Frostman wrote: <quoted text> I don't believe "CW" saw Maura or anyone else on that stretch of road that night. CW was questioned by LE, a PI and others in the week following the disappearance and recalled or revealed nothing about the sighting. Then 10 weeks later (after a reward is offered) he throws that sketchy information out there at while browsing at the local store. JMO. I agree with you on this also Frosty. Found it strange that LE put credibility into the statement.

JWB wrote: <quoted text>I asked around my area to those that hunt and they couldn't come up with a Mathew they knew of that hunted. I can't see anyone saying he found these things and told police if he didn't find these things because I would think he could be in big trouble for interfering with the case.
Mathew posted with a woodstock addy but I guess it doesn't mean that is where he actually lives.
I believe it was also shown on this forum that LE did in fact test evidence found at the same time frame that mathew was tsaying he found the duct tape. I think Hannah posted it or maybe Mcsmom not sure. I think there was an article in a local MSM paper about it, but the results were never revealed. It could have been someone who had a sprain or cut and only had duct tape to wrap it with in the woods. I think we all had visions that it might have been a gag used to subdue Maura or another woman but it was most likely nothing of any consequence.

Frostman wrote: <quoted text> Matthew's post is on the Amherst forum -- he said it was in a field at a lay-by where hunters park to go into the woods ~ 6.7 miles (IIRC) from WB corner -- southeast. Being a flatlander I know nada about lay-bys..Guess I imagined it a sandpit..Ive never heard if these items were ever actually tested by LE..

JWB is correct about the lack of hunters-hikers east of the crash. Responding units per Grafton county's call info doesn't state any units from the east on 112 towards 116 and maybe further. I find it ironic people describe mm walking from the site. She was a runner, and a good one at that. What would fear and adrenaline do for a trained runner on a state maintained highway at night? Let the snow amounts fly or the footprints lacking...theres a reason nothing has been found, nobody has looked in the right place yet. Dismissing the running theory from snow or footprints on the shoulder pushes people to think mm is in Canada or a vasI hit, etc...What about people's driveways? Would you know someone ran through your yard when your watching tv, sleeping, or listening to the radio? Or if your property was a camp and snowed before you got back to it to plow? Its so easy to dismiss the things some people will do in extreme situations in the wilderness.

Who knows if the car was locked -- the reports vary widely from locked to doors flung wide open when SCh drove by after her shift at Loon.(SoCo article) Maura could have been taking extra precautions because the Saturn would still have had some trade-in value.

If you take Mr. Google Map for a test spin you'll see the gravel parking area on the north side of 112 about 6.7 miles past WB Corner.

Just a thought as it is a cheap place to stay that I don't know if you need a reservation. Hate to even utter this because it causes a stir..But kinsman area is exactly where Liko was murdered.I wonder Which PD has that jurisdiction?

I know FM searches the woods. The rag in the tailpipe was described as a quick fix for a smoking engine. MM wasn't supposed to use the car, FM was going to bring her to buy a new one the next week. I thought the rag was a sign, sabotage, it's neither. Its a non-mechanically inclined way to fix a smoking engine so she could use it by campus for errands. I don't believe in the foul play. Some people lead down that road but for MM's sake I hope if she is out there, she went peacefully under no hands but God's.

Do I remember the Rt 116 intersection has a green sign with towns&distances on it?If so could Maura have seen a town listed that she was familiar with and took 116 to travel?

She reportedly had a hamstring injury and her running shoes were left in the car with her toiletries and textbooks. And the fact that the SAR dogs picked up her scent and then lost it down the road convinces me that she got into a vehicle, either willingly or she was abducted right there by murderer(s) unknown.
