just me wrote: <quoted text> Why not make it easier for family to take her things away? Would you prefer that she haul boxes to the dumpster,--in order to believe she was done with school? Like James said, maybe there were things people would want back, want to have, etc. Maybe she didn't want to be seen throwing things away outside. Maybe she was too tired or didn't want to work that hard. Maybe she wanted to leave a "piece" of her behind. Reminds me of the emails she sent. I think they were sent to buy time. It still doesn't tell us what happened in NH though. Oh yeah and what about the "girls" at school being so worried that Monday night? Classes were cancelled due to the snowstorm.......I guess there may have been some kind of "group Monday night and she was expected, but why worry so much? Why did they report this? Could they tell she was in some sort of really bad funk?

She didnt have to buy time, she was a college student she could have missed classes for weeks and nobody would come looking for her. she had her cell phone with her so her friends and family who might be looking for her could call her. nothing Jr is stating is fact it is his opinion. does JR know exactly what was in those boxes? No. does JR know exactly what she brought with her? No

she can't be the considerate daughter who wants to tidy up before she leaves and the daughter who decides to abandon them for good.

No. does JR know exactly what she brought with her? No She had her cellphone with her....big deal. By the looks of the cell records, she didn't call but a hand or two worth of people since Christmas. Before that, phone cards. Did she have a trac phone? Maybe, maybe not. She had a phone in her dorm room. Her own dad didn't call her like they had planned,(and I can understand why not),~But you want to say her friends could have called her. Some did, family too. What good did it do them? She took off on her own and in secret, this much we know. I guess someone could have forced her to leave in some way, leave for somewhere that might seem plausible in the end. Her friends did come looking for her right away. And staff from both places said: Ms Murray sent an email that she'd be away a few days.....people let that ride until they started finding out she was missing from the scene of a one car-crash in NH. Had she been able to continue on, it would be a few days until they'd be on her trail and hot on her case. She was due to be in court mid Feb if I have that right. So if that's correct, they for one would be looking for her. I don't know what JR is saying about the boxes. I'll go take a look, as I don't often go to JR's site. But by some accounts,( like the dorm mate down the hall who was brought in to assess)--that room had been packed up. They were already missing her. BBL

Maybe the boxes were dragging her down. Nothing she wanted to bring IF she were taking off like she had often dreamed she might. Have you ever wondered how Maura found out that Billy took on Julies friend? If not by Julie herself, Maura would take that personally. I know I would. No matter how much the truth hurts, I'd WANT my sister to be the one to tell me. JMHO

That depends upon if she knew or found out that something in her dads crash could get her in trouble she wouldn't want to face....? I hate these kinds of guesses so I'm gonna go read whatever JR is saying and come back to reply. I just have a little time today. As for Vasi, Petrit really does not think Maura had anything to do with him and don't forget I talked and emailed with him for awhile some years back. Maybe Maura was letting another person use her car at the time. But, That call that came in closer to midnight the Thursday prior was from Billy, not somebody telling her that they had just hit somebody with her Saturn. Do I think Maura left her job to get coffee? She called the place earlier from the security desk? Maybe. The person who didn't want to get Maura into trouble.....well, could it be that they saw her either come/go/or simply away from her security post at the time of the accident.

To be considerate to a family she hoped to abandon? Check JR the e-mail was a few years old. That's some delayed reaction.

krome wrote: how did this person she was meeting know she needed help? If you're asking me to wonder, I'll give it a shot. Maura called a few places, seemingly looking to lodge alone. But suppose she knew she could hook up with someone who already had a room. Maybe they were just wanting to party, celebrate mardi gras, whatever, but who was already staying at a place she tried calling or looking up from Sunday night thru Monday afternoon. The hand written directions could have been found after the calls....in this idea, Maura would've finally decided to join them. OR terminate something and get back without much notice. Sleep in her car if she had to.... OR go get tickets in person to that comedy on the 12th OR go get a signature from that bookwriter who was in town. Whatever it *was*, would be hush, hush though, so when Maura didn't show up, they simply didn't come forward, or did and no one is about to confirm this. This would make that person a witness and they have rights. But let's say the person was following her progression into the area where they were either living in-or staying in. Her car wipes out because of the hairpin turn, nothing else. Something either went very wrong or she only had to walk around the corner to get into the car they were in that passed her once Butch left.

Check JR the e-mail was a few years old. That's some delayed reaction. hello, I am going over to read what JR wrote, but I noticed this delayed post. Here's my best try at realting to boxes dragging a person down. Say they were mine. I took them from college to college, some mattered in the moment, others not so much. Personal things too-like coffee mugs, trophies, pictures, calenders old and new. I might decide to throw them all away if I were throwing in the towel. Some people just don't keep all their stuff when in transit. My dad would take off leaving all his boxes, and just hang onto photos and/or other small things from his family.

And when he died, there were mainly clothes in them, cards, letters, nothing he'd want to drag around until he came back.. Being in the army for 20 years does this to a man who's got ants in his pants. He loved us, but needed his space more, freedom to travel the world. He was a spy in Germany during the railroad days, had his own secretary. He just couldn't commit and YES, it hurts when people are that selfish.

Check JR the e-mail was a few years old. That's some delayed reaction. Oh and also, some people will do the mundane daily things, going so far as to pack their belongings-even when they're checking out. If you're saying the email that was laying on box was too old to matter, all i can say is some sorrows never really heal. Don't forget Maura stopped seeing at staying with the coach abruptly, summer 2003. By fall, Maura was trying to devote herself solely to Billy. If a heart to heart revealed more than she could bear, then the email would be like a new wound indeed.

First of all, Mrs W-man "stopped looking" when she saw the sbd pull up. She took back parts of a few things she said. The stage shop owner said on a night like that you'd be lucky to see 5? cars go by. Well, there was 1) the cottage worker who says she drove by a couple cars there with noone around 2)people coming home from a meeting at the schools 3)people getting driven home from their stops after the ski trip 4)forgot who saw 4-5 cars vs other neighbors not noticing any cars 5)The school bus driver would have passed the stageshop too 6)the mystery truck with MA plates 7)the truck someone saw down a side road,(i forget who said that) i think they were walking their dog and heard noises in the brush or something like that 8)some other person who claimed to drive by and Mauras car doors were open BUT you see this combination is actually more cars out at the time, than the norm,~and who knows how many in all. there was also the woman who said Maura asked her to call AAA. Don't even ask on that one, it was quickly taken from the various accounts where they named people those first days.. BUT YOU ASK: Why didn't people see Maura get picked up? 0)(lol) maybe they weren't looking at the time 1)maybe she had to walk a ways first. 2)might have thrown herself in her own trunk *knowing* she'd get out and continue once it was quiet again.(sorry Jenkins, i know you HATE that idea-but it's still there for me. 3)might've stayed in the backyard (where they found prints), until everyone left the scene.(but then again they say police did those prints while arguing about jurisdiction)

Glad to see you back here, too. I strongly believe that the red mystery truck picked Maura up, whether friend or foe. And IIRC it was Detective Columbo who said here on Topix that a red pick-up truck was being observed some way up Bradley Hill Road with the door(s) open.

Ashlyn wrote: <quoted text> Exactly! Why do people so often ignore the clear facts?? It appears that you dont exactly comprehend what a fact is. just because it was written by JR does not mean its a fact. he is stating all these things as fact that just arent. He states as fact that she was intending to get a head start from the police and her teachers. Not only is this not a fact it doesnt even really make much sense. She was a student at a major university not a middle school. she could have missed class for months and the school wouldnt be looking for her and they absolutely would not have gotten the authorities involved. students miss class and stop going to school all the time and the school doesnt even call their parents. they give them an F and move on. if she was planning on running away for good for the previous 6 months she would not need to have emailed her professors This is easily interpreted as an intent to return to school. it doesn't mean she was definitely planning on returning to school but it means you can't say for a fact that she was planning on never returning. whether she was thinking of running away or not it appears she at least wanted to leave herself the option of returning. Shes in the process of making this gigantic move in her life of leaving all of her friends and family behind forever and starting a new life and she feels the need to stop in email her professors to make sure that her absences are excused? if this is the kind of.logic JR uses his book is going to be a laughing stock.
