for those of you who are local to Haverhill, do you recall the ice banks being high? My yard had very little snow in it that year until later in March actually. I'm thinking guardrail further up 112 damaging the side of the car, not a snowbank.

looking4amoose,
Interesting. If your memory is indeed correct, that would seem to invalidate Mr Rennerīs theory regarding how the Saturn ended up in the ditch shortly after the Weathered Barn curve.
About a possible guardrail encounter further up Rte 112 - if such an incident did indeed happen it might very well have been the cause of the unconfirmed "first accident", which has never been officially accepted.

Somewhere round here I have pictures of my yard the week immediately prior to Maura's disappearance.....you literally can see the grass in the backyard......not patches...but sections.....I'll have to do some searching...we didn't own the house then but were looking at it to purchase so I took lots of pictures

agree, and speculate that it's probable someone helped her plan and facilitate this end.

The idea of hitting a guardrail somewhere up the road is interesting, and is a plausible explanation for the unconfirmed first accident as well as some of the damage to the car. But rather than lessen the mystery, it kind of adds to it. Why would anyone have an interest in suppressing information about a first accident? And why havenīt even the PIs looked into this simple possibility. After all, she had a history with guardrails.

Strange anyone would claim there were snow banks if there were none. Wouldnīt the accident scene and a suspected impact point in the snow bank area (if existing)be documented, photographed or at least by a sketch or written statement? Stranger than strange.

I asked Renner if would kindly document his claim that the snowbanks were high that year. Renner never answered. IIRC, the winter of 2004 was one of the warmest on record, possibly the warmest.

Actually, her history with the guardrail in Hadley (the Corolla crash) was more of a problem with a badly designed intersection that happens to have a guardrail placed immediately in front of a blinking red light ACROSS Roosevelt from the stop sign at the end of N. Hadley Rd.

A few weeks ago, at night, I was driving south on Roosevelt through the intersection where the Corolla crash happened. A car from N. Hadley Rd (likely from UMass campus) sped through the intersection in front of me and took off south down N. Maple St. toward Russell St. I then thought about the Corolla crash and wondered where the damage was on the car. I always thought it could have been mostly on the front, maybe a little offset. But the car that sped out in front of me might have slid sideways into the guardrail and sustained all the damage on the passenger side of the vehicle. Not sure what this means, if anything, but thought I'd throw it out there anyway.

I was just reading the caaident report from Renners blog, evidence section.

A BOL goes out at 1700 something and at 1800 something Fred is calling the PD back to say it's urgent, he has some important information to give to CS. Fred asks for a cell # for CS, is told there is none and that the message would be sent back out again for CS to call Fred.

Then a "Carpenter" calls, Kathleen was not a "Carpenter yet.

Then This "Rita" person calls, claiming to be a relative making a welfare check.

Question:

WHO IS RITA?

Never mind, it matters, not.
Just looks like Rita was at home possibly when police called or was helping her brother out with the welfare check.

I just remembered something. Kathleen was living with Tim and his parents at the time, so the call coming in to PD would show "carpenter" on the ID.

So long everybody. I'm calling everything quits. With the recent death of my sister, I am crawling under a rock. My son is not doing well either with his mengianoma, mom is 88 with a pacemaker. My mother in law donated her body to the U of M, because she didn't want anyone to be put out with funeral costs. I'm never going to know what happened to Maura Murray and I'm sick to death of it all

Linda,
So very sorry to learn of your tribulations and sorrows and wishing you and your family all the very best.
You shall certainly be missed on this forum.
By the way, it would seem that even Mr Renner is getting stuck in his efforts to explore Mauraīs confounding case....
