If the Saturn was indeed the crime scene -- inside or outside -- and wasn't recognized as such at the time... That might be a possible explanation for all the shenanigans.

What kind of fools do you take us for? Pictures? Seriously, you had 'body buddy's' look at pictures of a windshield and from that you draw this crazy conclusion? Maura found out Billy was cheating on her and maybe she wanted to "punish" him for this by calling on someone close to Billy to help her accomplish this. Maybe that someone failed to show up Saturday as planned. Pick a Beagle, any Beagle. But only one knows the P'sP.

For those that think Maura's accident was an oddity and more should have been done.... Yesterday we headed north to Errol. Driving thru 13 Mile Woods we pulled over to watch some wildlife. Three vehicle passed us while we sat. A little further up the road just beyond a slight curve the 3 vehicles were stopped and someone was getting into the first one. Down over a bank was a medium size car with VT plates upside down and pretty well totalled. And NO driver in it. They had climbed the bank and hitched a ride with the 1st vehicle. One set of prints coming up the bank to the roadway. We turned around a few miles up the road and headed back in time to watch the SP arrive, a tow truck come and pull the car up the bank and take it away. No fingerprints taken, no helicopters called out, no search parties called out and no FBI called. Just another day in the North Country in the winter and someone driving just a bit too fast to make the curve.

Det Columbo wrote: The SATURN is USELESS at this point....it might as well be crushed for what value it has now. The Saturn once it left the scene on the tow truck lost any value ( as far as the chain of custody ) unless it was followed by LE to Lavoies where it was stored. How long was it between the time Lavoie picked up the vehicle and LE saw it again? Was it inside a fence or garage? Did Mike go straight back to the garage or did he stop at McDonalds for coffee? Once the car was left outside for Fred Murray and his family to see then the vehicle lost all importance. The car was even offered back to Fred. That would have been convenient if He took it then Lo and Behold. Then NHSP wants the car taken to NHSP troop F for storage. Certainly some strange goings on with the Saturn. I AM NOT saying Mike Lavoie did anything wrong and I definitely don't think He did, I was just using the trip back to the garage as the first chain of custody (IF there was to be one) mistake. We know Smith remained at the scene for another Hour or more...so He didn't follow it back. John True, the car had the ability to be compromised and being basically not be secure in storage creates problems both investigative and legal. I am not real strong on the car being a crime scene seeing that Maura appeared safe when Mr. Atwood observed her and no one seemed to see or hear another vehicle stop. I think the NHSP are playing it safe maintaining custody of the car as one never knows what may develop. My bigger concern was lack of custody of Maura's computer which could have held a diary, research, or communications with other parties that could have shed some light on her mental state as well as any suspects just in case this turned into a homicide. I see the secure custody of the PC as having much more relevance than the car.

mcsmom wrote: <quoted text> Consider the possibility of the Corolla being damaged before/during the party. I agree with Beagle this direction to the hotel would have not been my first choice, but my first choice for a secluded intersection. Police report from Hadley accident accident, depicts the Corolla going nearly head on into guardrail. Whereas actual damage was passenger side. mcsmom, Those at the party thought it odd Maura had decided to leave the party at the time she chose to do so? It may have been possible that she left the party to meet someone? Possibly someone had driven from Springfield to meet her half way between Hadley and Springfield? Rushing around to meet someone, she may not have been as attentive to her driving? Possibly on her way back from the meeting she had been involved in the accident? While driving, reviewing in her mind what may have been discussed at the meeting, she may have become inattentive to her driving? She may have been reviewing, thinking about all of the details she would have to take care of Sunday and Monday in terms of planning the trip to Bartlett?

John sadly to say I think if there was ever any evidence in this vehicle it would have to be considered tainted from the scene. I do not hold Mr Lavoie responsible for anything. He only towed a vehicle back to his place like he was suppossed to do when towing a vehicle. The first photo I had ever seen of Mauras car was in the North Country News. If I am remembering right it was in April of 04. The media had access to this vehicle before it was taken to F troop months later.

They must have found something out after the fact that made them want all this stuff back. John

Citigirl, depending on which way the wind is blowing, SnowyB has three common standard answers: A) This is all just for entertainment. B) But, but, but she lied. C) I know all the facts, and you know nothing.
