there a few confirmed facts about anything; lots of lore that has been repeated as facts over the years. even the documents and media articles may have holes and inconsistencies; too many variables to build a solid case one way or another. all speculation. that's why her disappearance is such a mystery.

Yeah...it's not as though anyone would have said in THAT 3-minute phone call or the incoming one later that ANYONE might have said, "Okay, I'm starting out now. Will meet you at Lincoln or Bartlett." No two individuals would ever be attempting to synchronize a trip to any one destination. What nonsense.
The 3-minute phone call to Salamones might reflect at least in part whatever length of time was involved in their answering system. It's not uncommon for a business to provide some basic information "up front" via answering system, such as (in their case) rental rates for different sizes of rooms/condos per day/week, and etc. We don't know that they use or used an answering system like that, but as I said those are not uncommon for any business. By the time a caller is done listening and can select whether to call on through to make a reservation, a couple of minutes can easily have passed.

Regardless of whether the cell phone tower was Londonderry VT or NH, I have to wonder how many "pings" go off any cell phone tower at any given moment in time? Unless I misunderstand the technology, anyone using a cell phone in the vicinity of any tower, or anyone even just having the cell phone turned on, would "ping" off that tower. So wouldn't it be true that 15 to 150 (arbitrary) cell phones might have "pinged" off the relevant tower at one time?

How could anyone -- even Sprint -- know what cell phone pinged off that tower when making a call TO MM's phone? Are "pings" routers that route the call? I'm asking this one because I don't know, I didn't think that "pings" routed anything, I thought at most they can identify the cell phone making the "ping" but not where it is calling to. Plus, the fact that simply a cell phone being turned ON can result in a "ping", whether or not a call is being made, kind of backs up my question here as to how could even Sprint know from just a "ping" that someone was trying to call any individual person?

Perhaps because there is only so much you can write when there are no more leads or clues?

He has tried to hint and infer as much as the facts allow, however that's all there is. It's gonna be a boring book, lol.

You track cell phone pings to learn about the "Missing" person's movements.
You do not use pings to find out who called the missing person.(that makes no sense).
If I am searching for someone and I turn to phone activity near cell towers for clues, I am not concerned with who that missing person's uncle/grandma or pet raccoon has called that day. I would look at phone records for that kind of stuff, something entirely different than cell phone pings.
When myself and James Renner talked about this issue when he released the affadavit on his website, we both took it as gospel at first.
I even came to the early conclusion that maura must've not taken I-91 North afterall but instead went way out of the way and took I-93 instead (explains why her phone would ping off the londonderry Nh tower.)
But after further research, I found out it was impossible for her to have gone I-93.
She could not make it into range of londonderry NH by 4:37 p.m. for starters.
Second, it would be a four hour plus drive going from amherest east to I-93 and then up and back to Route 302 and where her car ended up. She would physically not have been able to make it to the area she had her car wreck before 8 p.m.
the wreck was in the range of 7-7:20 p.m.
It is a FACT, that maura's cell phone did not bounce off a Londonderry NH cell phone tower on the day she went missing.
Further research showed, that she would've lined up perfectly with being in the range of Londonderry Vt. by going up I-91, the same route her father to this day believes she took.
Help me here.....how is it a FACT it didn't bounce off a NH cell tower? I understand what you're saying....but where is there proof it's a fact?

So, you're saying that a huge mistake was made in the affidavit and no one caught it? If this is the case then no wonder the info hasn't been obtained if it wasn't NH.

Help me understand all this....I want to.

I am saying that mistakes were made in this affadavit by Lt. Landry specifically.

His wording to me (which is very similar to the same wording he used years later in a separate affadavit explaining why fred should not get info released to him) sounds more procedural than it does technical.

Maribeth conway reported that the "LAST RECORDED CALL" on Maura's phone was maura herself checking her voicemail at 4:37 p.m.

To me this matter was resolved years ago and because James introduced an affadavit out of the blue that was never meant to be up for public debate, has only confused the issue when the matter was already resolved.

I conclude that the affadavit that was done by Lt. Landry resulted in what Maribeth reported in her five-part Maura is Missing series.

From an article done by Sophisticated Edge on Cell Phone pinging

It does note that cell phones can be traced even when the phone is off.

Once again cell phone pings are done to trace phones they are not done to trace phone calls back to the person that called a phone.

"Pinging is done automatically, especially whenever a cell phone is turned on. It is the pinging technology that enables cell phones to work, and this makes it legal. However, how the pinged information is attained, whom it is attained by, and how it is utilized determines the legitimacy of the pinging.

Emergency calls to 911 systems automatically transfer the caller's location, and other information considered necessary for assisting the individual. Law enforcement agents may obtain the pinging records of any cell phone if they get a warrant or subpoena issued first. To obtain a warrant, the agent must prove just or probable cause in a criminal investigation.

Anyone else seeking pinging records must have prior consent from the owner of the cell phone. The cell phone owner must give the service provider consent to release information to those specific individuals.

Benefits of Pinging

Pinging has assisted law enforcement agencies in capturing drug traffickers, murders, and other criminals. It has assisted with search and rescue operations, and medical emergencies. With newer models of cell phones having GPS chips and microphone capabilities installed, police can locate a person quickly. They are also able to listen in on everything going on around the cell phone, even when it is turned off."

I've been gone for a coupla weeks.

In catching up, I notice JWB tentatively held out - and then snatched back - the proverbial olive branch.(Again.)

And, JWB - I have always liked your posts. I was pleased to see you, back to writing like a polite, inquisitive, interested citizen.

I spoke too soon, because within a page or two - BAM! Back to bonkers. Will you please stop with this persecution complex baloney? It's Topix. Suck it up, man. No one is out to get you. Stop nagging at Orko - at least allow him/her a few days to reply to your badgering. Not everyone has mania to assist them in staying up all night, posting on Topix.

Sigh.

Can't we all just....fight about Maura Murray, and our views on her disappearance? This sideshow is bogus.

Regarding Maura's disapperance, this makes more sense to me than anything I've read in a long time. Thank you for your time.

It's not even worth replying much anymore Simply, at least for me. It's best just to sit back and watch the circus and not be harrassed as to what I can see from my window and what I know about the accident.
JWB claims to know who I am and if that's true then he has been stalking me. No forum is worth the worry that a mentally unstable person might possibly show up at your door.

I'm not sure if he gave up on it. He is responsible for having to get a return on his time and investment in book sales. I believe he has left out some posiible information that he has that might be very informative.

Lol, stage 4 jenkoma is funny, but you are full of shit.
3-making errors based on false assumptiins huh? Everybody makes errors sometiimes, we are all humans here. But this point is just stupid. The biggest error based on false assumption on this forum is made by you and your buddies. The whole 'she was drunk' is an assumption, she was not drunk according to witnesses. You then extrapolate from that that she was scared of the cops. I dont think she wanted to talk to the cops but judging from witness statements it doesn't seem like she was all that scared of them. She was at the car for at least ten minutes, that is NOT the actions of someone who is scared I the cops. She could've been out of there in 30 seconds but she wasn't.
Then, based off of those two faulty assumptions you then conclude that she must have walked into the woods through 2.5' of snow to avoid them??? Wow, talk about a faulty assumption based off of filthy assumptions, my god. The woods would have been the absolutely worst place to hide if she was scared of LE, all they would've had to do was follow the giant trail she would've left. Nvm the fact that saying this youn girl walked into the woods through all that snow at night by herself is in its self completely ridiculous.
I'm glad your able to keep it light with me.

A quick update:

I needed to take a break in order to do publicity for the two books of mine that came out this year: the novel, The Man from Primrose Lane and a short nonfiction book I wrote for my Ohio readers, It Came from Ohio.

I'm currently finishing some promised screenplays which will keep me busy into February.

The next commitment I have after that is the Maura Murray book. I plan to finish my research into her disappearance in the spring. The first draft should be done by the end of the summer. I'm hoping to have it out for the 10th anniversary but that depends on how everything falls together.

I have written a little of the book already and have most of it mapped out. It looks to be longer than my first true crime book about the Amy Mihaljevic case. But that depends on how the research goes in 2013. I'll be traveling through New England one more time and hope to take a little detour through Canada and Ireland for this as well.

In the meantime, if anyone has important info that would be helpful to have BEFORE publication, please contact me soon. BeCarriedAway@hotmail.com

James - will there be more information in your book then there is on your website? I noticed the sprint letter to the AAG mentioned 20 days worth of phone calls but you only posted 02/07 - 02/08 - 02/09 02/10. I'd be interested in looking at the repoll and SID's for the day of 02/11 and 02/12.

Just wondering if there might be some more things to look forward to reading about.
