Much misinformation in your statements. Nursing students don't wear "jackets" or white coats. Please don't make stuff up. Anyway, the entire topic of clinicals has been repeatedly explored without coming to a conclusion, chiefly because of gaps in information. Nice story, but no truths are confirmed here.
Really!... You are a moron.

From a family member of maura's:

“She also called her friend late morning of 2/9/04 and left a message that she would not be needing a ride to nursing clinicals "for the rest of the week" and that the borrowed nursing jacket had been returned and laid on her (the friend's) bed in case she needed it "while I am gone". This information was also gathered by UMass Police and later confirmed by the family when they received her cell phone records.(This was a supporting bit of info by the NH SP for the suicide theory: suicidal people often return or give away things to people - yet they did not know this when they first mentioned suicide to the family on the evening of 2/11)

"Family" is in a perfect position to reveal and confirm the dates and details of her transfer from WP to UMASS, but they won't. So, speculation wastes time, without having access to her transcript. Maybe Renner will have sorted out the details by the first edit.
Wrong again dunce cap.

Multiple family members have talked in detail about maura's transfer from West Point to UMass.

Try again.

first time the term "jacket" has been brought forward. quoting which family member?
most conversations on topix have referenced "scrubs" in the presence of a family member, citigirl, and she never corrected "scrubs" to "jacket" for accuracy.
lots of legendary misinformation is floating out there.

Wow great news scoop Peter Parker.

Questions remain unanswered.

No crap, really!!!!!!!!!!

But not questions about whether maura was in clinicals or when she arrived to UMass, the same school her father graduated from.

it is doubtful, imo, that undergrad nursing students would be wearing white coats. i'll leave the definitve determination to L4M, who, unfortunately, was chased away from topix by resident feral dogs.
Its not doubtful as you say,my daughter WAS a nursing student up until the very day she became an NP..she wore a white lab coat at one of her clinicals..Every Hospital or clinic has different regalia..Split hairs much?

Oh for sure Citigirl, I follow. I just thought I read that the road went on and on and continued on to the reported sighting. I can still remember my first impression when I heard that on the news,~that your cousin was seen rushing along the night of the accident. I scoffed, yeah right, seen rushing along and their just bringing this up now? That's before the boards were known to me. I just couldn't picture it and had a hard time believing it. But now I almost do. I've been stuck in the mud before.....way too late at night, scantly dressed, wasn't expecting it. I heard dogs down the road, had to piddle myself, couldn't see a doggone thing and decided I'd sit on the curb and watch who would dare drive into that mud besides me. When I did, I flagged the two down. Could've been ugly, but they got out their chain and pulled me out. Lucky me, it was midnight. Another time, I slid off the hwy, got stuck up to my chin, that's Minnesota for ya. Got a ride home from a complete stranger, but what do you do? No houses around, no cellphone at the time.....
I do like winter in so many ways, but ice on the cars and frozen doors is not for me.

Wasn't it Maura's first year at umass & the nursing program?
AFAIK she had just transferred that fall.
If it was her first year then I don't believe she had any clinicals yet.
Nursing students don't have clinicals their first semester. They might have them second semester but I don't believe they actually have clinicals until their second year. I'm not positive about that but I do know they don't have clinicals their first semester.
.
What is needed is a timeline based on facts such as specific dates, for example. Even month and year would be helpful. Someone who was not a transfer arrived at Amherst possibly around the time Maura did. This is important as this individual had been at WP. He'd been in MA prior to WP just as Maura had and the probability of also returning to Amherst is worth checking out. Does anyone know the month and year of Maura's return to MA from WP? The two dates may be different therefore does anyone know the actual month and year when she began nursing program?

I 100% have to agree with Jenkins after the kind of day I just had.(!) Anyway, I think he's right to believe that few would ever put themselves through the agony of freezing cold snow on their skin, and keep walking through the untouched snow. As far as we know, she was only in shoes. I think she knew what to do, not so sure if it worked for her, but she knew what to do.

The neighbors claimed to have stopped looking,~ each at various times. But yet Mrs W, was able to put Maura at the car 1-2 minutes beore the police came. That means at least one person did look again. It was my mistake to think Montel spoke about "Maura, as seen", walking away from her car. I think he was referring to the possible sighting by the construction worker.

I don't know the month, because I never did college.
Maura kept on with her chemical engineer schooling at Umass from late January, 2002 (when she transferred), and for two semesters. That's when she made the switch. The following might help.
(That, and someone who really already knows the answer :)

Are students accepted directly into the nursing major?

Yes. Applicants are reviewed by the Undergraduate Admissions Office for direct admission to the Nursing major. Because of the limited number of spaces in the Nursing major, this review process is very selective. Given the competitive nature of admission to Nursing programs at many colleges and universities, direct admission to the major is a real advantage to students.

Freshman applicants have the greatest access to the Nursing major, since students will enter as a cohort and proceed through the curriculum together.

Are transfer students accepted?

Transfer students are considered only if positions become available in the major. If vacancies occur, a notice will be posted on the School of Nursing Website, along with directions on how to apply. Because vacancies cannot be anticipated, there is no guarantee as to the semester in which a transfer student would be able to enter the program. Transfer students are responsible for all prerequisite coursework needed to enter the junior year of Nursing. To be eligible for transfer, applicants must have an overall University GPA of 3.0 or better and must have completed 12 credits of course work at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. For more information, please refer to the Undergraduate Student Handbook. See the section on Admission Requirements for the Traditional track.

Information about Maura's transfer has been sketchy at best for me, and I was pretty inside the loop for a good couple of years.

The point is that Maura didn't just
"decide she'd rather heal people then kill them" as said by a family member. In order to make the switch, and from what I'm beginning to see, Maura had to "doddle" with her chemical engineering for 2 whole semesters upon transfer in (LaTe) January, 2002.
She seemed to have to *wait* for a spot to open up for her in the nursing program. I'm sure she may have *wanted* to get straight to it, but she didn't.

Maura (on the day she disappeared Monday Feb 9, 2004) called and left a voicemail to a fellow nursing student that she had returned the jacket (what doctors wear) that maura had borrowed from clinicals and had placed it on this person's bed because maura told the person she was going to be gone for the week and wouldn't need the jacket.
For awhile, Police struggled to track this info down because the person had moved out of the dorms (by the time police got around to investigating maura's phone call activity)
How did Maura get into this persons room to even place the borrowed clothing on her bed? That doesn't quite sound right to me.
Unless a rommmate let her in or something? I've never heard it put like this before so I'm only wondering.

Trick question for me...
I'll try again.
Maura arrived at UMASS in late January of 2,002.
For two semesters she studied something else.
After two semesters, she finaLLy entered her nursing program.

Does this imply that Maura knew she would also be missing a clinical, and if she was to miss a clinical in that week where she'd be gone, that she would *still* need this persons scrubs??????????

I wonder if there were sororities at Amherst and during initiation something went wrong.if that were the case the events of Feb 9 could all be a coverup.Including someone using Mauras phone to contact the "Jacket" friend..

I wAs going to do something else, but this tripped my trigger.
No one who really knew Maura can fathom the idea that she would do such a thing, leave for 9 years and not call home. Friends too would all feel abandoned and terribly hurt, right?
Maybe she /wAs\ targeted/fatally injured by someone, but it might have to be someone she knew pretty well. Well enough for them to know her places, her words. If the PC was password protected, the only way I can see to do that,(coupled with the fact that she spoke to her Dad about 1 hour before she started looking up directions), would be to get into her room, the confrontation begins and they take over from there. If the person who moved on was somehow using others CC's too, that could be a motive. That Maura might tell...

That ATM picture would help to explain things some.
Why don't they just show it? Can't the family get the last known picture of a missing person? It's not private, ATM"S are public. So what if it's part of an investigation unless......your idea holds some water.
Looking through her belongings, I guess it's somewhat possible to find a check card password. Some banks will send you your first password, and some people will never change it from there. But they'd have to be acting funny to get her out of that room and off campus. You'd think someone would notice even a pretend "passed out" person over some guys shoulders if carried out, even in the dark. I can imagine both side to this idea and I guess it is plausable.
