Just thinking.

That ofcourse is a strong possibility. Det Columbo what do you thing was the motivation for her to leave school so suddenly? There had to be a reason that made her pack up and leave. Even if it was just to get away.

Now we know your not a real Private Eye because you talk about what everyone has all ready thought about and you can't even come up with a new idea here. Good God, Man! Stop stealing everyone else's ideas. I think she was involved somehow. and ran like hell when word got back he probably didn't make it. How many years before its safe for her to come back?

I bet someone in her family knew she was in trouble too because s;he wouldnl't just leave them all without telling someone. Could they all keep this secret? Maybe if she was afraid of getting caught for the Vasi thing.

My theory is the Vasi theory made her take off from school. Taking bets. Anyone else?

Are you saying someone might have borrowed her car while she was working that night and struck Petrit Vasi with the Saturn? If so, any idea who that person might be?

Bart - I feel that the Vassi accident is forcing a piece of another puzzle to fit this puzzle. It doesn't have staying power. I feel that we are trying to make the Vassi hit work in this puzzle because as of right now we don't have another reason for her leaving.

You may be right but without another reason for her flipping out before running away from school there is not a better fit than Vasi so far.

That is pretty tough to assign to her because of another motive of her flipping out hasn't been found.

I will say that the family not opening up about what happened in the past doesn't help people rush to these assumptions.

No your not.

Didn't you and your expert examine the car? Wouldn't an expert and trained detective have found evidence of a human being having been struck by that car? There is nothing seen in the pictures that would have any relation to that damage being done by a strike by a human being.

How is it you and your expert don't know that?

It seems to me that her family at first thought she had left on her own. Fred made a plea for her to return and whatever she thought was wrong they would fix like they always did. Her brother Kurt's poem expressed concern about why she was angry with them.

When she didn't turn up shortly, that's when the family began to strongly believe that she had been abducted. Their conviction seems to be that Maura would never have taken off to start a new life, would not have voluntarily disappeared and purposely stayed away, not contacting her family. However, people do take those extreme steps.

Because maybe they dont know nuthin? How many accidents in how man y days? Come on! Why else would you run away? They all ready knew about the credit card fraud so that was no big deal. The Vasi hit is a BIG deal.

I think your the smartest one here. I like how you write about what you think. WHY DID SHE FLIP OUT? The rest of it is all bullcrap.

I appreciate the thought. If only my boss felt the same way you did.

Until there is enough evidence for me to think otherwise I can't say for sure why she left school. The fact the family won't tell us exactly what happens makes me upset.

Since I'm not judging the Vassi hit because of pure circumstance I will be consistant at the crash site to say that I think the accident in NH with the shock, adreniline rush, and shot to the head from the airbag or windshield I can see her being confused.
She easily could have set off on her own from the crash site having her thoughts all mixed up, and when she finally came to, IF she came to it might have been to late and nature got the best of her.

That is what I think. Obviously that doesn't help the search for her. I could be convinced on a good day that maybe she went into a car, but that still doesn't mean foul play.

IF people want to search for her and look for red cars or whatever they want, I think its great they are showing effort. I would be open to changing my opinion of the above events in the event of some new fact came out.

This is a mystery that creates frustration and I think people forget regardless of the views of what happened we all want Maura found, and if their was foul play we all want justice.

Anyone seen renners new post? Some interesting info. I dont know anything about US law or procedures but is it normal for it to take 2 years to be formally interviewed?

I dont think fred did anything to maura but I just dont understand his actions at all. I mean if he did why has he spent so much of his time looking for her and keeping her case in the spotlight? I just cant see it being him but im open minded. This case gets more weird every year.

For what it´s worth I truly believe that Maura´s Saturn likely was involved in the Vasi hit-and-run case in downtown Amherst,MA.
Maura may not necessarily have been driving the car, as she reportedly was reluctant to use it even for short distances, but a friend of hers might have been behind the wheel at the time.
JR doesn´t want to consider this possibility and quite a few posters here seem to share his reluctance, but IMO the Vasi tragedy likely precipitated Maura´s flight from Amherst.
The Saturn had to be disposed of one way or other.

Not really. The case has not changed in almost eight years. Some of the people here have gotten weirder and more bizarre over the years though. And some of the STORIES have also gotten weirder and more bizarre over the years.

A STORY is a tale that is put out here with no evidence whatsoever to back it up.
