Lets say the clothes and tape were tested and they were determined to be Mauras and there was no information linking to anyone. Do you think they would release the info or hold it close to the vest until a suspect is identified?

I Emailed Mr Renner and asked him if he could look into the Duct tape.

1. Is anyone else disturbed that Maura's father was in college when he was getting it on w/her 15 y.o. mother? Does anyone know why they split up?
2. Why would she drive to her dad's hotel at 2:30 am and stay over?
3. Why wouldn't they take HER car when shopping for a used car? Even if it was in poor condition, it would have had trade-in value which would factor into how much they would need to spend. Why did they never buy a car if that was the point if her father's visit?
4. I have read elsewhere that she had to work at a gallery on Sunday. Was that typical? As an exhibiting artist, most of the galleries I have come across are closed Sundays and Mondays.
5. If she had planned to be gone for a week and she wanted to unwind, she may have wanted to partake in 2 of her fave drinks. If those drinks required multiple kinds of alcohol mixed, then her purchases were hardly excessive.
6. Makes no sense for a suicidal individual, or a person starting a new life, to bother bringing along her college textbooks.
7. Blocking the exhaust from escaping WILL stall out any compression engine. In fact some mechanics will lodge a damp rag in the tailpipe to check for exhaust leaks elsewhere in the system. The cylinders would not be able function properly w/o the exchange of the air-fuel mixture. Obstructing the output would cease the intake. Not rocket science-simple mechanics.

Thanks
Register with topix and you can hide but I don't think (remember if) you can change your location. You come up as Maine likely because that is where the server you are using is located.

I did register and it was coming up as woodstock until just recently. I read the section "help" in Topix and it says that its will pick up on your ip address and it won't always be where you are located. I have Time warner and they are out of Maine? Not sure why it changed. I'll try re registering or just let it go. Thanks for your help.

I can weigh in here because I was that age when my future husband kept coming around. They were all friends with my much older sister. I do think it takes a controlling kind of man to do this to a near child. I am working on a book called "Too soon"

AS TO THE DUCT TAPE AND MM CLOSING DOWN:

I recall a video with Maura's Aunt Helena on it, and it was soon pulled from cyberspace too.

But she said, and I quote, "based on what we now KNOW, I don't think Maura is alive"

oh and to whomever signed in as linda and asked for more fruit, not funny, ok?

#7 rag in the tailpipe, I had tried running many combinations of the phone numbers from the disappeared series. There is another grouping of numbers from another part of the series other than the numbers that Renner posted. I came up with an auto repair shop in I want to say the granby area. I will try and see if I can pull that up again. I am thinking that it is possible that she had someone look at her car just prior to her leaving on her trip and they possibly forgot to take the rag out. Quite possibly they used that technique to check for leaks.

Right. What bothers me is where her little brothers picture was in the book Not Without Peril. It was a matter of life or death. Or a sarcastic clue if she planned to leave everybody behind. I still feel that way about the rag too. Like....here's what you can do with this dad. Or up yours. So many little things in that car, and enough food for a short get away. The car had to be left once she could no longer drive it. If it was even her, that is.
The W-Mans saw Maura at the car 1-2 minutes before police pulled up, meanwhile across the street and up a ways, Barabara is telling the police they have no idea where the girl is. I believe the W-Mans, and I think Fred did too. He said "all they had to do is drive east and she would be with me now" Pretty profound statement for a guy who got the news late and had to drive through the night to get to Haverhill. I have asked before.
James Renner, this one's for you:
Can the rental car records be found for the time that Fred had the rental. Was ther GPS on the car, so that Fred's movements would be found? What I'm getting at is; suppose it could be found that he drove to NH, back to CT, and then back to NH.

You actually don't get to choose what server in your ip's company picks up your connection. At least not usually, so your location could bounce around. That is more the norm than the exception. Oh, yea, especially if you log in from different locations, even in the same town.

No problem.

I keep going over this but people still want to believe this myth. This might have been possible 80 years ago with low compression engines. Modern engines have such high compression that doing this is virtually impossible. The rag will blow out. Unless you are using concrete it is not possible to stall a modern engine with a rag. I know. I have tried it. I have tried it with rags and potatoes. IT WILL NOT WORK. TRY IT. I won't even go into the logistics of trying to stuff a rag into a smoking hot exhaust.

ok This is a big stab in the dark and I mean big but here it goes. On her phone Bill the last 4 digits of 9411 Amherst come up several times. Amherst has a 413 area code. When I search 413***9411 I get the following http://dresselsservicestation.com/index.php/e... . They are in Granby mass and that is fairly close at about 10 miles. I am not sure however if Granby would show up as Amherst on the bill. Granby is a small town

I have thought, and continue to think that Maura originally was trying to get away. I believe that she might have been severely stressed. This getaway was going to recharge her batteries. During this attempt to reorient her life and solve some of her problems including the previous accident, she had this accident. It may have been the straw that broke the camels back. It may have pushed her over the edge. She saw no way out. Smashed up another car, out in the middle of nowhere very likely while drunk, and almost certainly while drinking. Without mom, dad or any friends knowing she was there in the middle of the lie she told to friends and employers. She also had no way to contact them from where she was. She might have reoriented her goals and decided on suicide, maybe.

I didn't look at this that closely but punching that number in now might have no relevance at all seven years later. I know Connecticut and I assume Massachusetts has gone through a radical changing of area codes and local exchange numbers. All I am saying is that may not have any relevance to numbers seven years ago. Don't know, just for consideration.

I had wondered that same thing after I posted of when the realignment of area codes happened.

I just did an advanced search on the area codes in Amherst and Granby and they were both 413 in 2004

Granby might not show up on a phone bill as amherst anyway. I am not sure. I used to work for someone who resided in Granby. I might have old records because I was self empl and kept that stuff. I'll look and see.
