I live in that area and I don't know of anyone here that has said they blame the victim.
I have said more than once that if she had gone to one of those houses or excepted the help offered by Butch that night then we wouldn't have a need for this forum.
She wanted no help that night.That was her choice.
What other choices did she make that night?

It doesn't surprise me in the least that some of the residents were unaware of the accident. In the winter many keep their curtains/shades drawn at night to keep the heat. Add a TV on or people talking and it would be near impossible to see or hear what was going on outside.
