Is there a possibility of any cell phone coverage on that street?
Even now there's still no coverage. The only places in the area with coverage are at the top of Swiftwater Circle and on the dock at the lake in Mountain Lakes that has the beach. Heading out of the area, there's some coverage on Goose Lane as you approach the farms and on French Pond Rd. as you approach the intersection of 116.

Another load of crap. It was POSTED, six days later. I would expect that everything in the report is accurate and correct on that date that the accident occurred. Certain items needed to be investigated before the entire report could be finished and posted. It looks to me like he was being through. I suspect you will try to spin it as he was being irresponsible.
Bill
It was a simple answer to a simple question. It was filled out 6 days later. I am not trying to spin anything or place blame.

Bill....Please put your claws away and try to act somewhat civil. It would be appreciated.

You don't know where OPR is, or you are slightly disoriented. OPR is past the W's approaching from the East. I'm guessing the car came straight down OPR and up the slight incline to it's final spot, with very little steering needed. Yes, past the window FW was watching from, and heard the noise from, the south side of their house.
Any local would know this.
Have you actually been there? I drive by it several times a week and unless they have moved it since yesterday the red barn was still straight across the road from the W's house and OPR was still just left of the barn and before the blue ribbon. It's not past the W's. The barn, house and OPR are in a cluster on that curve.

If you knew the area and the road you would know that just isn't possible. Maybe you are the one that's disoriented.
Why after almost 8 years are you bringing up this new story about her car being on OPR? I have a feeling I should get my fishing net out to catch the red herrings.

I don't know where Det Columbo gets his information, it comes across as if he is in the know, but the facts are not as I remember them at all. Interesting.
Yes, interesting indeed. It seems that truth is not what some would like to hear.

Another possibilty is maura had no time to shift the car from drive to park if being abducted.
Yet, she was able to have a discussion with the SBD. So maybe she put it in gear to have the conversation with SBD but then took it out of gear to be abducted. Very enigmatic of her.

Could the thump FW heard be from OPR?Then the car rolled backwards.Maybe MM was chased or went down OPR for a reason and ran into fowl play on OPR hence the thump.Maybe the culprit layed low on OPR until SBD left?I dont know the layout like some of you.Maybe some of my thinking out loud might make sense?

I'm sure everyone has read this at least a couple hundred times but perhaps it bears revisiting. It's an award winning 5-part series about MM's disappearance. Part II is about the accident and is a good refresher. All 5 parts and other articles are still available on-line.

http://www.whitmanhansonexpress.com/extras/sp...

The article is pretty clear and you can follow along on Google maps with street view as you read the article.

Regarding the car reversing and/or being pushed hither and yon -- are any of these postulations in support of a particular disappearance theory, Walk Away, abducted by Un-sub or a suicidal walk in the woods? Why would anyone go to all that trouble?

If I were going to walk away with a secret lover I would abandon the car in a remote, uninhabited pre-arranged area, take all my valuables and the booze and make it look as if I ran out of gas, or got a flat tire... but not crash a car and deploy airbags.

Point taken.LOL.I'll try again. In Park chatting it up with SBD,trys to throw it in reverse to escape abduction but only makes it to neutral....Nahhh,Tow truck neutral makes more sense.I digress.

How refreshing to have a poster with some inside information but with his head screwed on right! My take on it is Det Columbo is here with an agenda and is deliberately once again threwing out red herrings. I just wonder why.

He may actually believe some of what he is trying to sell. That doesn't mean it's actually worth anything.

Good article and great picture for mcsmom to see the actual location of Old Peters Rd. The W's house is across from the barn just outside of the picture , The curve showing is their lawn.
Under the yellow sign with the two arrows you can see a plowed out area between the snow bank. That is OPR. It's not past the house but across the road from it and if Mcsmom thinks a car can be pushed or slide straight out of that road and with hardly any steering make it's way up the road on 112 then I would say that she and not me is the disoriented one. Even if you don't want to believe me pictures don't lie.

Another myth I wish could straighten out. She was not "military trained". Getting through a few semesters at the military academy does not make you "military trained". As someone actually combat trained, I use to train what we called "third lieutenants", West Point juniors. I can assure you, they are not, military trained. They have less military experience than anyone coming out of boot camp. So please. Lets not insult the men and women who go through and pass basic training by calling Maura, "military trained".

****

hannah says: someone she knew

Frosty says: someone who seemed credible

hmmm...big difference. the first suggests a family member, relative or acquaintance; the second, perhaps someone in uniform; t is more difficult to determine "credibility".
one might endlessly speculate; as mentioned previously, she might have come upon a woman or a couple.
impossible to know.
