wicki description of a forum: Forums prefer a premise of open and free discussion and often adopt de facto standards. Most common topics on forums include questions, comparisons, polls of opinion as well as debates. It is not uncommon for nonsense or unsocial behavior to sprout as people lose temper, especially if the topic is controversial. Poor understanding of differences in values of the participants is a common problem on forums. Because replies to a topic are often worded aimed at someone's point of view, discussion will usually go slightly off into several directions as people question each others' validity, sources and so on. Circular discussion and ambiguity in replies can extend for several tens of posts of a thread eventually ending when everyone gives up or attention spans waver and a more interesting subject takes over. It is not uncommon for debate to end in ad hominess attacks.

Snowy wrote: <quoted text> Shack, FC, EWB and others, repeatedly declared harbor inside knowledge about MM and her family, and/or claimed to be representative of MM's "family" in discussions on so many forums, were allowed and encouraged to smear the names of others (local NH residents and posters to forums) in the name of MM. the intent was to elevate the reputation and character of MM and tear down anyone who questioned the reality of MM's past and how it might relate to her disappearance. by not revealing information they claimed to know about MM, and by actively covering up what would inevitably become public information and knowledge, they chose to manipulate the public's perception of MM; a poor idea, and a destructive approach to public relations. heartfelt compassion offered to this family online by many, many strangers coming to these forums with interest, curiosity, and offers of utilizing their professional expertise would eventually be diminished by accumulated evidence of their campaign....lies by omission and outright misrepresentation of factual information. of course, some of these self-appointed warriors in MM's name never met the father, and all of them never met MM. Tom's harshly expressed words, after he probably began to realize various levels of betrayal to the public about this case, are an honest reaction to and a natural consequence of misleading and this offensive dishonesty. now that their pants are down, this same group of people are begging for compassion from the public for a flawed (not perfect), sad, and damaged young woman who has disappeared. they did not "protect" her in order to encourage public support...they made a decision to point to others to distract and blame. the shame points right back to them, not to Tom or anyone else who tires of the name/blame/withhold game. Snowy, I agree. Did you notice the icons on this post of yours? They're still out there, if not actively posting, they are definitely actively grading the posts of others.

Does anyone think that Maura was asked to leave school for the upcoming semester and she just couldn't tell anyone. She might have wanted to tell Fred on that Sat but wrecked his car and she never got to that conversation. Renner is going there with his recent post. Hannah alluded to this yesterday.

I disagree, it is not Snowy wasting everyone's time. It was MMM, under the tight control of Helena Murray and Fred that wasted everyone's time by putting them on the wrong track and steering them in the wrong direction and by withholding information and by outright lying. They were more interested in coverup than in finding Maura.

Looks like Maura's dream to be a nurse wasn't going to happen. If she did end up committing suicide, UMass should own up to some culpability. Above is from Renner. Now we are told if MM did commit suicide it's UMASS's fault ???? It's always someone else's fault, never Maura's. UMASS made her steal cc's ??? Is UMASS also responsible for her credit card thefts at West Point ??? When does Maura become responsible for her own behaviour?

Lots of Maura haters turning up here recently. A very sorry spectacle indeed. Are you really such perfect individuals yourselves, leading such completely blameless lives? Sanctimonious is the word and it makes me feel sick.

Sanctimonious is the word and it makes me feel sick. if you've been paying attention, overviews of the combined experiences of posters detail complaints about the history of the online endeavor to "Find Maura Murray" and its damage to local NH residents. public support, compassion and sympathy for MM were freely given until some folks have felt duped by a poorly formed PR effort to elevate MM and crucify others in her name. unfortunately, your inability to comprehend that moral failure and call it "hating" is off the mark. the more Renner uncovers, the more we know this is true.

Snowy, Whatever you say... But, that is hardly Mauraīs fault. She did not instigate any campaign against the local residents in NH. What her family and friends did or did not do is one thing, but Maura herself cannot reasonably be blamed for that. She deserves our compassion, whatever her family friends might have done one way or other. So, please, donīt bash Maura for other peopleīs actions or non-actions. That is my point. Thanks.
