I still feel that it's highly unlikely the cc fraud wad in any way a motive for killing her though, even If it was 10 times worse. That is possible but highly unlikely. If she got killed over cc fraud or theft, even It was a few hundred dollars, that would have to be a first for a nice college campus. In Springfield a couple years ago a kid named Acevado, iirc, was killed over $300. That was in the city where there is a completely different culture than up on the umass Amherst campus.

All of those are possibilities but you gotta ask yourself the likelihood of it happening. Honestly it seems way more likely that she came across some sick fuck that night who murdered her than someone at umass killing her over a few hundred dollars.

Something that indicates to me that what was going on in her life really didn't have anything to do with her dissapearance is the fact that the FBI investigated the mass end of the case. That was arguably the more important side of the case if you think about it and the NHSP had The FBI handle that. This is garaunteed, the FBI aren't magical investigators, but I believe that if someone in her life at umass killed her they would've been able to figure it out. That is why most murders get solved, the vast majority get solved because the perp knew the victim, had some sort of dealing with them, like they stole their cc. The FBI would look pretty damn bad if it turns out that someone killed her because she used their cc and they couldn't figure that out. How hard would that possibly be to figure out?

What I said all along was that they either made up a witness OR lied about what the witness said, which is obviously 100% true.

I agree that they must've been talkin about the sbd. If you read early news reports it almost seems like there were two witnesses but we now know there was only one who stopped, the sbd.

But either way, they definitely lied about what he said, claiming that there was a witness who said she appeared intoxicated. We now know that the sbd said she did NOT appear intoxicated, at least according to the NHSP and the sbd himself.

So the cops definitely lied, they lied to the family saying that they thought Fred was driving the car and they lied to the media saying there was a witness who said she appeared intoxicated when there wasn't. This doesn't mean there's some giant conspiracy. This is a bunch of local cops trying to cover their asses, make it look like it was her fault, like she was just some dumb drunk girl who got herself lost in Nh. That's not a giant conspiracy, that's cops trying to make themselves look better which is extremely common for LE agencies to do. LE is extremely concerned about their image in general and clearly the HPD is very concerned about theirs.

Emmet I truly have no idea what you're talking about. I haven't heard a thing about any pictures she took at that party. But then. I've never been a part of the "in crowd" here that once in awhile will throw out a tidbit of info that is new to some of us. How did you ever get that piece of information?

I don't share the same contempt for James Renner that has been expressed by the majority of posters here on Topix.

Does he not have the right to "investigate" and gather information about this publicized disappearance as well as anyone? Consider the majority of bizarre and uninformed postings....nearly 30,000 most recently on this site with another 20,000 previously taken down, not to mention WS and FB sites.
He's followed leads, likely often to dead ends. Whether or not Maura's family chooses to engage with him in his endeavor, he remains an author; he writes books.

There is much info floating out there about MM over these many years; most is speculative. I trust his intent is/was to sift through it all, and assemble "facts" to "search" for her.
He has, in addition, opened his blog to comments, thereby giving a voice to family, friends and the public to add their contributions. He is not responsible for the bad behavior of others.

Without the cooperation of first degree relatives, it's highly doubtful JR can connect most of the dots, but my hope is that he will present an organized timeline that is built from accurate, verified information. That, in itself, will be useful.

I heard about that but have no proof that it's true, because I don't know where the info originated from. What was relayed to me is that there was a CD or DVD found in Maura's Saturn that had compromising pictures or video of her with another guy (not Billy). This was told to me by a few people, but like I said I don't know if it's true or just another rumor.

Good Question (about the phone call debacle) that should be answered and would clear up a lot of confusion.

According to what appears in Mr. Renner's post of Jan 15,2012, Maura's bf had obtained the plan (cell phone) in New City NY and kept that number while stationed in Oklahoma. Maura's phone call to her sister occurred at 10:10 PM 2/5. Maura then phoned her bf (at his New City NY cell phone number) at 12:07 AM (which would be 2/6. THEN the tearful episode occurred.

Maura's shift at her security desk that night was from
8 p.m. to 2 a.m.
(This is 100 percent fact and confirmed by me)

Other facts confirmed and verified:

Petrit Vasi found a block over laying in the road from where maura worked at 12:20 a.m.

Maura on her cell phone from 12:07 a.m. to 12:14 a.m.

Maura meltdown at work happened sometime around 1 a.m., based on the statements made by her supervisor.

Maura's supervisor relieved Maura from duty for the remaining 30 or so minutes of maura's originally scheduled shift because maura wasn't able to continue doing her job and needed to be escorted to her dorm.

These are the facts.

Emmett I think it's unfair to just outright call her a thief. That would be like someone describing you as a criminal because you got arrested a few times. She got arrested for stealing the cc, she probably got kicked out of WP for the same thing. That to me looks like a confused girl doing stupid shit, making mistakes like everybody does.

See what I'm saying though? Your don't consider yourself a criminal, and your really not. Gettin arrested a few times ten years ago does not mean your a criminal, same thing as stealingnanfew times doesn't make her a their. JMO
