For the person that thinks Maura has been forgotten by the people and media in this area you'll be happy to know that besides some pictures and info on her being missing on channel 9 WMUR (which I provided a link to awhile back) there is also another picture of her and information on the Dec.14th edition of the Mountainside Guide once again. Just because you don't read all the papers doesn't mean that there has been no information on her being missing in the local papers.

Holy crap Aftermath, Your posts are starting to read like one of those stories in a cheap detective magazine! I'm going to assume that you are taking a creative writing course and this is an exercise suggested by your teacher. Don't let any ones critique bring you down, it's very common for ones first efforts to come off as weak and lame. Practice makes perfect I say. I suggest adding a Psychic connection to the killer to your plot. in my opinion this will add texture and complexity to your story while explaining your ability to identify the killers feelings and thoughts. Hopefully, you develope this character a little more in your next installment and build some suspense for us before identifying him. Another little gimick I would suggest to add intrigue; give him a weird quirk like the killer with one Red Tennis Shoe or in this case Bowling Shoe. I understand your Whole killing the ex girlfriend over and over again ala Bundy, but come on, lets be creative here.Maybe suggest some sort of childhood trauma involving bad cell phone coverage or maybe some thoughtless care giver shoved his favorite baby blanky up an exhaust pipe. Maybe you could throw in a complete profile from Quantico in there, so we can all start suspecting our slightly odd relatives, friends and neighbors. Remember, build this character, add suspense and intrigue and give us more than one suspect so we are unsure of "whodunnit" to the very end!

Aftermath wrote: <quoted text> findmaura, While there is now someone who can be identified as responsible for just about every unsolved murder in the U.S. and Canada, the possibility exists that this guy may have stolen someone's identity. An article appeared in the Kitsap Sun dated Aug. 15, 2008 involving a situation of double homicide and suicide. I. Keyes is an unusual name, a name one remembers. Therefore, when hearing about the I. Keyes who'd been picked up by authorities in Alaska....I searched to find where I'd heard the name I. Keyes before. Found it in the Kitsap Sun, article dated Aug. 15, 2008, "Montana Murder Victimes Identified as Former North Kitsap Residents." Although an age difference exists between the "two" I. Keyes, it is not that great. Did some research regarding the names involved in the western Montana incident and found a strong connection to the State of Washington. The couple worked on construction, she a welder. Wondering if whoever the fellow was in Alaska had stolen the id of the western Montana I. Keyes. I think I. keyes is I. Keyes..his history can be traced back to childhood. His mother&4 sisters attended his funeral last week..His upbringing could play a role in his killings. His family is involved in a said white supremeistIsh cult like religion..just plain odd people.

Aftermath wrote: <quoted text> Bill, You have to be playing ostrich if you continue to deny the large number of female abductions along highways in VT & NH...especially NH. Someone abducted Maura....and it is my belief that you have a good idea who this guy is. He also gets rid of the occasional male.....you know... the one he sees as a sort of nuisance who is oft times drunk and staggering along the highway. Wonder how long your little charade will continue....not just you. It appears that there are others who have a fairly good idea who this guy is. Kind of awkward, I would imagine. Yes. Incredibly so. This may be unpopular, but I just might agree with you..My hidden agenda theory.....One of many.

Aftermath wrote: Everyone was so dedicated to the snowy woods of Rte 112, no one.........absolutely no one considered the Fairlee VT area. That guy most likely had the highway worn out delivering bodies there from the Claremont area years ago. Talk about a tragic travesty. He has nostalgic feelings for northern VT...some kind of attachment to the Craftsbury Common area....at some point launched himself into the Claremont area and almost wore out the I-91 stretch of highway. There is some connectedness to Fairlee and it happened long ago before he had to head there on the evening of 2/9. The connection? I do not know. From the interstates to wooded areas...he's very comfortable in the woods even at night. Its quite obvious you have someone in mind..Can you expand on any of this&how you reached these conclusions.hmm, woods at night.

Years ago, when I was single and had no children, I left NH with a backpack and roughly eighty five dollars to travel the USA. Spent eighteen months doing it and had the experience of a life time. I found day work everywhere I went and was able to finance my trip by being willing to do any odd job that came my way. Weeded gardens, worked in a tofu factory and even did a season on a fishing boat in Alaska( No Aftermath, I'm not Isreal Keyes and I really didn't have time to do any serial killings). I stayed in Youth Hostels and met amazing people from all over the world. Back packers are by nature a fairly eclectic group. It was during this time that I became the unwitting participant in an accidental social experiment that reminds me of this thread on Topix. I was working as the assistant manager of a Youth Hostel right outside of Seattle Washington. It was late in the year and the season was almost over. Foreign travelers were pretty scarce so we decided to book anyone who seemed reasonably acceptable as we needed the income. One week we got quite an influx of local people. As the week wore on, this particular group got weirder and weirder, to the point that they were making the few actual Back Packers we had more and more uncomfortable. Conversations were becoming odd and behavior was becoming more off of the wall. It was becoming like an episode of the twilight Zone! I was new to this job and had no idea what was going on. We had a staff meeting and came to find out that one of the local mental hospitals had closed over budget issues and they had put a contigent of the more harmless wards onto the street! A large portion of this group had come to us for cheap lodging without informing us of the situation. Most of these people had been on pretty strong medication and without the proper supervision, had quit taking it! As the week wore on and as their medication wore off They became more and more off of the wall. Once we understood what was going on, we were able to enlist social services and get these people the appropriate help and placement they needed. The point here is that, when you are surrounded by crazy people and you are not informed of the situation, you really will start to question your own sanity! Sometimes when reading posts here, I feel like that group has made their way here to Topix! I'll say it again; People, take your medication, relax, give it some time to work, let the rambling thoughts subside and then try and relate from a more balanced perpective!

Listen- i live in a small town also and near the haverhill area and I don't protect the locals unless I know for sure they are not guilty. There are some strange charactters that flock this way and there are awesome people also- more awesome than not but the strange element does exist. fyi meth Drug bust in Tilton today- so yea it happens here. my fried that io work with says many busts have happened in thornton area as well. I get protecting neighbors but don't put your head in the sand and say it wasn't a local, May have been- maybe not. The rumble in that area is that it was.

I prefer to not live my life in fear. Fear is an artificial wall we put up to protect ourselves and can can be dehabilitating.I prefer to be aware of my surroundings and not put myself in a position of danger while at the same time enjoying my life.

A certain sadness about it. I nearly died in the north country area at 2:30 a.m.,3 or 4 years ago on that severe bend in Fort Covington. That entire Franklin County area has a lot of history and much tragedy including Lake Champlain area. An early war zone, it's as though the lake had been created from tears. Really.

Ayotte's movin on up. Below from: http://nbcpolitics.nbcnews.com/_news/2012/12/... She also said that part of her interest in the Benghazi attack is rooted in her experience as a murder prosecutor when she served as deputy attorney general and then as attorney general in New Hampshire. Part of Ayotte’s prominence is simple to explain: in a Republican Senate conference that’s largely Southern, Western, and male, Ayotte is a woman from the Northeast. In the New Year, there will be only four female GOP senators: Susan Collins of Maine, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, the just-elected Deb Fischer from Nebraska, and Ayotte. It seems likely she’ll continue playing a highly visible role, perhaps as a candidate for vice president in 2016.
