WTH-the-original wrote: What do I know? Good question. I do know, that area is the only reasonable way to get from VT and NY to the Lincoln area or farther east. So many people, we call them "skiers". They use that road continually to cross back an forth. So it isn't locals or people that live in the area who use that road mostly in the winter. There are lots of really stupid "theories" being passed around by people who clearly know nothing about the area, it's people or the commonly known things about the area but claim to know. Like the rate of water in the Wild Ammo during winter. Everyone knows that the rivers in all those areas including the Wild Ammo runs hard in the spring from the snowmelt. Not during February when virtually everything is locked solid in ice. But that doesn't stop people from spouting off with absurd "observations". I know lots more but its not worth trying to share some of it with the people here. Bill I am laughing that they are picking on you, since you look like the only smart one on Franconia Topix. I was reading for an update on the missing girl, but there is not an update only cartoons and fake detectives. Now it is like a reality show, mindnumbingly insane but I cannot look away. Are these people for real, or is there a reward to find this girl, or what is this about? If you live near these nuts I hope you have a loaded gun and a rabid dog.

What purpose does the FBI serve for you. Other than, for whatever reason, making you feel better? NHSP now has a cold case squad. Do you think if it was needed they wouldn't call in the FBI? Bill

I agree that they know things, the question is: to what extent do they know it? These people know an abduction/murder took place, they just have to. I mean the state police know it, the states attorney knows it & so does every PI who's ever worked this case, but for some reason there's these posters that don't? I don't believe it, they know a murder took place they just don't want to admit it. I'm under the impression that very few people actually know the details of what happened to her exactly, I don't think it's a widespread conspiracy. But it's obvious that local LE knew this from day one and have wanted to sweep it under the rug. They have an agenda to not admit what happened here. The night of the accident smith was onthe scene for almost 2 hrs. This is NOT normal for a 1 car accident that slid off the road. He knew a girl was missing & he knew she most likely had been abducted, why do u think he never searched east? He knew she didn't go that way. The perp took her either up bhr or to the west, both directions lead west, not east. Sometime between the time smith was on scene for 2 hrs and them pullin over red trucks that night somebody decided it would look much better if they just denied knowledge of it that night. This has to be why smith chose to lie to the family when try arrived, telling them he thought it was fred driving the car. So that's one definite, 100% no doubt about it documented lie told by the cops, right from the start..u gotta ask why? These cops either don't wanna be the guys who can't catch a murderer, or they r responsible. I'm leaving towards them being embarrassed. Think about it: they have a dying tourism industry in that immediate area but more importantly their tax base is relying on people from mass, Ct & ri buying second homes there & paying property taxes. Remember that Nh has no sales tax so they live off property taxes up there. Like was said above mt lakes is 50% summer homes. If a beautiful young girl was abducted and killed up there, & the cops can't find the person that means there's a killer on the loose, possibly targeting out of state people intentionally. Not a very good thing to read about a town that your thinking of buying a summer house in, right? If they don't pretend it didnt happen who's gonna wanna buy a summer house where there's a known murderer on the loose? How about if u have 2 highschool age daughters? In reality the area is no more or less safe then anywhere else just bc this happened, but to the general public this just does not look good. It's already not a popular place to have a summer home(compared to like Lincoln or north Conway) or for tourism, everybody considers that area a lot more "backwoods", white trashy kind of area, whether that's accurate or not is debatable but this is what people think of the area. The last thing they need is for people from mass to think that girls get abducted there. The public can b a bunch of idiots sometimes and one abduction people can think it's like deliverance or something. When I was in college in Plymouth 5 yrs before this took place everyone said that girls shouldn't drive those back roads by themselves; "you'll get yourself killed" was the reason as I recall. I can't count the # of times I heard that up there. So people already have this idea in the back of their heads, admit a girl actually got taken and killed & your confirming everyone's fears. Bottom line is The cops will NEVER admit that she was abducted unless they have a suspect in cuffs. That's not gonna b good for tourism or home prices in the area & the cops often fall victim to the first budget cuts.

De se wrote: <quoted text> It is entertaining but scary. Is this true that searchers come right in your yards and don't ask first? I'll pray for you and your dog. Lol, r u fkn serious?? Really?? Someone walked through someone's yard without asking first? Wow, Your gonna pray for her and her dog? Why because someone walked through her yard? R u joking here? The thing I always loved about Nh is how nice all the people r, people in Nh r good neighbors still, unlike a lot of other places. If someone loses their dog, nobody goes and asks permission to walk through a yard to go looking for their dog. Nobody would ever complain that someone walked through their yard looking for a dog. But not for a human? R u guys seriously complaining that someone walked through someone yard? I understand that it's probably been a few times and several different people but shouldn't a family looking for their daughter get a little more leeway than someone looking for a lost dog? As for the dog that went through the glass door: that's just bad dog training plain and simple. The dog has no idea if it's a neighbor walking through the yard looking for a dog, or a searcher looking for Maura. So that means that this dog is so crazy that it goes through glass doors when someone walks through their yard? Sounds like one of the worst trained dogs I've ever heard of. Seriously, what kind of dog goes through a door bc someone walked through their yard? If anything u should b praying that this dog gets trained before a neighborhood kid walks through the yard and gets killed by this insane dog. Seriously, since when r people in Nh worried about someone cutting through their yard?? I've NEVER heard of that except in this case..the question is: why?? Would these same people b angry if a neighbor walked thru their yard looking for a dog? I don't think so, so what's the problem.

Yes that did happen in the past but to be fair I haven't heard of anyone trespassing thru the yards for quite some time. Some of the searchers did ask permission while others didn't bother.

I see no logical thought strung together by the posters I'm referring to, I see personal attacks and people squeezing facts to fit the preconceived notion that she was a stupid drunk college girl that got lost in the woods. I would love to see logic, someone who actually puts forth facts of why certain theories r wrong. I would love help eliminating theories. Instead I Get personal attacks & bullshit.
