It is speculative. Just like calling her a trouble girl is speculative. How do you know she was really troubled? Did she tell you? Maybe she decided to become a thief. Most of all we have of this girl is speculation. Now what we have from Maura shows a girl with many issues. You say she was stealing because of an eating disorder, and I say she developed the eating disorder from being sexual molested. Research shows their is a 50% chance of this happening. If her father didn't want to get into her issues before she went away raises my interest in his role in developing Maura's eating disorder. Keep in mind Mr. Maura had no problem blaming other people for Maura's disappearance. He is very good at the blame game. If he honestly thought Maura's problems developed at school he would have pointed his finger at the colleges. If the "athlete" eating disorder approach is what you want to use, than Fred would have blamed the schools for this. He didn't bring up her eating disorder because maybe he didn't want them to dig to far.

Tom, I don't hear anyone defending Maura for her actions. There were some poor choices made and it is not that uncommon for a 21 year old to make poor choices. There is no excuse for stealing someones credit card.There are definitely issues and most of us here don't really know her family dynamics. To say Fred molested Maura without having any facts to back this up is no different than saying the SBS grabbed Maura and had his way. I think it is more productive to keep piecing the information together to find out what actually happened.Everyone has skeletons in their closet and if you don't you are a liar or have no conscious. It might be prudent to wait for more information to come out (facts) before making a judgement.

John Interesting. I guess no one believes that there are still people who just work hard everyday, take care of their kids, try to raise them right, and pay their bills and don't break the law. What the heck is this with all this talk about skeletons in the closet? What kind of talk is that? Its like saying someone can wrong society because there's a chance that you did as well. Are you saying that people can't live a life of virtue? Are you saying that there are no decent people out there and everyone has a skeleton in their closet. Are you saying all College students are stealing cc numbers, and if they don't they have skeleton's in their closet. Its amazing as the more garbage that comes out about this girl the less virtue everyone else has by default? Whats next? She kills someone and then I have every one saying "Its not like you never thought about killing anyone before." Since you guys are all about skeleton's in the closet and this thread is about the Mauras dissappearance lets start talking about Fred's skeletons.

Just stating My take on the situation.
John I agree it starts at 50%, then you add the fact that she is spiraling out of control the secret may come out. How can you get help from being molested by your father without turning him in? She can't get help, and talking to her father about this problem really can't help because he is the culprit. If Maura gets busted by the law she will eventually break down and tell LE that she is like this because of her father. Thats a pretty strong motive to whack your daughter.
