Hey Beag, trust me, as soon as I started asking questions outside the norm, I was visited by the police at my house in NH--accused me of breaking into someone's house in Mtn. Lakes and stealing a laptop. I have proof of where I was when it happened, so they had no argument....but know that you aren't alone with the harassment.

Snowy--Do know that I am not hear to prove, or disprove anyone. I love the area of NH where Maura's vehicle was found---it ha sbeen special to me all my life but I cannot deny that it has its pitfalls, just like every other area. Knowing the area well, its hard to believe that some bad guy just came and swooped maura up--its pretty desolate during the night in February. The sisterhood and the ducks huh? LOL! can't be much further from that if I tried! I'd just like to know what happened and am willing to accept any FACTS that come through. I have a special interest because I was followed as a nursing student and harassed while at my clinicals at RI Hospital in 1995--to the point where I needed security to escort me in and out of the hospital each time I was there.....it ahppens a lot to nursing students and makes me wonder if it was happeneing to Maura as well----it is said she was sostressed so early in the semester....makes ya wonder what was REALLY going on.

just a final note before i move on ~ i am not convinced that rural NH, VT or ME are any more or less dangerous to a young woman than any college campus. unless Maura was most unlucky, i, too, doubt that she was abducted around the location where other women have lived and traveled without harm coming to them. nursing students, female athletes and sorority sisters attending private or public institutions of higher education...so many possibilities have been discussed...no solutions, yet.

It's too bad this case was not turned over to the FBI completely and immediately..... shortly after Maura disappeared.

Pizza parlors, credit cards, the Petrit Vasi theory..........what next? While all of this nonsense in terms of redirecting attention from another area of interest might have its purpose.........why isn't anyone investigating some questions that were never answered? All of these PIs..........and all of the searches, all of the investigations, discussions and yet everyone appears to be dancing around a few questions that apparently have long been unanswered. It's like a blue ostrich in the room.....everyone seems to be circumventing the obvious.

Given that there have been other disappearances and actual bodies (remains) in fairly close proximity to where the Saturn slid off the highway, "abduction" theory makes sense. My understanding is that Christopher F's van was found not too far away (through woods) from where the Saturn left the highway....and then of course we have other cases such as that of Louise C. and Pamela W. as well as others.

The people who live in that area report they feel very safe. Undoubtedly they most likely do feel safe. However, it seems that people visiting from outside of the area are running risk of disappearing or having their remains found in the White Mountains....and I've only mentioned MM, CF, PW and LC. There have been others who have met with similar fates.

It is very possible she did know someone who lived in the Grafton County area. After all, she'd camped, hiked in that area for several years. Maybe she DID know someone in that area....a person family may or may not have known. Maybe a group of friends, people she knew sent her for some reason to Grafton County. Who knows. Yes, there are several possibilities.

MM's father had some questions, for example, what time he'd (ST) been by the accident scene, but cannot find any information indicating he ever received an answer to his question except. We have a situation whereby 2 police officers...one active, one retired are at the accident scene and according to all publicized information, one ST as well. All in that short space of highway around the accident scene....all 3 appear between the hours of 7 p.m. and 8 p.m??? The Haverhill police officer appeared at the scene 7:46 p.m. and the SBD approximately 15/16 minutes earlier. No indication of when the ST dropped by. Based on available information, questions exist as to whether he was dispatched to the scene or whether he just happened by. Some info exists (public) that dispatch attempted to reach him for a 2-hour period of time during which he did not respond. This information appears in postings, articles, etc. Whether it is fact or fiction, I do not know. Much information exists regarding comments, actions of Haverhill officer and the SBD only.

From memory SP JM accompanied HPD to the next call
(after Maura's incident) to the "power lines" for another incident about a young lad who had run away from his private school in Pike.
