to simplify, the person and context at issue is MM, not Emmett. the original comparison is apples to oranges. no apologies are necessary if you write what you believe.

However, I make the leap that it is billy just by the pattern of maura calling this particular phone number as many times as she does. I talk to my sister about once a week and I would talk to my significant other multiple times a day vie phone if they weren't with me. Thanks for explaining. I had been wondering how you were able to tell it was Billy or if someone who had access to the full phone bill told you.

Hey orky- there's a few things that aren't lining up with what your saying about this phone call. First of all the call was supposedly received at her wok station, not her cell phone. She wasn't even supposed to use her cell during work hours to my understanding. The second thing is very early on in the case the umass pd came out and said that they were able to trace the location of the call but have no way of knowing who was on the other end. Meaning it was made from one of the phones in the public areas. They said this in the first couple weeks of the case. This leads me to believe that it is a completely different call they were talking about then you are talking about. The thing I don't understand about what your saying is when the umass cop said that was he just completely making the whole thing up? Making up the call, where it came from and where it was received? That doesn't really make sense. I think your confusing some calls, but I could be wrong about that it wouldn't be the first time

I'm thinking what would put me in a catatonic state, so distressed that I can't write my name and need to be escorted to my room. How did I receive this devastating news? A death maybe? Is it just an act for more legitimacy to taking the week off? Hit and run?

Do you see what I'm sayin orky? If what your saying is accurate that means the umass cops were completely talking our their ass when they said that the call came from on campus but there is no way of telling who made the call. When they said this they were clearly referencing the call that made her so upset. Also I don't think it was the media being confused because that was a direct quote from the umass cop in reference to the upsetting call. Idk, but it seems like the upsetting call was made that night, was made from an on campus phone and there was no way for the cops to determine who was on the other end.

Orko Kringer wrote: <quoted text> Note these details: this is an excerpt from an article done close to a year after maura went missing. Hanson whitman Express, Nov 24, 2004 "According to Sharon Rausch, the mother of Maura's fiance Billy Rausch, the last two calls made from Maura's cell phone (on Monday) were to a UMass number and to a couple who is part of a condo association in the area of New Hampshire where Murray appeared headed. The UMass number is pretty much a dead end for investigators, since the person who lived in the room Maura called in February has most likely moved on." Police later discovred the last phone call was made to a fellow nursing student as maura left a message about returning her lab jacket. Somehow this bit of information about the person in the dorm "moving on" got tied in with the thursday night that maura was working and supposedly received a phone call that made her upset. What about the call received on the security desk landline Thursday? Students were not supposed to call or even know this number, only security staff and campus police were supposed to have it. Are you saying the caller was this nursing student from whom Maura had borrowed scrubs/clothing? Or that this incoming call to the security desk phone, which has been the subject of much debating over the years, never took place? Not arguing, just trying to make sense of things.

What did she do when she returned to her room. If truly distressed wouldn't she call someone on her cell or maybe pc? If hit and run I would be looking for updates on the guy I, or my friend, might have killed. So confusing.

hannah_b wrote: <quoted text> She also received a call on the work landline from a phone within UMass campus. The number was supposedly only known to security staff and camppus police. The caller reportedly had "moved on" at the time the call was traced. I´m not sure what time this call came in. Hannah I think your confusing two different calls like orky is, I think. In the first weeks of the case the umass cops said the call came from an on campus phone but there was no way of telling who was on the other end. The call where the person had 'moved on' is regarding the jacket she returned the day she went missing. Can anybody find the quote where LE is talking about the person who had moved on? That kinda makes no sense, If they knew the person moved On they must've known who the person was, if they knew who it was then who cares if the person moved on, call them wherever they moved on to right? But that can't be the call that upset her because umass cops said they knew where the call came from but have no way of knowing who actually made the call. So confusing! How can on phone call be so damn confusing??

Jenky, here you go and take a close look at the dates of these articles. Feb 27, 2004 ---- Caledonian Record "There also is the mysterious phone call Murray received while working as a security person at a residence hall at the UMass Amherst campus Feb. 5. The call reportedly reduced Murray to tears and her supervisor had to take her home because she was so distraught. UMass Detective Davies said his department has been able to track the phone call. “We know the location,”; Davies said.“We have not been able to identify to whom she was speaking. Her friends have no idea who called her." And then just a few days later: Boston Globe March 2, 2004 "Investigators have determined the origin of an unusual telephone call that Murray received a few nights before she fled the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. The conversation upset her so much that she had to be escorted from her job to her dorm room. The call, according to UMass police Lieutenant Robert Thrasher, came from one of Murray's two sisters. But Thrasher said police have yet to receive an explanation of what was so upsetting."

The article I referenced just said she was distressed because of a phone call and that her cell was on the desk. Doesn't say which was used.

Jenky, Police did not discover the person maura was trying to get a hold of (to return lab jacket) until close to a year later. And they told family the reason they weren't able to discover the person's idenity is because they had "liklely moved on" from the dorms before they got a chance to get a hold of them. That is the exact same quote people are using to attribute to the police concerning the upsetting phone call maura received the night she was working that police haven't identified that person yet because they had likely moved on from the dorms. Only one article I know of incorrectly ties the two together and assumes the police are talking about an upsetting phone call (which there is no proof there ever was one) that they are trying to trace from the night maura had her meltdown at work. If there was indeed a real call that police were trying to trace from that thursday night ... why has there only been one article in over eight years to mention it?

It's possible this call wasn't even that distressing to her. Her sister said that Maura was probably just puttin on an act to get out of work early. Her sister was supposedly her best friend, knew her better than anyone else. If her sister says it was more likely an act to get outta work then we have to consider that a distinct possibility. Something else is we don't even know if she wentnri her room. Her boss was only able to walk her halfway to her dorm because of her responsibilities. People on her floor of her dorm said they didn't even know who she was which means that most of the time she probably wasn't staying in her dorm room. These dorms have one bathroom for the whole floor so even if you don't know everyone on your floor personally you know their face, you know who they are. The fact that there are people on her floor that didn't even know her face is a direct indication that she hadn't been staying in her dorm room but most likely off campus most of the time. Maybe with friends but most likely with a guy.

Wouldn't it have to be the cell if it's one of her sisters? What time is that call according to the bill?
