Holy crap Beagle! That's exactly what I was thinking happened too. It was the bear that clued me in. They were really mad that someone tried to wake them. I saw that eggo monster too high in a pine tree just waiting for another car to break down or slide off the road. Scared me so that I wanted to race to DD's to get a peppermint hot chocolate and calm down. Phew!
I'm glad we're finally seeing the light on this, the true story.(And compliments, BTW, on your fine and subtle use of coded messages.) Gotta run.

That was recently discussed on this forum, and a local poster claimed the findings to have been determined unrelated to Maura. This particular poster was one I hold in high regard as being truthful and credible. But note, I wrote "reportedly". It wasnīt a mixup with the skull, this discussion was earlier than the news on the skull.
could you be kind to point me to the post?

Regarding State trooper J K-M, I have read various suggestions on various MM boards that he might have been off-duty at the time of Mauraīs accident on Rte 112.
Whether this indeed was the case or not is, as far as I know, a huge question-mark.
No confirmation either way regarding this matter has been forthcoming as far as I know.
Which, again, makes me wonder why this shroud of secrecy regarding the actions of the trooper is being maintained by the NHSP.
All this adds up to even more confusion and nagging questions, which might have no bearing, but none the less begs the pertinent question:
Why this seeming web of secrecy???
Eurobserver, here we call it an investigation, not secrecy. Renner already stated on his blog that NHSP are not releasing any more info. because it is an investigation. I'm just as curious, but we will probably never know.

So, basically we have four different and competing groups on this forum:
1. Those who more or less suggest that there is some kind of cover-up within the ranks of the Murray family regarding Mauraīs past and the events leading up to her disappearance and perhaps beyond?
2. Those who favour the theory of Maura as a run-away, either by premeditation or by default as a consequence of her NH accident.
3. Those who suggest that Maura fled from her wrecked car and by doing so perished in the cold due to "natural reasons", however horrible.
4. Those who suspect some kind of foul play, not necessarily excluding a possible rogue LE element.

It is interesting to ponder the fact that most private investigators involved in Mauraīs case do seem to lean towards the foul play theory, one way or other.
I wish that one or two of these PIīs would consider getting involved on this forum again, as has happened previously.

What if Maura did indeed get into a car - willingly or not - on Rte 112 close to the location of her wrecked car.
After a while she might have realized that she had got herself into a very dangerous situation.
Did she perhaps somehow manage to get out of the car and was she possibly the person running as supposedly witnessed by the construction worker RF some 5-6 miles east of the Weathered Barn curve in the vicinity of the Rte 112/Rte 116 intersections?
The supposed find of hairs and duct-tape in pretty much the same general area by a hunting previous poster on this forum (Matthew, IIRC) paints a potentially disquieting picture.
The alleged duct tape and hair to my knowledge has NEVER been verified as being a true story and I believe ( not 100% sure ) when the poster was pressed about this he or she fell of the map.

A witness claims to have seen someone matching Maura's description.
Maura was capable of running those distances. Maura still would have been tired. Maura still would have been sweaty. It was cold enough that without proper food, water to keep her furnace going. She could have very easily succumbed to hypothermia, especially if she was in "hide" mode, as it clearly appeared she was.(see earlier information to support that theory)
So we have the possibilities:
Using Occam's law. What do you come up with?
1.(horse) Maura succumbed to the elements
2.(horse) Maura was picked up by someone and dropped off somewhere
3.(zebra) Maura found the only killer in the area
4.(unicorn) Maura was abducted by space aliens.
Without further evidence, I'll pick the first one but the second one could have happened also. The third one is an outside bet but possible. I personally like the fourth one the most, but I consider it a real long shot.
Bill
There you go go starting crap, Picking on the poor innocent aliens, WTH you should know by now aliens ALWAYS return those they abduct. They returned Barney and Betty Hill didn't they?

And if you're ever really, really bored, there's always this handy little U.S. Government website chock full of court information.

But you have to be totally bored out of your head for hours, days, weeks at a time.

So if you've been struck down with chronic boredom, go here, you'll feel better.

I see where you're going with this. Everyone's entitled to their own opinion, but is there really any basis for the rogue cop theory, other than the "psycho babble" and rumors? With the prevalence of some of the tv shows Bill mentioned, people seem to think that cases can be resolved with the wave of a magic wand. The reality is that these matters are complicated and take time, often a lot of time. When a resolution isnt immediately forthcoming, the police suddenly become the bad guys and the inevitable speculation begins. They have a tough job to do, a thankless one. The old saying "no good deed goes unpunished comes to mind. I'm not saying rogue cops don't exist, I just don't think there is one here.
<quoted text>
I have to agree, Rogue cops are rare, ever since Drew Peterson gained notoriety the rogue cop theory's seem to have gained momentum. Cops are like everyone else, there's super dedicated cops, and there's some mail it in cops and those that fall in the middle. They also have to make judgement calls going on experience with certain situations and facts on hand and sad to say sometimes it all goes to hell.
The one case that I feel LE dropped the ball is Brianna Maitland, it was days after a Vermont trooper found her car that it was even brought to light, and the parents weren't notified immediately.

I also feel perhaps the state trooper in Maura;s case may not have filled out a report as it seems he just more or less passed by and Officer Smith perhaps felt his help wasn't needed at the time. If theirs nothing to report, why fill one out. The trooper may have just given a verbal briefing to his superior after it became evident there was more to the situation and that was it.

From what I have read, Fred did call LE but they shoed no interest in the knife so he mailed it to them and has not heard back.
That's Fred's rendition.......what do the police report about it and why not contact local LE (local to him, not the accident) to handle it?

That can't be!!! hanah said it was posted recently by a reputable poster (to be named later) and prior to this Hannah sent me this post about paying attention and learning.

Bill deserves lots of attention. He has been a tremendous asset to this and previous fora with his professional knowledge and intelligence. Pay attention, you may actually learn something.
