of course all of the people I associated with were mostly Nam vets, some Korean and even one WWII (CIB with two stars). You guys are the new generation. Again, thanks for what you did. I hope the VA is treating you right since you have been discharged. Bill Thank you very much Bill!! & Yes it is very hard to obtain that medal.. I was wounded 3 times while pulling out a medic UF.. I would personally like to thank you for your service well before mine!! It was an honor to protect this country! The VA is treating me much better now, not that they didnt before, but we didnt have a local one, & had to drive over an hour & a half for services.. Nice to speak to a fellow serviceman.. Have a great day!

The Hadley crash site is very close to UMass. There is an unaccounted for hour (or close to). Iīm beginning to think there could be some significance to it. Did she meet and talk to anyone? And, where exactly was the Saturn parked at the time of her leaving Amherst? Wasnīt there construction work going on at itīs usual designated parking spot?

Most young ladies talk to their friends, maybe they would know many of her real fears (not at that moment)?? IDK.. & I see it said "Brockton" as your location! I have the "Brockton Blockbuster" Rocco Marchegiano, better known as Rocky Marciano, tattoed on my back, The KO Punch to Jersey Joe Walcott.. I have close friends but it does not mean I tell them everything. Iam a very private person. But it does not mean Iam hiding anything. It is just my personality.

Has even taken entire posts off. I have already stated in the past that Kate and Helena Dwyer are not related. Just because one has the same last name as another does not mean they are related. Is every Renner in the world related to James Renner no. You should ask yourself why is it a book writer puts things out to the public as if it is fact and then at a later date changes what he has said? Poor journalism as far as Iam concerned.

I am an open book about most things, but I internalize. If I am stressed about something big, I don't run to my friends. It's dangerous to make assumptions about people, but it's human nature. If I were to disappear right now, I hate to think what investigators might think of me. I do Google searches on all kinds of bizarre things related to my work. In the past few days, I've had to search for "ways to dispose of a body in winter" and "how to buy X drug in X location." I have made mistakes in my past. I've had money problems. I have a history of depression. I could keep going with this list... I can understand why the family might not want certain aspects of Maura's past revealed to the public, because people do make these kinds of assumptions. I do hope authorities have thoroughly looked into all of this though, since you never know. If someone did harm her, it could be someone she knew. Someone she didn't tell anyone about.:-(

There was some talk about a WP cadet living in Haverhill, NH. This (female) cadet apparently lived on French Pond Rd. She was some years older than Maura. Wonder if Maura knew her?

I have no idea where the abduction led (and obviously, I can't be certain that it occurred in the first place). After following this case for quite some time, I tend to think that she was picked up by a local and then something horrible happened to her (maybe in a certain A-frame house where cadaver dogs went bonkers, but where DNA evidence was inconclusive). I definitely think that law enforcement knows WAY more than we do, and that they think it's a homicide, and that they have a clear idea of who did it -- but they don't yet have enough evidence to press charges.
