Why is writing a book about a missing person "exploiting" them? Fred said he wants to "keep Maura's name out there". How does he plan to keep her name "out there"? What better way to do so than a book? You are criticizing a book u have not read. Fred has refused to speak with Renner. I wonder why? You are now obligated, I think, to tell us what exactly do u mean by "exploit". It's easy to accuse an innocent person of exploiting someone, but now please back up your accusation with facts. Thank you.

Citigirl, does it really matter that he wasn't "out there with you then"? If he is seeking and finds the truth, what difference does it make? None. I also am not buying that he is in this to make a buck - it is a poor way to make a buck if he is sincere as he appears to be about his methods. I have to say that if he actually finds out what happened, isn't that what almost everyone wants? If not, why not? It's possible that I could be wrong, but can having an open mind be such a bad idea? Why???
for once, i am nearly speechless. you seem willing to accept an ernest investigation by renner in search of the truth, and also allow for his apparent sincerity. his neutrality lends credibility to his research.
citigirl is fighting very hard against his efforts.

Wow.! You just won't stop. It really matters to you that this book not be published! We have to wonder why? What could Renner possibly expose in this book that would be so terrible? What's the big secret, the horrible revelation that could come out? It must be something that none of us know or suspect?

The same amount that has said Renner has solved cases. None

Does it really matter? Even if the answer is none wouldn't it be wonderful if this was the first case he solved?

I did not say that others were exploiting a missing person. What I did say is I could write a book and it is I who personally would feel I was exploiting the missing. Lauren when you see people are missing your heart goes out to them and there families. But when it becomes a family member your whole world turns upside down.

Citygirl, does Mr Renner know who you are and how to get ahold of you? He keeps putting his email addy on his blog so that people will contact him. Maybe you should get ahold of him. Maybe there's something you or your sister could say that would help him.
I see no harm in getting to the truth unless Maura is in hiding.....and then I think the book should be stopped along with all the searches.

good points, just me. it is curious that renner is regarded as enemy #1. still, even if she is found alive and well, a book about this sudden disappearance would be interesting. disappearances are solved reasonably quickly these days, given technical and media tools and access...often a direct connection from victim to perp. this one is a mystery.

I would prefer to say that her car was found there - not that "she dumped it there" - unless it is proven that she did that.

Snowy, I've been saying for years that I don't know what happened to Maura. I'm perfectly delighted that someone who has some demonstrable objectivity is looking at this case with fresh eyes. I wouldn't say that anyone to date has shown anything other than a certain understandable bias - not in itself a bad word. It is certainly understandable that Maura's family and friends would not want to see her character attacked - or even called into question - in exactly the same way that local residents in NH would not want to have theirs attacked. That simple fact hinders objectivity. I hope that he is able to find answers which haven't been available til now.

Proof of my therory. There is always a coverup, the local police always screw up the investigation. The most logical and likely possibility is discounted, there is always a conspiracy.
So are you saying that NH Police/ NH State Police and other Agencies are covering Maura and Patrics Deaths???

Why for God's Sake would they do that.

She is not alive, unfortunately. She is surely in the woods somewhere between 116 and Woodstock, far up where you would need to literally trip over her body to find her.
There was no abduction, she is not living with Hanibel Lecter or DB Cooper in Bermuda. She walked into the woods drinking and never came out.
Having spent days and days searching for Patrick McCarthy I can tell you it is like finding a needle in a haystack. And we had a much better idea where he would be than Maura Murray.
Whatever was going on in her head that night noone will ever know. She chose her end, someday some hunter or hiker will stunble over her body and perhaps there will be a note explaining why. Then we will know.
Had a much better idea where he/Patric would be ?? Do tell. Then why did it take 5 days to find Him.

wait, wait, wait, wait, wait!!!! you mean it's been ok for the character assaults on several strangers, fueled by "the family" in the name of MM? and even encouraging knocks on their doors to accuse them in person?
no....surely you are not saying it is so, SB.
i mean, any family would soon realize it is unproductive to pursue the repeated bashing of strangers in northern NH and then expecting...civility....in return. the point is that it doesn't work that way.

The people of Haverhill obviously tolerated Williams. For how long?
