Wow Lady Gray. How quickly you come out to defend just a certain few so ugly rumours don't get started by taking info out of context.
Where do you hide when innocent people here in NH
are barraged with ugly rumours and the people in towns that most likely have never even heard of Maura Murray are called inbreds.
Just wondering Lady Gray why you don't defend those people and try to stop ugly rumours from starting by info being taken out of context.
Just something to think about.
This is my apology to you Wowzer. I am sorry for what I had said, most of what came out was strictly out of anger, because I felt as though I was being attacked. Still what I said was inappropriate and uncalled for, and for this I apologize. But be rest assured I did take your advice and turn over all the info that I had obtained to the Cold Case Unit as you yourself suggested.

You're welcome! And yes, I also thought it was made by Mr. W. And, I came across this while looking for what you asked for. This info is from a family friend who was there among Maura Murray's loved ones in the immediate days after her disappearance and who canvassed the area talking to people:
"As far as the "man smoking a cigarette" goes, in the beginning, the night of the accident, they (W's) claimed that is what they saw. Afterwards, they claimed the police explained it was the charger light from her plug in cell phone charger. However, that plugs into the dash and her car was facing the W's house so there is no way they could have seen the dashboard. When I asked about the man smoking the cig. when I spoke to them (W's), they said they thought the police figured that out and there was no man. Mr. W said that he saw a red glow and assumed it was a cigarette. I was one of the people who supposed it could have been a red glow from a cell phone, but I don't know that at all, it's just a guess."
Also came across this...a posting describing what witnesses observed (I deleted the portions not relating to the man/cigarette).....it's by one of the private investigators....:
".......A "man" sitting in the front passenger seat with the door open smoking a cigarette (the Westmans, Mr. Westman saw the smoking cigarette portion.)......."
Sooo, it's a mystery along with everything else.

You are free to chalk it up to another rumor. I prefer to leave my chalk in it's box for now and further research the "rumor." It was at the time of reading the article by Nancy West and then reading the comment section that I became aware there may have been another woman who disappeared on Route 112 five years prior to Maura. I'm wondering if five years is accurate. If I find anything I'll pass it on. Thanks.
Yes please do pass it on as it makes me want to hide under the covers to think women are disappearing around me and I don't know about it.
Also can you answer why you said Maura might be in Fairlee and how you know for a fact that she had a flat tire.
You seem to be avoiding these questions and they could be very important. If you did answer one of them please put the post number here as I must have missed it.

Please do, you never can tell what might be helpful.

I also think the idea that an individual impersonating a police officer has more merit then hit and run, both having merit, but the first better explains no presence of personal items in the street (flury of activity around car), refusing Atwood's assistance but not a purported Police officer and additional time required to move Maura.

This is all perplexing, so many different accounts and explanations, even the witnesses statements change from time to time.

Now for all we know Maura did not smoke, and her cell phone was also not in the car when police arrived. Mr. and Mrs. W say that the passenger side door was open but once again when police arrived it was not only closed but the car was locked. Could the red light have been those flashing interior red lights that tell you that your car is alarmed? I also read somewhere that some accident re-constructionists had said that the accident looked staged, they also said that the damage to the front left of the car could not have been caused by the snow bank or the trees. Has anyone else heard this?

it was uncharacteristic for Maura to behave irresponsibly and/or to disconnect from her family. certainly, this saga began in Amherst....where she lied, she fled, and she lost contact with family and friends.
mention of the Vasi hit is still a possibility in the opinion of some.....as the timing coincides with Maura's crying episode, followed by her spontaneously leaving Amherst. who knows whom or what she might have been encountered along the way.
as Wowzer says, it's a deep mystery, with so many possibilities.
On the surface what Maura may have said, done, etc. may to us seem irresponsible and possibly it was, but we do not know under what circumstances she may have been say and doing these things. For all we know, she may have been acting under duress.

seems odd that the jurisdiction is in NH. also, i'd think her family wouldn't let go of all the possibilities for information originating from Amherst.

Kinda reminds me of two nights ago. I was pulled over for yanking out a peppermint and I'm guessing I may have jerked the car some. Next thing I know, I'm ahead of flashing police and they want me to pull over. I make my turn and park. The officer would not get out of the car. He barked over his com for me to pull into the fire station lot. I did. Next an unmarked car, solid black, pulls in too. They were both careful to approach me and when they did, they had full lights in my car, front and back.
He asked for my ID and proof of insurance. But it was odd. I said what did I do? He said you were driving too slow,(was not, just getting in turn lane, you're supposed to slow down), and that my car was swerving.
I had to sit there again while they flashed their lights throughout the car. Pretty weird, you'd think they were looking for an escaped convict just because I had made one sudden move while driving to reach for a mint.

What is irresponsible is throwing out wrong information, made up scenerios, and personal opinions as facts when they are not.
How can anyone believe you when you seem to know things that others that have been here for years have never heard about but when asked about the source of your information you refuse to verify the source of your "facts".
I'll ask one more time before you go on the "full of BS list".
How do you know that Maura had a flat tire and why did you say you thought she was in Fairlee?
If you can't answer these questions then just say so and I won't ask again.

I don't remember seeing anywhere where it stated she had a flat tire either. I am also curious to the Fairlee, VT info.

I posted my source about the "flat tires" if not on this forum on the Network.... forum. May have addressed my comment to Bill (WTF). I believe there is some kind of facility (?) center(?) or business (?) there and several acres of land (remote but w/several accessible roads, trails. Team building sorts of skills, survival, endurance training, etc. taught there, I believe. Will refer back to my Fairlee folder and will get back to you. Thanks.

I also find it very strange that Roz seems to be indicating a connection between Fairlee,VT, and Maura.
Also, having been around on this forum for quite some time I have never ever seen any reference whatsoever to Mauraīs Saturn having a flat tyre at the Weathered Barn curve location.
However, if you make a Google search there are many, many references to a new kind of urban myth where a faked flat tyre is purportedly being used by a perp in order to attack and/or abduct female drivers.
Apparently, very few such instances have, in fact, occured but the urban myth is none the less taking hold, it would seem.

I would certainly be very keen to know where Roz found the supposed information regarding the purported flat tyre on Mauraīs Saturn, and also how and why she indicated the Fairlee, VT, location seemingly out of the blue.

Does anyone know how much gas was in her fuel tank? Because there are only 4 places she could have fueled up in that area. One being P&J's at the intersection of 302 and 91, the Shell station in Wells River just prior to crossing into Woodsville from Vermont, the Cumberland Farms in Woodsville, which I believe these three stations have video surveillance. If so one of these places could have had her or whoever was driving the car on tape. Then the last one which the name escapes me at the time is located across from Ocean State Job Lot, this is a full service station and mini mart, someone may have seen her there if she had stopped there. I know there were no more hits on her credit/debit card so she may have paid cash to fuel up out of the money she withdrew, which means someone at the counter of one of these places may have seen her. This is if she stopped to fill up at all because between 91 and Lincoln, NH that is all there is for gas to the best of my knowledge and going by the route she took. Just a thought and I don't know if anyone has looked into this as well.

Looking at a photo of MM's car if you look at the lower left hand side of the instrument cluster you will see that her fuel gauge registers almost full, with the car in an off mode, which means in all likelihood the tank was full when the incident took place.

Indeed, speculations of this sort have occurred a number of times. Did Maura stop for gas, and was she followed? Did someone take her and stage the accident? Was she in a prior accident on the same road, take off, then get into another accident further down the road? Did someone intentionally wreck her, take her, then plant the car further down the road? Was her car delivered to the WB by a truck? Was she ever in NH? Was she abducted by aliens? used in experiments for vitamin research? Taken or killed by friend, family member, local, professor? Possibly intentional possibly not? Did things in her personal life lead to her disappearance? From when and where did she check her voicemail? Is it possible that she didn't take the path that everyone thought? Is there really a video of her in a liquor store (no one ever saw it)? The entire trail from one point to the next has been looked over. I wouldn't be surprised if some of the people on this forum know or have a good idea of what happened to her. It's difficult to say exactly who that would be, but the rest of the people are just left to form their own theories, and unless LE actually solves this case, they will all remain theories and there never will be a consensus. Mason probably did the most thorough analysis, but most of the people discredited him because they believe that he put up a pretense of objectivity when in fact he had an agenda the entire time. I think the people on here are still divided on that matter, but bringing all that up again will probably result in the forum being shut down anyway.

Bill,
Do you or anybody else here know whether the Stage Stop Store on Rte 112 in Swiftwater village possibly had gas pumps available back in 2004?
If so, Maura could theoretically have filled her car up there.
On the other hand, even so, itīs pretty likely that such a transaction would have been noted and remembered by the person/s in the store at the time.
