citigirl wrote: <quoted text>Sorry Wowzer but I did do this many years back on the MM forum as well as here. There was even an article written in the North Country News after the 06 search with appreciation from our family with what good things the community did on Mauras behalf during that search. If it helps you sleep better at night then you keep telling yourself how you stood up for the locals against the bashing that went on. I don't remember you standing up and telling Shack and the other bashers that they were doing wrong. If someone had stopped it back then things might have been very different. We've gone over this not long ago when you came here full of compliments for the locals. The damage has been done. Your compliments have no meaning now. Negative? Yes I am. After hearing years of negativity about myself and my friends and neighbors it tends to make a person feel a little negative.

Off topic but what the heck: This is too funny at this point. I have no idea who you are, yet we frequent the same roads, places and trails. Makes me smile so very early on a sunday morning

My mission has always been to find out where and what happened to Maura.

And if they were in one of those back yards then they either walked thru the snow or shoveled themselves a path as I've never seen anyone's back yard shoveled out in that area. Wowzer maybe Im misinterperting your posting the wrong way. But it appears to me that you dont have much faith in your police department. Do police not search an area when someone is missing because there is snow on the ground? Does it matter if a person is missing and the area is not shoveled?

The night Maura disappeared they were looking for someone that left the scene of an accident and possibly DWI. They didn't know anyone was "missing" except for the person that left the scene and told the SBD not to call the police. I would think they would be able to see footprints in the snow before they wallowed thru deep snow. I didn't hear about any human prints being seen that night in anyone's yard so you tell me why they would be standing in the snow arguing in someones back yard. You still didn't say who they were arguing with. And.... if someone was really missing and there were signs they didn't leave on their own and didn't just leave the scene of an accident with booze in their car then I have faith any one of our PD would have gone thru the deepest of snow to find them. It was not known that anyone was "missing" that night. Just that they had left the scene of an accident. And a BOLO was sent over the air that night.

Wowzer I did not say anything against the police department. What I did say is I could be misinterperting your posting wrong and that is why I asked questions to clear it up. Someone did show up at the motel we were staying at and said LE was in there back yard arguing as to whos jurisdiction it was. Iam only repeating what I was told. It was stated by a neighbor within eyesight of the scene and even pointed out the area that they saw the footprints at to us the day after Maura disappeared. They thought it was the fish and game but the fish and game did not search until that wednesday after Maura disappeared.

My point about the Stage Stop - which I pointedly didn't identify for this very reason -is simply that Mr Renner seems quite objective and open-minded, and while I certainly understand being tired the questions, the reaction seems quite extreme. I'm really hopeful that a new person who doesn't seem to have any axe to grind can get through some of the emotion and find something useful.

Furthermore, defensive or aggressive behavior from anyone is by no means evidence of wrongdoing of any kind, but it's also foolish to ignore it as completely insignificant or irrelevant. I'm not at all saying that it can't be both, but it is possible that it might be relevant. Is that considered an unacceptable position, and if so, how?

Wouldn't it be nice if there was at least a slight respite from the bickering and perhaps a hint of an open mind which might admit that Mr Renner may not have an axe to grind. So far, his comments have met with some anger from virtually all "positions" - I find that very odd indeed. He has accused no one and has put forth no hypothesis at all.

Of course he doesnt have an axe to grind because he is making a profit by writing books on those whom have disappeared. He claims to be out searching for Maura and others whom have disappeared. The only thing is the people whom where out searching the woods with us for Maura was people from NH,Maine, and Vermont. Sorry Sophie but there was no Mr Renner out there with us.He just mysteriously appeared months back.

Citigirl, does it really matter that he wasn't "out there with you then"? If he is seeking and finds the truth, what difference does it make? None. I also am not buying that he is in this to make a buck - it is a poor way to make a buck if he is sincere as he appears to be about his methods. I have to say that if he actually finds out what happened, isn't that what almost everyone wants? If not, why not? It's possible that I could be wrong, but can having an open mind be such a bad idea? Why???

It is interestingly though that he was able to verify some things that were met with resistance for years.

All I know is I pray that someday Those involved in Maura's death will come forward. Her Parents couldn't even give her a proper funeral/service. She is still out there. NH screwed this investigation up from the beginning, just like they did with little Patric McCarthy who went missing October 13, 2003 in Lincoln NH, and was found deceased 5 days later. COVER-UP for both children. I pray for justice for both families.
