Research, what a great idea. Let’s do some.

Age date location manner
Webb 32 07/18/89 franconia, nh unk murder
Reed 30 09/06/91 plymouth, nh stabbed

Winans 26 05/28/96 Appalachian va throats cut
Williams 24

Chaput 52 11/15/01 pinkham notch trail stabbed
Murray 21 car 02/02/04 missing

Let's see a double murder of 20ish year old Lesbians in VA tied to a 52 year old Canadian sociologist's murder on a trail in Pinkham Notch NH tied to the disappearance of a 21 year old MA student on the road in Swiftwater, NH after a minor car accident. You still see a single thread winding through here? I'll point out one other MAJOR difference in these other people and Maura. ALL THE OTHERS WERE FOUND. Now that might not seem like much, but if it is a serial killer, and that is what he wants to have happen, that is why it happens. Otherwise we wouldn't find a single or double. We would find a large cluster. Since Maura is still missing. If, again if she is dead, that alone makes this unique and not likely the work of the serial killer (snicker) of all these other people.

It makes no difference in this case who the post was addressed to. Everyone can see it. My "redundant rants" are needed to keep new people like yourself in check instead of getting hopelessly lost in the pursuit of made up "discoveries". Like so many before you. I know this is all new to you. Many of us here have seen it many times before.

Every living person has something "going on" in his or her life, hopefully. Bodies have been found in Grafton County and elsewhere...and it seems reasonable to assume that their deaths were not due to whether or not they'd had taken a chemistry course. Talk about insane micro sleuthing! Yes, totally insane. Instead of attempting to turn the lives of the missing and the dead into a soap opera, possibly some focus should rest on Grafton County's Mystery Man who visits his old haunts in Vermont. Nostalgic moments....especially the Craftsbury Common and Montgomery area. Let's ask why anyone would abduct someone from the Maine Turnpike....and then place her body in the Franconia forest? Hint, hint....this behavior has absolutely nothing to do with whether or not anyone had taken a chemistry course. Let's start with Mystery Man is familiar with Grafton County....with it's people, with it's traffic patterns, roads, its busy periods of day and night.

And one more thing that a poster a little way back brought to mind and perhaps explains some of the paranoia. Did anyone ever stop to think that if you have a dry well in your basement that you use to drain your washer water into that it becomes clogged and you might periodically half fill the washer with several gallons of bleach and let it run through the cycle, down the drain, and over the rocks to break up the lint that clogs everything up? And that this bleach is available at its cheapest price at BJs but only in larger case quantities? Is that what the bleach thing and Quija's comments among many others about meth labs and amphetamines was all about?
And Maura's family tacitly endorses this kind of Nazi vigilante behavior???? Her sisters, father, cousins, and close friends, who should obviously know better, never once denouce this kind of dangerous leaping to conclusions? If they cannot distance themselves from all this, they bear the responsibility of whatever results from at least the old MMM forum and probably the various incarnations of the Topix threads, too.
It's pretty damn obvious that Det. Columbo and others think I killed Maura Murray. And it's increasingly apparent that Maura's family believes the same. I guess a whole lot of people think this. If you can't put me in jail, you think maybe you can make me self-destruct. Good luck. This isn't a gd game of Clue!!!!
i missed the bleach thing. Quija, curious, creative and well-read, spent a good amount of time actually trying to solve this disappearance. so have some of the ducks. and FL, too. and others. as you (or someone) recently said....everything's been surmised and discussed....and there are probably ideas still unexplored.
until there's one piece of conclusive evidence which, as you say, points in a certain direction....there is little point, imo, of imagining all kinds of scenarios (including Roz's favorite...abduction by the boogey man) that remain unproven at the most basic level.
and, Beag, not to worry about fingers pointed your way....i think the tree with the blue ribbon would be accused if it shifted slightly or moved it's branches too vigorously in the wind.

Suppress your excitement "Snowy.." He is certainly not your type of guy. He absolutely does not fit the "boogey man" profile. Not at all. It seems that he excels at hiding bodies however. He is comfortable in and has knowledge of the forest in many areas...especially central and northern Vermont, several areas of New Hampshire and in particular Grafton County. Although it seems he's visited Maine on several occasions, he's less familiar with that area. Oh...almost forgot. He's extremely familiar with Fairlee VT as well.

Hi Bill,
Sorry you had to remove my initial response to what you've written below. Seems I'll just have to summarize a "re-write." LOL. I'll just "add" to your comments. Hopefully, you printed what I'd previously written so you can compare for content:
WTH-the-original wrote:

Webb 32 07/18/89 franconia, nh unk murder (abducted by predator on Maine turnpike; her remains were found off Route 3, in Franconia. Met with violent death; pressure to neck area...possibly manual strangulation or otherwise. Lower half of body? Bill....don't you think KNIFE may have been involved? Certainly not wild animals. Cannibalism?(affiliated w/longterm deviant behavior?)
Reed 30 09/06/91 plymouth, nh stabbed (stabbed multiple times..KNIFE. Predator believed to have been someone Ms. Reed had known because no signs of a break-in. Ms. Reed may have met this fellow before. She had no idea of his level of rage. He's difficult to assess because he is overly socialized and knows the "rules" of endearment.
Winans 26 05/28/96 Appalachian va throats cut.("Cut?" Bill, don't you mean "slashed?" These were violent murders (KNIFE involved). Winans it seems had crossed paths with this predator at Craftsbury commons in the early 1990s, possibly 1990. It's doubtful that they were killed for the reason you and others believed. She left the area and headed for Maine? Anyway she returned later to VT. He followed her to that National Park. Had it not been for that strand of hair that did not match that of Mr. Rice or the two women, Mr. Rice would have lost his life even though he had insisted he was not guilty.
Williams 24 (It appears Ms. Winans was his target, not Ms. Williams...but she was there and he could not leave a witness). This predator has difficulty "letting go" of rage evidentally. His memory is good. These murders were not indicative of episodic, spontaneous bursts of rage. Stalking and hanging onto a considerable level of rage until 1996.
Chaput 52 11/15/01 pinkham notch trail stabbed (Bill, you mentioned that she was a sociologist. Are you sure of this? Her murder involved several stab wounds (KNIFE).
Murray 21 car 02/02/04 missing.(Bill, you are well aware of my comments regarding Maura and I do not plan to go into detail once again.)

so you should march your tushh over to the authorities and announce you hold the keys to the mystery...you have the clues...you can identify the suspect...the one that "excels at hiding bodies". the killer. you're unbearably smart.

WTF/Bill,
There is a need to make a correction regarding something I mentioned in your research "paper." The year(s) Winan and the predator most likely first crossed paths may have been as early as the late 1980's, possibly 1989. I'm uncertain as to the exact year, actually...but let's consider 1989 at Craftsbury Common, VT (as opposed to 1990). Hopefully, this is more accurate. Please keep in mind this is only my opinion.

tell me though, what drew Maura to that area? I have not a clue what happened to her---but I think it START in Amherst. Until someone figures out where it started for sure, the search for the answer to what happened in the end (if it has come to an end) is fruitless.

What bodies have been found in Grafton County? How does that # copare to other areas of similar population and georgraphy?

yes I realize she and I share the view, but who are the people whose bodies have been found in Grafton County and how do those #'s compare to data from similar areas? I'm only aware of one woman in the 1980's--she lived in Mountain Lakes and athough I don't know the final outcome, it was believed that her physician husband killed her. I know of one other middle aged man in the past year or so, but he left a note clearly stating his intetnions back at his residence in Massachusetts.

In what way would the Winans/Williams murders be connected to Maura? These killings are considered hate crimes b/c they were lesbians and the perp was already imprisoned at the time Maura disappeared.
From St Paul Pioneer Press, Apr 11, 2002:
"Rice told investigators he “hates gays” and that Williams and Winans “deserved to die because they were lesbian whores.”
