Oh, and if that last sentence sounds pissy towards you, Snowy, I didn't mean it to sound that way. I like and respect you, so I hope it doesn't come off sounding, well, pissy.

you don't understand; several of us were present throughout the discussions.
years later, you've endeavored to take up the same task, but you're at a disadvantage for not being able to intuitively, or factually, flesh out any additional detail.

the possibilities you are considering are obvious, not unique; context and relevance cannot be read in hindsight as well as it was in real time.

i'm personally satisfied that nothing more could have been uncovered, as i respect and appreciate the hearts and minds that were engaged at that time; the rewind, especially by the most recent arrival of self-identified "investigators", is amusing. equally amusing is that you return to Topix for information and conversation. the place people love to hate.

then, as now, every nuance of every word and phrase is teased apart and injected with conjecture, but the MM wheel still hasn't been reinvented after 10 years.

i take exception to the claim that WN authored the Quebec posts because, as you know, copycat posters steal monikers and locations. while i suspected she was also posting as adagio, there is no proof.

one more comment, Sam, along with an added apology to you for being so short in previous posts today; i am too impatient with repetition.

you see, legendary stories created about MM's disappearance were perpetrated by an organized online presence of an apparently unrelated group of Murray supporters, and were swallowed whole by good people who came along to help, each in their own way.
those caring individuals were banned and shunned for expressing their concerns that fell outside of the "party line". fortunately, at least one of them has come back and posts to Renner's blog.

White Noise vigorously objected to the harsh treatment of these people, and questioned why this family's representatives were so unusually guarded and accusatory.

those anti-milk carton behaviors didn't make sense then, and don't make sense now, even if allowing for the fact that none of us walk in their shoes. whiston persisted for years in asking the hard questions that went unanswered, until JR verified some factual info.

the unoriginal, but million dollar question remains….if you or JR could finally get to the bottom of why MM was misrepresented by this group, when it might have been helpful for them to share, not hide information from the public in their plea for her return, it might go a long way toward understanding her plight prior to leaving her academic, social and family life before disappearing.
of course, if harm came to her apart from a reason for her running, then the questions and answers would be different.

I want to point something out from James' original post describing the geocities page.

In summarizing Ben's report, James wrote: "Three people were posting on Topix from Taunton, Mass, too. But one commented much more than the other two. On Topix, this poster went by the handle '[c]itigirl.'"

"Suzanne" (i.e., adagio, et al) was one of the other two.

I have to find a more efficient way to post the Where is MAURA MURRAY thread so it can be read by everyone else.

On this thread, Lauren didn't deny that she was Suzanne.

None of the elements in the geocities letter are original ideas. The geocities author created a summary of previously authored speculations and posted them in a way that made them appear factual. Minus the occasional IMO peppered here and there it is much like hundreds of theories posted on all of the MM forums.

In case I was unclear: I have seen no credible evidence suggesting that Maura lives in Canada. Therefore, I have no reason to believe that she does. If Barre or anyone else (perhaps the person who posts YouTube links on here) recalls a source which predates the geocities letter, stating that Maura lives in Canada, please share it.

Notice the last word in the quoted quote.

You have the old forum archives. I am sure all the goecities letter statements are in there. Anyone from the original forums will tell you that all of those statements were brought up almost from day 1.

IIRC, Suzanne was an author of sorts, not sure if it was ever verified though. Suzanne posted under several other monikers, but she was not believed to be one of the Murray cult believers. At the time, the Geocities letter was attributed to a certain Canadian poster, who claimed to be related to the Murrays.

Maura is NOT in Canada. That theory is ridiculous and JR is just doing this to gain publicity for his book. One of 2 things happened that night: She A. left the car, afraid of being caught drinking & driving, and succumed to the elements. or B. same scenario, only got picked up by 'the wrong person'. This isn't some conspiracy theory as people have chosen to believe.

The issue is not whether Suzanne is intelligent or sophisticated. It's whether she's observer.

Having said that, I understand that this is a delicate issue. I think we all agree that it's best to be cautious. When I identify Suzanne, I will not publish her name. Instead, I will contact her by email, explain the present issue, and ask for a comment.

Maruchan -- do you agree that this is the best approach?

Are you sure? I think the word is absurd. She COULD be in Canada BUT there is not one shred of evidence she is there.

What is funniest of all is that he has conned people into donating money to this ridiculous sign idea and yet there is no mention of him funding a dime of it. He actually isn't even willing to spend the money for the fee for others to fund it. I mean if I had a theory like that, I'd fund the damn thing myself, of course I would have to not think the "theory" (fantasy) was total bullsxxt. That's putting his money where his mouth is. Oh wait, no he isn't. He is willing to put everyone elses money there.
