I honestly dont know who determined she took the backpack with her.

Bumping for Maura wrote: Unless Maura got into a passing vehicle close to where her Saturn ended up on Rte 112, I believe she may well have set off on foot up Bradley Hill Road, rather than running east on Rte 112. If running away from a possible DWI it would have made sense for her to avoid the local highway, Rte 112, and instead opting for the less travelled Bradley Hill Road. I wounder why SBD and LE apparently never searched BHR, as far as we know. Also, does anybody recall at about what time a red truck was supposedly spotted by a local witness somewhere along BHR? Could Maura have been picked up - willingly or not-by the driver of that truck if she indeed set off up BHR? Just some thoughts... I and others talked with responders whom went to the scene that night and it was stated to us that the search to the east only went to the end of BHR on 112 because there were no visible footprints.

Can you provide a link to any news articles that say this second accident happened? That's the first I heard of many news articles saying the same thing. Where in the world did you hear that the car was towed with Maura along? You're stating these things as facts and if they aren't facts it gets very confusing to any new people here. I agree with you. Some posters have put there own opinions out as if they are facts. This is very confusing to others especially to posters that may think they are actual facts. If it is the opinion of another they should state it as opinion and not a fact.

Sorry for all the confusion. I was supposing like always and thought I'd set the stage for that. I can't prove anything. I never heard of a first accident as being a fact, but it could be that Maura had her car towed to Nh and she'd be driving along ready to get into her Saturn once her car was brought down from the tow. It's a new theory of mine. Trying to show how CS might already know there was a rag......someone had seen the Saturn up high while being towed? No nutts or lemons please, I really didn't mean to come across as though making true statements. Again, I am sorry. I still wonder about that truck though. If it really was up BHR and someone really did report it, that could be one way for Maura to make her get away.

Another thing here. If the airbags make the car engine shut down for safety reasons, how did Maura move the car?

Hi Wowzer, no link, no proof except the cottage witness who says she went by, and then there's the Columbo team who all think so. Maybe the logs are incomplete for reasons like this, IDK. I need help to show all the reports of a possible first wreck. So many put the initial accident of a lone female just after 7.

I'll make sure to try and clarify when I post. Sometimes I am hard to understand. I also assume most people will have heard and thought/known many of the things to which I speak. But you're right. New people would be lost in the muck, and I don't want that either..

Don't question my research. It's very possible to stall a car with a rag. For one, I've did tests. Two, you haven't. Let's see your video. Not a YouTube clip, but one you did. Second, you clowns analyze every aspect of this case looking for tea leaves for what? 8 years of spreading misinformation, rumors, lies and smearing innocent people. The police have put more hours into this case than any other in NH history. Let the pros handle it.

dll wrote: <quoted text> Hi Bill - My husband is a classic car guy. Builds & restores them from the frame up. Both body & mechanical work. He also does all the repairs to our daily drivers. I asked him about the rag awhile back. He basically laughed at me. His answer was “no it'd blow right out”. I told him what I'd found on the internet saying it could be done. He didn’t care what it said, he didnt believe it was possible. We’ve been married for over 30 yrs, so of course I had to give him the third degree "are you sure? why would they say you can if you cant? Maybe it’s different with a 1996 Saturn" and so on. His answers were pretty much identical to yours. Hating for him to be right I tried it. Stuffed the rag all the way back in the tail pipe until it hit the muffler. Which wasnt really far. My tail pipe measures roughly 6 1/4 inches. It blew right out. I tried it multiple times in multiple ways. Even with the engine running. It still blew out. Now here’s my quandary. I’d like to try stuffing it further into the actual muffler section. Just to be absolutely certain since no one really knows how far in the rag was stuffed. It should still blow out. But if it gets stuck? I get the joy of explaining my stupidity to my husband. Needless to say I haven’t tried it yet. Have you or anyone else tried stuffing it way into the muffler section & did it blow out? I’d honestly rather have you laugh at me than my husband. Your husband is a complete ass Your husband is not only wrong, he's a dumb moron

Thanks Stud. It's just very hard to let the pros handle it. They don't mention MM at all, they barely want to respond to requests. And I know they have their reasons..... Some lies, rumors and misinformation can be cleared up right here, right now if people will only speak up. JMO Maura is an innocent person too, unless we find her living in Canada or something and then she'll have alot to explain. But in the meanwhile, people can wonder til the cows come home, but with respect in that they don't name names. Point fingers, and that means at Fred too.

Someone else says they have done tests. I have shown YouTube videos of people doing tests showing that it won't work. All you need do, is one test showing how you got the engine to stall. I'd settle for one YouTube video of someone stalling a car with a rag. You don't find it interesting that with all the people out there that have heard this myth, that someone who has tried it wouldn't be on YouTube showing you a success. You can't because it can't be done in any reasonable way with a rag as demonstrated by several failures of the attempt. But, blather on. You are most laughable when you attempt to persuade people of your intelligence and depth of knowledge. Bill

Do not touch hot exhaust systems, manifolds, engines, radiators, etc. Hot components can cause injury or severe discomfort. Whoever did this had to be wearing gloves or using a stick or something. OR it was put there in advance, towed to the area and then driven to look like an accident. It's no wonder people wonder about this so much, it's just stupid. Why couldn't Maura be towed to the area with this rag in place? There seemed to be alot of gas and no one knows where she stopped for (more) gas. Same goes for the food she had. Beth told me it was food in the car, and she worked with Frank for one thing. Worked on Briannas case too. I realize Maura could have simply left her car some distance from school and hook up with whomever. She didn't have to be so dramatic,(if she was dramatic), she could just be on her merry way while police discover her car in Amherst or something. But the contents of the car seemed to be sentimental in nature and may have been a message of sorts, or a goodbye. But for some reason, someone wanted that car to be found in NH or VT. If Maura was such a bad driver, why would she drive that car so far? I feel Maura is ok somewhere, or was tragically misled. For all we know she could be holed up somewhere, unable to flee....... I know, you all must get tired of the what ifs and so on, but then so do I. Maybe they ought to fight for forensics to be done on the hard drive. It may prove to hold somebody's name. What was the package for that was in the car, some sort of bulb or fuse? I don't recall. And is that Londonderry ping true?

I'm going to harp on this one more time. Let the family have a copy of Maura's hard drive. It's something that was left back in Maura's dorm and if everything else went back to the family, can't this "technicality" be overturned too? Dang it anyway. I feel for Maura's loved ones that they can't even look over her computer activities. Someone could have been signing into her account too and Ip's would give that away. I think. Ben Franklin, where are you? Seriously, I hope someone out there reading this will have a heart, 8 years later, to let family have that computer back the way Maura left it. They can keep the dang copies. Ok, I'm done harping. Thanks for listening.

I just wonder why they didn't look through it then before LE came back to retrieve it. Or did they? And do we know for a fact that they weren't given a copy of the hard drive or that the computer was never returned to them a second time?

They said they DID NOT look at it because they were unfamiliar with computers. Kathleen said that and yes, it sat in her closet for months according to those in the know. Maybe it was jammed packed in the back and PI's, no one thought to take it out. This may have been a lost oportunity. You could be right, maybe people did look at it, as that would have been the smart thing to do. I guess we don't know for a fact that they were given a copy or the real hard drive, back. Good point. I wish firecat or someone from the family would come back and help us out here.
