with all due respect, why didn't Maura tell someone/anyone of her plan to leave UMASS so family or friends would know where to look for her? instead, she thought ahead to provide a lie to her academic supervisor.
Family never saw an email to her academic supervisor.I dont believe an abductor and murder allows you phone call.

Snowy, do you think that Maura was planning to kill herself? Run away? Not being rude, just trying to figure out if that is what you were implying with your last reply to CitiGirl.

See that---I've swam in those since 2004 and didn't know their name. thank you.

for everyone sending their hopes for the missing family members, its one of the many causalties that happen when our country fights for freedom. many consider it part of the job when they enlist. I take comfort in knowing that the two, if they've passed, died doing what they set out to do in their life.

Interesting....along the same lines as the video that wasn't released and, perhaps the letter to Billy (?). I suspect there's a specific reason why.....maybe releasing them would interfere with a possible prosecution?(i'm a nurse, not a lawyer--I could be wrong)

so, for the first time in 8 years you are disputing the existence of the email; evidence that she lied to excuse herself from her academic obligations.

and you now believe she was abducted from a location in the vicinity of UMASS...and murdered?

<quoted text>Frostman Iam talking about the night of Feb. 9,2004 when Maura disappeared. SBD had stated that the first person he had seen on the seen was a NHSP officer. He also gave the name of this person. One of the responders had stated the search to the east only went to the end of BHR on 112 because there were no visible foot prints. One responder said that CS said maybe she went to visit a friend at the Mountain Lakes .While headed toward the scene of the accident. They also said they saw some one walking down near the Eddys.{unknown who this person was or if it had anything to do with Maura} Another person responding to the scene also claimed to see some one walking on 112 toward 302 {unknown who this person was or if it had anything to do with Maura}

I think we should set up a Survey Monkey type thing here since there's no new info.......Here goes.....
A) Maura met up with foul play on 112
B) Maura met up with foul play following her leaving the 112 site with someone she knew
C) Maura ran away and is living somewhere else
D) Maura met up with foul play prior to arriving at the site on 112
E) Maura went off into the woods to take her own life
Voting is now open
amy ~ L4M has simplified enough to prompt some thoughts, although i still don't feel i can commit to a strong opinion without the benefit of more established facts about her life and relationships prior to her disappearance.

1) imo, she made a <plan> to leave UMASS, and the lie about a death in the family is evidence of forethought.
2) knowing <why> she chose to leave is critical
3) was a hidden romantic relationship a person and situation to run toward? and away from her personal problems?
4)) was the Vasi hit just coincidental? or did it relate strongly to her meltdown and need to run?
5) what kind of "trouble" was a friend referencing in the early interviews?
6) i don't believe someone close to her....one of her sibs, her father, or Billy's mother would not have been aware of some distress in Maura's life; after all, she already had to leave WP and find another academic program, with all attending issues surrounding financing her continued education, integrating a major at transfer, and forming new social relationships at UMASS.
7) how significant were any physical and/or emotional issues in her life to factor into the motivation for or make her vulnerable to disappearing? or considering suicide?
8) i remain suspicious of the strong, focused PR agenda promoted by her family and family representatives, both online and in the media to sell the image of "The (perfect) All American Girl" to the public while disallowing mention of facts and circumstances that might have impacted her disappearance.

taking these points into consideration, i'd venture my best opinion that her life was unraveling and/or becoming unmanageable; her sudden, unannounced trip following a meltdown would more likely be an escape from a person or situation, and not taking a reflective sojourn.
the likelihood of meeting up with foul play at the scene of the crash in Haverhill seems remote, imo; she refused help, which, again, suggests she was implementing a <plan>.

it seems easier to exclude than include possibilities for her disappearance, given there is no physical evidence of her being abducted from the crash scene against her will, and her person/her body remains unrecovered.

JMO, weighing the possibilities....most to least likely

Citigirl has provided us with the first real piece of news here for a very long time.
Apparently someone was seen walking west on Rte 112 towards Rte 302 on the night of Mauraīs crash at the WB curve.
Now, witness RO encountered the "mysterious" red pickup truck checking her out on Rte 112 in Swiftwater village (while she was walking from her home on Bunga Road to the village store on 112).
When RO was returning home from the store NHSP trooper JKM stopped his vehicle (unconfirmed whether his private vehicle or his police cruiser) and briefly spoke with RO, saying according to RO "Oh, itīs you".
Their encounter must have been on Rte 112 between the Swiftwater store and the Bunga Road intersection.
Clearly, trooper JKM was looking for someone on foot, presumably Maura.
So, Citigirlīs new information about a witness having seen a person walking west on Rte 112 towards US 302 (unknown where along 112) is very interesting in this particular context, as is the observation of someone that night walking near the "Eddies" of the Wild A-suc river, presumably by the covered bridge in Swiftwater village.
Perhaps Maura ran/walked west instead of east?
But, then how come the tracking dogs lost her scent at the 112/Bradley Hill Rd intersection?
Still doesnīt make any sense, unless Mauraīs new gloves were not giving off enough of her scent to assist the tracking dogs in their quest.

It makes me always wonder why this "new" information comes out eight years after the fact. And by wonder, I mean, is it bullshit? If not, why not release it eight years ago?

Again, to refresh everyone's memory. The dogs do not track Maura. They track Maura's scent, rafts of skin that fall off of her. That scent travels on the breeze, a particularly convoluted breeze on the road a couple of days later.

This informtion is confusing. A BOL was issued that night for the responding units but there was no mention of those responding units seeing anyone walking.
Why would two people responding to the scene not say anything about seeing someone walking. Doesn't make sense.

I asked an honest question. Now I'll see if I get and honest answer. I heard the scanner that night. I didn't hear any mention of responding units seeing anyone walking.

Bill,
How would you rate the result of the tracking dogs quest to trace Mauraīs movements?
Does it really tell us anything much at all except that Maura at one point likely walked from her car up to the intersection of Rte 112 and Bradley Hill Road, and then perhaps back to her car for whatever reason?
Iīm genuinely interested in your opinion on this point.
Thanks!

I'm confused. Are you the same citigirl on Renner's blog? Didn't you say that she ran away because of the Vasi hit and her father not forgiving her for leaving West Point? If you aren't the same poster please let me apologize for the confusion in advance. If you are the same poster what is making you change your mind now stating that she was abducted and faced foul play? I may be new to this forum but I have done a decent amount of research in this case why would this be mentioned now on a forum?
