Before anyone snaps on me for how ludicrous of an idea this is -- in Chicago, LE would have no problem telling someone not to post on a particular thread (which I would think is illegal, to tell someone where they can and can't exercise their right to free speech). LE here gets away with a lot - but we also had something like 40 murders last month alone, so there are different issues in different places. I'm not knocking LE.

not much difference between one topix thread to another....so it would be all topix or nothing, imo.

I think one of two or three scenarios is likely, and the most likely one being that a tipsy, bewildered Maura ran into some bad luck trying to evade the accident scene and police. The investigation was definitely not taken seriously enough in the first 36-48 hours by police, but I wouldn't go so far as to say they botched it. By whom? Not the slightest idea to even guess. I don't think she was stalked or her car sabotaged. Maybe someone monitoring with a scanner got to the scene first. Maybe some dirtbag just got 'lucky' and happened upon the scene at the right time. I believe she made it a modest distance from the scene before she gave up and accepted a ride realizing she wasn't going to make it far, or was too tired to fend off an attacker. Could've been a local, could've been a dirty cop, could've been someone traveling 'with' her (I highly doubt this, and if this happened then I think she is alive and well somewhere non one will ever find her). If she dies near the scene, I don't believe her remains would still be there, and I believe the searchers would've have found her a long time ago.

This is just a few of the ideas I believe after following this for eight years, and I've personally ruled some things out that I think are completely impossible or highly unlikely. I'm open-minded to anything as more information comes in, and rarely post here or in Websleuths because I can't deal with all the in-fighting. I can offer no new information but I can sense when people are being unreasonable and are making statements strictly for PR or political reasons.

Oh, I have no trouble understanding normal thinking when I see it. Unfortunately I don't see it very often. Thank heavens for the few that do think normally.
