Wowzer, Mate, I'm tired and I'm sort of done here but, in short, while there's an assumption I've not read the full history of the forum, it's a groundless one. I'm a journalist. I spend 90% of my day researching, 5% talking to people and 3% writing. The other 2% I spend in the pub. I have read the history here and I appreciate that there has been some abusive and unpleasant behaviour and language used and that threats have made people genuinely frightened. Wherever that comes from, it's wholly wrong. However, when people become impassioned about things on forums, some become insensitive. People happily type things they'd never say and some form opinions they'd be less likely to hold if they encountered things in real situations. Do I believe there's a conspiracy afoot? I certainly don't believe there's a conspiracy involving Maura's family, the police or anyone else. Do I believe innocent people have been hounded? Absolutely. I've read whole communities being slandered on here. However, at the heart of such abuse is the very behaviour I describe (IMHO) and I largely think it stems from one or two people who assume multiple online 'personalities' and fight with themselves online to drum up a battle of bile and hatred between others. All bullying and intimidation is wrong, end of. Accusing innocent people of murder is as bad as it gets. I can't say more than that. Other than, if people offend you, just leave. The forum isn't real. The only reality is a missing 21yr old girl but that's not your reality. You didn't know her. Godspeed.

Poppy, hope you are not actually "gone". I'm descended from Lawrences in England, I checked out about Claudia and that looks like as much of a puzzle (nearly) as Maura missing. People have different reasons for posting on these forums ... my personal reason is that these sorts of disappearances happen with unfortunate frequency and most commonly to girls and women. As a woman with sisters, a mother, daughters and beyond, I'm outraged at the number of crimes perpetrated against people of any stripe and against my gender in particular. I think I have a fairly decent brain, and if I can come up with any questions or ideas that could be useful to those investigating, I appreciate the opportunity to do so. I don't spend my life on here, just check in once or twice a day and I imagine that most others do as well. .

Wowzer the real one wrote: <quoted text> Gee they don't have ducks in the UK? You know they are the birds that have webbed feet and feathers. They swim around in ponds and poop all over everything including the water. They don't seem to mind swimming in their own poop either. They also waddle around biting the butt of anything that gets in their way. Strange creatures don't you think? Another strange thing is that someone comes from another country and jumps into a new forum (to them)and starts telling posters that have been here for years how they should act, going so far as to tell them they should set up a closed forum for themselves. You have no idea of the history and until you take the time to read all the past posts you shouldn't condemn anyone. indeed. raising my cup of fleur d'orange tea to the rich history shameless bullying of NH residents in the name of MM. a page was turned some time ago. can't fool all of the people all of the time.

mcsmom wrote: It was the last time she saw her. The next day, a Friday, morning classes were canceled due to snow. The following Tuesday, she filled out a report of her interaction with Maura that night and filed it with local law enforcement. She has never spoken to detectives working the case. Poopy great post. The above paragraph is what Maura's supervisor told Renner. It begs the question why did Mayotte report to LE, and why on Tuesday? I believe Mayotte was also a nursing supervisor. Perhaps she was a recipient of the death in the family email from Maura. Something pushed Mayotte beyond contact Two different people.

Pretending to be a hack while using 'text speak' will make you a laughing stock in any newsroom. And hyperbole doesn't actually mean 'emotive language'. Furthermore, your pants are on fire.

Actually, I misread the bit you quoted. That is hyperbole. Hyperbole rocks. Text speak doesn't. Hyperbole has never provoked laughter on my 18th Century poetry forums. Ever. See. A joke. Rather like your suggestion that, not having visited your 'special' forum means I'm naïve about forums? Weird. Now enough. No more responses.

Snowy wrote: <quoted text> don't twist it...i'm speaking from firsthand experience...of being "unwelcomed", along with others, during the Topix heyday. lots of hostility on behalf of the ducks against joiners. since then, it's fallen apart for them after original posters with good intent began to see tears and holes in the "party line". all in all, my personal observations over the years have become fundamentally aligned with whiston's quests for info about MM's life prior to her disappearance, especially because MM's "friends" and "family" on Topix have fiercely protected (and intentionally distorted) what little info could be discerned as facts. "red herrings" ~ Mason's pursuit. it is a mystery of longstanding with very few facts verified in the public domain. lots of damage to realtime "victims" of ducks in MM's name, however. and so we sit and wait. detached. the past is very much a part of the present. Suzanne might agree...along with a few more. enjoy our day. i'll enjoy mine. although i have been known to vigorously criticize him for delving into MM's personal life... Agreed, but I would take it a step further. The Murray family CHOSE to NOT muzzle, or even tone down, the vituperation of their proxy savages. The Murray family never distanced themselves from even the most vicious attacks, thus tacitly endorsing them.

You dare to come to OUR country and call one of OUR patriots crazy? Did we here in the U.S. trash Margaret Thacher? Stay home and drink your lime juice.(Besides, Sarah's still pretty damn hot!)

hannah_b wrote: Seriously, poppy. If you had taken the time to read every thread on every forum that preceded this one, maybe you would understand why the dislike of ducks and why newbies aren´t welcomed with open arms by all. There have been so many posters with so many theories they believe are new and outside of the box. They never are. Go do your homework and chances are you´ll get a nicer response. Unfortunately many of the old threads and fora are gone, but some are still available. Fora? Methinks you profess your Latin too much.

Helena Murray was the moderator, she read every post, she deleted most posts that wanted to talk about Amherst and she did not delete the slashers, bashers and haters. Also Laurie Murray said SBD was a liar. And FM insulted everyone within a 40 mile radius including the woman who let him stay at her house free, LE and the volunteer searchers.

Bumping for Maura wrote: I´m trying hard to keep an open mind as for what happened to Maura after her crash at the Weathered Barn curve on Rte 112 in New Hampshire. My impression, though, is that quite a few posters on this board are more keen on peddling their own favourite theory/theories, rather than discussing Maura´s case without blinkers and set ideas. Highly regrettable indeed! It sounds as if nearly every poster on this thread strongly believes - as a matter of incontestable fact - that SBD spoke with Maura at the site of the Saturn's crash immediately after the crash occurred. There are all kinds of disagreements and mud fights on this thread, but the real unifying factor here is the repeated statement/assumption that Maura was in fact at the WB Curve and spoke with SBD. Bumping - Do you absolutely believe SBD talked with Maura? If so, why? If you *almost* totally believe Maura spoke with SBD at the WB curve, where do you peg the probability? 99 percent? 90 percent? Pretty high, I assume? Thanks.

Poppy wrote: But Snowy....I shall be putting your words properly into print. Isn't that what you've always wanted? I came here to state my purpose and ask some open and honest questions. Thanks to you, it would seem I now don't have to. Further thanks go to other posters for demonstrating that such behaviour is confined to a distinct minority, that people do genuinely care and that the vast majority of folk the world over are decent and rational. The one thing I have left to ask, Snowy, is why do you do this? However, I suspect answering that truthfully would take you to a place you're too terrified to go. It's also midnight here and I'm maybe too tired to give you a fair hearing. Or maybe I fear finding the rabid self-justification coupled with outstanding social dysfunction too chilling. Thank you all for having me and good luck. I hope Maura found peace and that, one day, her family can too. Farewell. You are just too sweet.
