Sprint is one of the worst carriers to have from Concord North even today. There is no coverage including roaming in swiftwater area even today with sprint. I know this from past experience but have also attached a coverage map :http://coverage.sprint.com/IM PACT.jsp
This is not a fact and only my opinion but I have always wondered if Maura had moved around to try to get a cell phone signal.

I am sure she would have tried to move to Find a signal but doubtful she would have found one. I had that service when I lived in the southern part of the state and it was non existent coverage when I was in the mountains in my sales job.It might be possible at night that you can just get that one or two lines to get a call out but doubtful with sprint.

I currently have us cellular and I really would have to make it to beaver pond to make a call going east from the crash site.

Orinally I was unaware of this. I agree with you. This is why my sister and I ended up getting a calling card. There was no cell phone signal where we were staying and we found it cost less money when making a long distance call by using our calling card.

<quoted text>mcsmom. I would suspect the Boston Globe was extremely cautious in their quotes. Funny thing I would say it happened a few minutes before 7 and others who heard would say 7 or a couple minutes after.---------After all these years, I still know of many that discuss it and have opinions, varying from wanting to disappear to 'grabbed' by someone, to safe house, to 'white slave', etc...I do not believe I have not heard suicide in several years. Trying to be objective here, the majority think she died at the scene or shortly after. It remains sad to not know.
Putting this to bed after this, but since my posts are being ignored I have to re-iterate: the same story that says Maura's accident was "around 7pm" also says "Before heading north toward the White Mountains, Murray withdrew a few hundred dollars from an ATM machine, packed her cellphone wall charger and her favorite stuffed monkey into her Saturn, and e-mailed her professors to tell them she would not be in class all week because of a "family problem."
But the problem is, Maura said there was a "death in the family" in her emails not that there was a "family problem." So, no, we cannot fully trust BG's details.

Anne, you say in a different post that you had previously INADVERTENTLY stated there was a search for Maura around 7pm. Does this mean the "around 7pm" thing was a mistake?

Wow, that's very interesting that all the early reports did say around 7, I stand corrected.
I guess the question is whether or not this was shoddy journalism but in one o the articles on projectjason.com it has a quote from the Haverhill chief stating at or about 7pm...hmmmmm
This whole thing is odd.
Again, how confusing can one simple, one-car accident be?
How could the cops possibly give such conflicting reports.
Something seriously wrong is going on here.
Can anyone find one other case of an accident that has so many co fusing statements/inaccuracies?

CS didn't know the roads in 04?? And by 2010 he's chief of police of Haverhill?! Wtf is going on up there?
I'm sure u can say a lot of things about cs but he's a good cop isn't one of them. His report is full of inaccuracies, he didn't have anyone search east & he lied to the family the next day.
What did this asshole do to get himself to become chief?
Did he take part In a coverup?
Something is majorly wrong in havehill Nh.
Smells wicked fishy to me and I would think to anyone taking a truly objective view this.

Anne now I'm confused. Are you saying there was a 7pm search for Maura? How can that be if the alleged first accident didn't happen till 7:03?

& it's actually been years and years of talking about a second accident, this was talked about by me and others on the orig MM list, before it even became mmm.

I also find it highly interesting that LE states in one of those articles that they think that she might have been traveling in tandem with someone else.

<quoted text>This is true. Years back while searching for Maura we would talk to the locals. There were some of them that were unaware of Mauras case and that she had gone missing from 112.
I am still very curious as to the brand of bag she has. If anyone happens across it or can find out it would be greatly appreciated.

It´s odd there´s never been a detailed description of what Maura was wearing, just jeans, dark coat, possibly a backpack.

Your right Hannah, very odd.
I also find it very odd that the family released old pictures of her. Look at the pic that was on te fliers they out up while searching, it is a pic of her from west point.
Look at the pic of her when she got busted in Amherst, they look like 2 different people.
No wonder why the sbd thought she looked different, those were 2-3 yr old pics when she clearly wasnt as thin.
I find that so strange that the family did that, shouldn't it be more important that u find your daughter then to make sure she looks cute in her pictures? She looks great in those pics, wicked cute, but not accurate to what she was most likely looking like when she arrived in Nh on feb 9...

Sorry that's based totally from memory of what was said on the old mm forum, I may be wrong but I'm 99% sure that's what it was.
Sorry I don't have a link, I don't think that site even exists anymore, if u type it in it just takes u to the mmm site which just says black backpack.
Which i also find weird, shouldn't they know what brand backpack she had?
If they knew it was black shouldn't they know the brand?
I thought they did and did say it years ago, but why not Have it posted?

the only places with a signal are the very top of Swiftwater circle (the end toward the crash site), the dock at the lake, and as you said, Beaver Pond. You have to go into town for anything else reliable

Has everyone viewed the pic the Amherst cops took of her when she got caught using the stolen cc?
First of all it looks nothing like the pics we've been showed of her.

Second of all it looks like she has a black eye!
The more I look at it the more I can't deny it, she had a black eye that night when she got popped.
What's up with that?
I think that throws a whole new light on the investigation if she did have a black eye.
But looking at the pic I can't think of anything else except she did have a black eye...
Who was this new boyfriend of hers?
Does anyone know who he hung out with day to day in her last months at UMass?
I think that this info is what's going to break this case

Does anyone have the full text of this document? Thanks in advance.

At the MULTI-AGENCY CASE REVIEW MEETING it was stated that:

1. Very shortly after the accident had occurred, a passerby stopped and offered
assistance. Maura seemed to be uninjured, and refused assistance, and stated that
she had called Triple-A to come tow the vehicle. In fact there was no cell phone
coverage in that area and Triple-A was never called.
When the passerby stated that he was going to call local law enforcement to come
and assist, Maura pleaded with him not to call the police.
Investigators are also aware of some additional stresses that were occurring in
Maura’s life at the time of these events to include a difficult long distance
relationship with her boyfriend in Oklahoma.
At the accident scene in Haverhill, there were no signs of any struggle, or any other
evidence, which would indicate that a crime had been committed.
At the time of Maura’s disappearance, there was approx. 2 ½ feet of snow on the
ground. Searchers were able to easily distinguish deer and moose tracks in the
area, and the snow cover greatly assisted the searchers in eliminating possible
area’s where Maura could have traveled off of the main roads in the area. The snow
greatly aided the search from the air, also due to the fact that any person who
would have wandered off the road and into the woods would have left a trail that
would readily be seen from the air.
To date, there have been 5 air searches with the New Hampshire State Police
Helicopter.
There have been searches with Bloodhounds or K-9 search and rescue teams in
the area surrounding the accident site on at least 4 separate occasions.
The area in and around the accident scene has been extensively searched on the
ground. This effort has been co-coordinated by the New Hampshire Fish and Game
Department, which is charged with all search and rescue efforts in New Hampshire.
State, local and Federal law enforcement agencies have been involved in the
investigation into the disappearance of Maura Murray.

2. Investigators believe that Maura was headed for an unknown destination and may
have accepted a ride in order to continue to that location.

Wowzer, Please be clear with this, I am not the one that said there was a second accident, although I believe it is a possibility. I only said I listened closely because when the radio said, car slid off the road and they were looking for young female, I immediately called my friend whom Ive always said lived on hill road, because there was no answer I was sure it was her after description. There were snow squalls earlier in the day at my house and where she worked so she had taken the long way home.
