It would be interesting to know whether Maura decided on 2/10/04 to drop out, or even to switch classes.

it would. still doesn't make sense to me, horse, donkey or otherwise, that her transfer from West Point to UMASS was an academically smooth transition, major to major, and credit to credit. |

Judged: 2 2 2 It will take more than you, snapping your fingers, to make anyone in his/her right mind to believe that Maura ran away. "Snap" all you want. |

Judged: 2 2 2 It might make more sense to you Snowy if you were to rev up your computer and take a look at the nursing program curriculum at UMASS....and then take a little peek at the chemical engineering program curriculum at West Point. Process this information. In my opinion the UMASS Program is rigorous and certainly challenging. However, the West Point Chemical Engineering Program is extremely rigorous in my opinion (in anyone's opinion for that matter). It couples academic curriculum w/military training. It is my understanding that Maura's academic performance was well above average at both UMASS and West Point. Compare required math courses in both programs (at ANY college or university). GPA requirement at West Point I believe is a minimum of 3.0; many other places require minimum of 2.5. There are many considerations when an individual enters an academic program. Academically, Maura was performing in the high range. She was an exceptional young woman in many respects. |

Judged: 2 2 1 Ralph! Ralph! Calm down....take a deep breath. Count to ten. Exhale! Again...take a nice, deep breath...hold 'er and count to ten.... Exhale! There now, don't you feel better? Right. If you do not find this calming....get in your shower and scream.... If this does not work for you.....stick your face into a nice, fluffy pillow and scream! There. Feel better now? |

Judged: 2 2 2 does*not*matter. as i said before,(and you were probably around then), the rigor of a prestigious institution, and especially in engineering, is course-specific, not well-rounded, as you'd find at a public institution/state school, such as UMASS. there are credits/requirements that do not transfer and/or must be met. it is highly unlikely she was able to neatly transfer school-to-school, major-to-major and credit-to-credit without a lapse. in addition, we've been down this path before...and i do detest redundancy. |

Judged: 2 2 Beagle, Can you identify WHY there is "too little to work with?" You bring up an interesting point. |

Judged: 2 2 1 Well-rounded as you say is just another way of saying liberal arts (education). What I'm saying Snowy is that math courses for example may have been higher level and therefore she may have received credit for this at UMASS. Today even 2-year colleges offer what is known as math for nurses.... What I'm saying is that the math requirement at West Point is higher. Compare curriculums and you'll be able to see this for yourself. If a person transfers credits for higher level math courses.....they will be allowed credit for this, for example. Don't worry about any lapses.......you have all you can handle just tolerating "redundancy," remember? Have a consult with your "donkey" sense (I believe this is what you called it).....this might help. |

Judged: 2 2 2 A lot of people have said that there was so little information in the MM case. Others concluded that there was a lot of confusing information and this contributed to making Maura's disappearance such a great mystery. |
|
Judged: 2 2 1 Beagle, "Dropping out" was not on her agenda of things to do. Had she planned to "drop out" she would not have taken her textbooks with her and she certainly would not have contacted some faculty and her supervisor to let them know she'd be away for a few days. She would have just disappeared. Please do not tell me that she had the textbooks with her as they served as a transitional object!...someone mentioned she had her favorite book with her because she planned to suicide........ Now really....this is a bit much. The ONLY thing in that car that someone considering suicide might use would be the alcohol. But when about to suicide, there are few who'd be dedicated to mixing drinks. It's be straight out of the bottle (Jack Daniels or something similar}. She was abducted by someone she knew or possibly someone she did not know. Given the short timeframe of when the SBD spoke with her and the officer arrived, abduction seems more likely. |

Thanks, love....and bein' it near Valentine's day and all....what more can one say, but thank you! |

Judged: 1 1 1 Snowy, given you lean toward the runaway and "hiding out" theory....here is a question you may be able to answer. Recall the dog lost Maura's scent at the intersection. Then a few months later (April?) a witness came forth stating that he saw a woman running who fit Maura's description approximately 5 miles away (away from where the Saturn had slid off the highway). If Maura had ran that distance, four or five miles....why did the dog lose her scent so nearby? Why didn't the dog continue to follow scent? |
|
Judged: 3 2 2 i can assure you i have a better handle on this than you do. math is fine. other pre-reqs would not be transferred, or were not taken. nor has it ever been made clear whether she transitioned to UMASS without a semester break. nor do i believe anyone with feathers. |
