Completely agree.
I saw no details of the search that ever made me think it was inadequate.
I agree what you said earlier about resources too.
You are clearly a very intelligent, and likely very attractive man or woman, with incredibly discriminating taste. 8-)

To all you people with no sense of humor. This is tongue in cheek, though it might also be true. I don't know Keepthesearchalive well enough to make a proper determination, but s/he seems to be off to a good start. 8-)

Ok- lets assume she went west. That would pretty much eliminate her walking into the woods and freezing to death right? Ro would have seen her at the store using the pay phone When RO was leaving or at the stage shop.
FD and EMS would have come across her if she was going East ?
I'm not sure. Do you have your directions mixed?

We don't know for sure who was coming from the East, if anyone. Some people claim that FD and EMS came from the West. I have been told in the past the FD was having a meeting. I am not sure that EMS came from the west including the crew. If Maura went West we don't know if she took side roads and the hasty searches cleared the areas to the West. As far as we have been told. There are far more things we don't know about the searches than we know about the searches. Especially the later searches. Who conducted them, what areas were searched, what POD and POA were listed, what resources were used, were they even competently done? Lots of questions.

The dog followed her scent approx 300 feet +/- east and then the dog lost the scent. Knowing the dog handler I suspect she did a lost track search and still couldn't pick up the scent. Whether it was because the scent trail just was too dispersed or because she got into a car is entirely up for debate. I had never heard there was more than one dog on that search. Anyone hear of more than one dog on that search?
Bill
"Although three dog search teams did not come up with any hits Thursday, a canine team did hit on Murray's scent when a search was conducted Feb. 11.

Scarinza said a canine tracked Murray for about 100 yards east of where Murray's car went off the road."

JWB do you think a smart girl would get in the car with a stranger? Do you think she would get in the car with two strangers? Two men?
Or, IF she was drunk, how drunk was drunk?

I presume, not too drunk to disregard and/or refuse other obvious options for assistance.

She was only approx. 500 FT from the corner and the darkness.

If he was backing in the bus, she would have passed right in front of him, just several feet way. You really think he would have missed that, in the buses headlights?

Do we know if he went into the house or just called his wife to make the call? How long, minutes, seconds?

I would get in a car with Two women lol kidding aside, If they were charming, good looking and appeared helpful I would say yes, If she was cold enough I would also say yes.

Her scent went east correct? If she went west would the dogs have followed her scent east? just asking, I don't have expertise in that area.

No directions mixed, just going with your scenario that she went west to go use a payphone. There are no payphones down the side roads that I know of.

Yes it does happen. But how often does a girl who is leaving school under duress, who was just caught committing a crime, and who's father and family doesn't want to open up about her past. How often does that happen? They're a lot of circuimstances there that just doesn't sit right with me.

I have read as many posts as I can about this. I've read: red trucks, different accident scenes, two accidents, hit and runs, dog walkers, people fightting in a back yard about juristiction, cigarettes, two people in the car, FBI visiting people who were listening to scanners, but I never heard anyone make mention of a girl screaming "help", or someone saying on record that there is some form of solid proof that she was abducted. Add this to the circumstances above and it makes me wonder a little.

I don't understand. Are you saying that after the saturn crashed someone got in it to re-crash it?

intelligent, careful young women are taught to discriminate from whom they will accept rides. let's assume Maura was provided that lesson early in life, and her judgment skills tended toward "cautious".
if not, she would have accepted rides indiscriminately.

further, if she were drunk, her reasoning skills would be abandoned.

1) she failed to stay in the proximity of her car after crashing
2) she refused the SBD's offer of help. by the nature of his job, he would be considered a "safe" option to most reasonable people.
3) which choices did she make that evening?

Wowzer has repeatedly told us Maura had the options of at least 5 residences in the immediate location of the crashed car/slid off the road from whom to ask assistance and/or find shelter.

If all reasoning skills where abandoned as you say-then all bets are off and she might have accepted a ride.

Ms. Smith: I'm concerned about that, because, again, this is, to the extent this is a small community, the people know... the people, the identity of those people is fairly well known.

Mr. Ervin: Has [your investigation] generally focused on individuals.

Sgt. Landry: Individuals?

Mr. Ervin: Correct.

Sgt. Landry: Yes.

Mr. Ervin: Is the investigation currently ongoing as to those individuals?

Sgt. Landry: Yes.

I have no idea. I could see suicide, or she wasn't of clear mind after the crash she took off and died accidentally in the woods because of the shame of the crash and what was going on in her life.

Maybe the family is hiding the fact that she is suicidal. People close to her would feel guilt if that was the case. Maybe by them thinking she was murdered it makes them feel less emotionally responsible.

I don't think my opinion is stronger than anyone elses. I also try to keep an open mind to absorb anything else that they may find. If you have a solid idea in your head you may start to bend facts to work with your opinion.

people do make bad choices at times. We all make mistakes it is part of being human.when you are 20 as a rule you tend to make more mistakes and poor choices (not always). Maura made some bad choices that day no question about it. That doesn't mean that you don't give your full effort and time trying to find her.

When someone makes a bad choice while hiking on the mountains up here and gets lost do you just say oh well, they made a mistake and we have no obligation to look for them.

I would hope that no matter if a good or bad choice was made that the same search effort was given .
