Unless you are Jewish.

I prefer to think of it as just being a decent human being. Doing for your family. Does that really require religion be involved at all?

Why didn’t all the local residents who witnessed Maura and/or the Saturn on February 9, 2004 just issue press releases about what they saw? They could have just had the printed release on hand and even placed copies in an acrylic box outside their homes with the written details should anyone have wanted to revisit the specifics. It would have saved everyone all around a whole lot of trouble and much negative speculation. Hindsight, I guess …

I wonder how effective that would have been considering several people were visited and their yards scoured over and over at times without permission being given. The classic definition of "stupid", the same people doing the same things over and over and expecting different results.

I guess when you're desperately seeking answers into what you perceive to be a time-sensitive disappearance you mightn't be aware of the fact that you're being insensitive or intrusive. Imo, it should be a wonderful reason for forgiveness by anyone/everyone on either side whether they're spiritual, religious or even agnostic.

Not only is this ineffective, it wastes valuable time and if the correct information was given from the beginning more effective searching might have been done. I don't think it would have been possible to prevent her death whether suicide or accidental but it might have allowed the searchers to make better decisions on how and where to search leading to at least a more timely recovery.

Again though, this was the primarily Fred's fault. He got to pick what he wanted to share and he chose not to share anything useful, apparently with anyone.

Bill,

You've said that you went by the accident scene in the ensuing days after Maura disappeared and it was clear there had been an accident at the site where the blue ribbon is/was tied around a tree. Were there skid marks or sheared off snow banks, broken glass or other indications that a car (the Saturn) had smacked into the snow or bushes?

Or was it just tire tracks from the tow truck and emergency vehicles?

Bill, please explain:

I thought you had said that LE was treating it as a another DUI Runaway at the beginning. What difference would it have made if Fred (assuming he knew) told LE that Maura was Bulimic and had charges of CC fraud against her three months prior.

What would LE have done differently? I am only trying to understand the connection.

Also Bill:

Where are you getting your info that fred didn't reveal anything to LE?

Was it directly from LE or from what has been said on the forum?

Again just trying to get a better understanding.

Thanks

Fred was probably completely in the dark about the CC issue and if there was an eating disorder quite often those closest to the person in dire need of help are the last to know. It wouldn't or shouldn't have anything to do with the manner in which LE carried out their searches, and it probably didn't.

I believe the only way to remove a post is to report it to Topix admin and write a reason why it is offensive and/or should be removed. So... it was either removed by the poster or another member by request. I don't think registered or unregistered posters can remove their own material.

I don't think there was anything there between the 2 replies. The system has seemingly had indigestion this morning -- maybe if you double post by mistake the system deletes your second message if it's identical?
Consider this

Never said any such thing. I have only gone by the report that the officer wrote and has been published.

There was a strong animosity that Fred had from the start with the police. Culminating in the lawsuit. I am basing my statement on the way he acted and the rift that started right from the start. He was very confrontational and didn't seem interested in what the police needed or wanted to do their job, it was all about what Fred wanted them to do.
