I don't think it would have been possible to prevent her death whether suicide or accidental but it might have allowed the searchers to make better decisions on how and where to search leading to at least a more timely recovery.
Again though, this was the primarily Fred's fault. He got to pick what he wanted to share and he chose not to share anything useful, apparently with anyone.
