Snowy wrote: <quoted text> too many unanswered questions at the source, amherst, where her disappearance originated. your point that our lives intersect with others in unexpected ways is well taken, but connecting the dots in this matter continues to be the challenge. the best advice may not be creativity, but fact-gathering. and the good news is that my opinion doesn't count for much more or less than anyone else's. Pamela W. was not at Amherst, Christopher F. was not at Amherst. Others whose remains have been found in wooded areas of NH did not attend UMASS Amherst. One victim had attended UMASS-Amherst (22-year old Shari R ....she had attended UMASS Amherst and had then attended Syracuse University). I believe her remains were found in 1977 between Bartlett and Lincoln NH. She'd gone for a hike on Sawyer Brook Trail in Livermore, NH. Autopsy indicated she'd been strangled (Pamela W. had also been strangled). I believe Shari R. had been living in North Conway NH at the time of her disappearance. The number of years that have passed between Shari R.'s murder and more recent disappearance leaves one believing a different perpetrator may be involved. However, this might not be the case.

Stephen, I responded as I did to Bill's comment about being a "dumb" engineer because it seemed as though he might be attempting to elicit some reassurance.... LOL. You obviously took my response too literally! Clearly Bill is by no means a self-deprecating sort of guy!

Snowy... Maybe you need a cup of tea or something. All of these murders and disappearances are not going to be solved by reviewing everyone's transcripts. It sounds like you are becoming just a tad bit transcript focused. Really. These cases are not all linked to transcripts. There is a common thread involving several of these cases, however. While I do not believe that MM suicided, I know some hold this belief. Snowy, a few days ago in response to your comment that I follow several of these cases across the country, I decided to sort through some Wisconsin material. Many of you who lean toward the suicide theory may or may not be interested in the following: www.usma.edu/a final salute

Snowy, I wonder how many disappearances and reports of homicides it will take for you and others to come to terms with the obvious that these cases, Maura's included are not connected in any sinister way with Amherst... Bodies in wooded areas, bodies off the highway, abandoned vehicles, missing persons....many had no connection with Amherst. Amherst is not the link, not the common thread bundling these cases together. The common factor remains out there cruising on the highways.

[/LAUGHABLE] Earth to Captain Idiot, come in, idiot. As "idiotic" as this sounds....when she initially disappeared many decided she was a runaway or a suicide statistic. Even though family members and those close to her vented their frustration, stating this was not the case. They knew her best. They knew she had not run away, they knew she had not taken her own life. What I find insane is that while there were the options of runaway, suicide or victim of foul play, many then and even now continue to adhere to the 2 least likely possibilities (runaway; suicide). Therefore, I ask myself, "Why?" Why, after 6 years have passed are so many refusing to believe that she might have been abducted. This in itself is very telling....about many of these cases. Why continue with the same line of thinking in terms of investigation, exploration even though several years have passed without no answers. Why NOT explore the possibility that the person was the victim of foul play? So many continue to cling to the view that people either run away or suicide. Continuing to adhere to these two options while cognizant that remains of other victims have been found in the area seems more than a bit strange.
