QUESTION FOR MM1 MM2 Members~ Where the personal items in the car in duffle bag/suitcase? Was this info ever shared? It appears a reciept for alcohol was found in the car - but not the booze. Her black packpack is missing - I am guessing this is like a jansport/type of backpack- odd - never fully described.. Anyway.. my point is - and someone brought this up before and now I am thinking this could be true.. She was in between places where she stayed so her car was like a locker.. where she kept stuff when you are in between places..she recently moved.. UMass students in her dorm did not know her.. *** i think this is key info Was it in a bag? I wont speculate until I get an answer. I watched 48 hour msytery show I taped on my dvr and didn't watch it was from August........ but.. This is important.. I hope the answer is she packed an overnight bag. She packed up her dorm. So where were her suitcases? In the dorm? Of COURSE she arrived with suitcases and not a hefty sack.. so where are they ? left at UMass? in the car.. or let me guess.. this was not appropriate to answer this type of questioning which.. well.. you do not talk in passive tense either unless you know someone is gone. available to all.

I am so glad the pink elephant is out of the room and we can now say that others have been in contact with LE. I myself.. would never... I did contact the mmm website of course because i was so moved by the case.
i still can't believe it was 3 or 4months or so until i even heard the song.. i had my pc muted and then i got headphones for a training online.. i clicked on the site.. i googled everywhere to find the artists I thought for sure it was sara mclachlan... low and behold. its JENNI BROOKS from Boston... breaks my hear everytime i listen but I can't stop listening so.. the young lady has talent.. and she writes and plays herself.. what a dreadful heartache to write that song......... but we all benefit.. its a gift.. the gift of music.. so few people can do that.. and get a feeling across.. it makes me sad.. but i can relate.. why others dont mention here.. i have no idea.. you cant have a heart and have that song get to your heart strings.. period..

until I hear from Elsewhere Briefly.. my guess.. I don't she is Elsewhere... Is it possible that the police planted a fake affidavit to get someone's reaction? And maybe that is why it's not "official".

There's a piece in some forum written by Helena or Sharon. Can't find at the moment, but it did speak of the pajamas that were found packed in the trunk. It's the only time I've seen that info posted by a family member. Anyhow, maybe I can find it, to answer about any luggage, suitcase, dufflebag. As for the receipt found in the car, Columbo spoke about that. The wine was not on the receipt even though sister Kathleen is quoted as saying that. Without a video or cashier statement to prove it, who knows if Maura even bought the other stuff that was listed on that receipt. We wondered how they knew the breakdown. Do receipts say Bailey's, or just a dollar amount? Lately I came across an article from Seventeen Magazine. Sara Alferi says she was not contacted right away and found out that her friend was missing from the media. If they really thought Maura went to work on Sunday, why wouldn't anyone be checking with Sara right away?

No big whoop, this is all it said about the pj's: at the same time, in her car, there were pajamas as well as a stuffed monkey that she had been sleeping with for 3 years.........these facts were brought to the attention of the police. http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search... In a nutshell, the dog (singular) used about 36 hours after Maura was last seen lost Maura's scent about 100 yards from where she was last seen. It has been reported that the dog(s) seen on the news appeared confused...kept going back and forth. I'm not sure whether this was the search 36 hours later or not. I am sure this is one of the things that people keep talking about that is entirely misunderstood. The dogs were not confused. It is almost never the dogs that are confused. The handler sees the dog lost the scent and they run a pattern to try to re-establish the scent trail. They do this usually in a form of grid back and forth either horizontally or sometimes in a spiral. To the uninitiated it appears that it is the dogs that are confused. This is not the case. This is a standard technique to re-establish a lost scent trail. Bill

Bill I am glad you brought this up because I had a question about the little NC girl. sorry but I dont have your email.. if the cadaver - not scentn dog. if the cadaver HIT on the wood chipper........ I know this is gross so sorry.. but if a dead squirrel or something like that got mixed up in the stuff chipped would the dog hit.. Or ONLY ON HUMAN..

Most cadaver dogs that I am aware of only hit on human remains. How they can tell the difference is beyond me, but that is what is claimed. This is not in my specific areas of SAR expertise but I am familiar enough with this that I feel comfortable in saying that. Not gross. Richard Crafts killed his wife Helle and disposed of her body that way in CT in 1986. I can still see her face in my mind from the newspaper pictures. Remember we didn't do it, they did. We just try to pick up the pieces, absolutely, no pun intended. Bill

Has LE ever made a comment about what was in the car? It does NOT look like Marybeth Conway ever went there. Perhaps.......... there were more items.. perhaps less. only someone in the car would know. curious... Please let me know if you have an article where LE - NOT a post on the internet.. I want FACTS- where LE posted what is in the car. I know helena posted a list. but unless its been addressed by LE we don't know if the family even got the full list because that would clearly be EVIDENTIARY.

I am going to go back..........with fresh eyes and only look at what LE does say. What LE does not say. Then see what is between the lines. going to take awhile. Scarinza - I think is totally on the up and up - I think he is protecting her - either alive or in death - I hope not the later.

Iforgot to post I did hear back from Kelly at Project Jason.. It is too hard to try to pass a missing persons day and they referredd it too close to crime victime day something like that. I was just thinking... LE really want you to think she left on her own and was upset... one of the kids that took their own life recently.. it was in the article that they didn't realize how final suicide was - they had put their cell phone on the charger and did some other mundane things before they hung themselfs.. sad.. cant imagine. breaks my heart. I do NOT think Maura committed suicide. however,.. maybe just maybe some of the belief in her PRE planning was just going thru the motions

Dawn, I do not believe Maura committed suicide or ran away, or is in protective custody. The information following these scenarios would have been available or leaked, or reported to family. These are my opinions only.

One more reference to multiple witnesses talking to Maura at the accident scene: WITNESSES told police she did not seem badly hurt and asked THEM to call a wrecker, not 911. When ONE OF THE WITNESS went to a nearby house to call police, anyway, she disappeared.(The Champlain Channel, Feb 20, 2004)

Seems to me that the author just wasn't very familiar with the case.
