DW's mother has a very heavy accent. I have known and worked with people with heavy accents, and I have worked with the public for many years where I also talked with lots of people who had heavy accents, so it's not like this was something new. I had a very difficult time understanding what she said, and I think most people would too. I had to ask her several times to repeat what she had said. It is very possible that Sam simply misunderstood what she said. He did not say in any part of his post that he felt she was lying to him, he only proposed that she was lying after I told him that she denied saying the word "killed." I absolutely believed her, she said she never thought Maura was killed and would not have said that (she reiterated this a few times, so I did not misunderstand her). It would be easy to misunderstand what she said.
