Your right Hannah, very odd.
I also find it very odd that the family released old pictures of her. Look at the pic that was on te fliers they out up while searching, it is a pic of her from west point.
Look at the pic of her when she got busted in Amherst, they look like 2 different people.
No wonder why the sbd thought she looked different, those were 2-3 yr old pics when she clearly wasnt as thin.
I find that so strange that the family did that, shouldn't it be more important that u find your daughter then to make sure she looks cute in her pictures? She looks great in those pics, wicked cute, but not accurate to what she was most likely looking like when she arrived in Nh on feb 9...
How do you know these where old photos? How do you know how old those pics were? What makes you say it was an old pic from west point?

Sorry that's based totally from memory of what was said on the old mm forum, I may be wrong but I'm 99% sure that's what it was.
Sorry I don't have a link, I don't think that site even exists anymore, if u type it in it just takes u to the mmm site which just says black backpack.
Which i also find weird, shouldn't they know what brand backpack she had?
If they knew it was black shouldn't they know the brand?
I thought they did and did say it years ago, but why not Have it posted?
I mostly agree. I was just wondering if anyone was 100% sure, or if it just looked like a Jansport. Just trying to make a connection to older comments I've seen that allude to a namebrand even though I've never seen it officially said what the brand was.

There's been several contradicting statements made very recently by two posters here. I just don't understand why they would completely contradict their own words that they said in the past.
Very strange.

First of all it looks nothing like the pics we've been showed of her.
Second of all it looks like she has a black eye!
The more I look at it the more I can't deny it, she had a black eye that night when she got popped.
What's up with that?
I think that throws a whole new light on the investigation if she did have a black eye.
But looking at the pic I can't think of anything else except she did have a black eye...
Who was this new boyfriend of hers?
Does anyone know who he hung out with day to day in her last months at UMass?
I think that this info is what's going to break this case
agree; info about her life at UMASS is relevant, not irrelevant.

I've been re-reading several different forums. A few posts made by fallon416 @ WS stood out to me, namely:

While I had the car photo open in Photoshop something caught my eye that tells a little more about 2 accidents instead of just 1. I have attached a cropped photo that is blown up a little to show 2 other small dents in the hood that are inconsistent with hitting the snow bank and the folding of the hood. You can see in the picture where I have a red circle at the top of the photo that the dent there is in a downward motion as if something had fallen on the hood. The middle dent that I have circled and the first one that I have circled show a direct line of something being hit and thrown onto the car. Snow would not do this.

Why should anyone know what brand of backpack she had? She wasn't a 3rd-grader ... her folks did not have to buy her college things for her, and probably didn't pay any attention to what her backpack was except noticing the color. This would be true of just about everyone she knew, IMHO.

Putting this to bed after this, but since my posts are being ignored I have to re-iterate: the same story that says Maura's accident was "around 7pm" also says "Before heading north toward the White Mountains, Murray withdrew a few hundred dollars from an ATM machine, packed her cellphone wall charger and her favorite stuffed monkey into her Saturn, and e-mailed her professors to tell them she would not be in class all week because of a "family problem."
But the problem is, Maura said there was a "death in the family" in her emails not that there was a "family problem." So, no, we cannot fully trust BG's details.
Anne, you say in a different post that you had previously INADVERTENTLY stated there was a search for Maura around 7pm. Does this mean the "around 7pm" thing was a mistake?
BB, I was not clear using inadvertently that sentence. I was making reference to when I first learned that the person was still missing from that night and joined the MM sight and then inadvertantly mentioned the 7 chatter from that night. I was taken aback that it created a stir since I figured hundreds had heard it and it was a fact! Is that clearer?

Well, technically the 7:27 accident would be the 'second' accident; the sliding off the road would be the first one. Time doesn't allow for a first one to be reported and responded to by LE, and then resolved, imo, unless harm came to Maura at that point and the second scene was staged. Not putting that theory forward, just seems like the only logical kind of thing that could have happened if there were two accidents within 30 minutes of each other.

This means Maura was within 200 FT of POSSIBLE cell service.

" THE ACCIDENT, THE SEARCH She was not injured, had apparently been drinking and had refused medical and police attention. This according to a witness, Butch Atwood, who lives on Route 112 and about 200 feet where the woman had crashed her vehicle. It was he that called police over her objection and when Haverhill Police Sergeant Cecil Smith arrived on the scene a few minutes later, she was gone. Her 1996 black Saturn sedan remained, still holding Ms. Murray's personal belongings, some mixed bottled beverages, a boxed wine and a soda bottle refilled with some type of alcoholic drink, that was dumped out onto Route 112."

Just look at the pics, it's pretty easy to determine.
First of all the pic is most definitely from west point, look at the shirt she's wearing. It's clearly a khaki shirt that has a collar, exactly what the uniform at wp is.
Look at the other pics. We have one of her wearing a beautiful blue dress, looks most likely like a prom pic. The other pic has a professional background, looks exactly like a senior pic. While u can get pics like this incollege, I've never known anyone who actually did.
There was a few pics of her with Billy that I would hope were more current but it doesn't look like it to my eye, just look at em. She clearly is heavier and still has to big, wicked cute chipmunk cheeks goin with the huge dimples.

Now look at the pic of when she got popped for using the stolen cc, WAY thinner, like way thinner.
Citi-since you seem close to the investigation maybe u could enlighten us as to when the pics were taken.
I can tell you the one that's on the mmm site right now looks like her prom pic.
The one in projectjason.com (which is the pic that was in her flier according to that site) is clearly a pic from wp.
Since you actually knew Maura, did u ever know her to commonly wear a khaki shirt with a collar?

What was this family trying to do? Find their loved one or make sure she looke wicked cute in her pics? I admit, she looks great in this pics, but I can see why the sbd thought she didn't look like she did in the pics.
Those were taken a couple years before and several pounds heavier.
If you can show me that those were current pics I'd be happy to admit I'm wrong, I hope I'm wrong because that speeks to the families intentions/concerns here. Almost seems like they were just as interested in maintaining her image as the "all-American girl" as they were finding her.
Isn't it the first rule when trying to find anmossing person is to provide up to date pictures?
Prom pictures, senior pictures and such aren't gonna help find your daughter, sorry but there not.

On previous post here recently there was the story about radio communications in certain areas and how it was supposed to be upgraded soon.

Maybe because of the coverage and the location of the saturn communications were nil to none in that area as well. Just a thought.

Could there have been cell phone communication between GCSD or another officer that evening enroute to the scene. Possibly a 3 way call between GCSD and 2 officers. Thinking out loud here.

Simply Sarcasm,
That´s an interesting quote there.
Apart from possibly being an indication of a "first accident", it might also bear some relation to the Petrit Vasi hit-and-run case in Amherst a few days before Maura left UMass for NH.
It´s not inconceivable that the Saturn could have hit Mr Vasi, whether it was Maura or a friends of hers behind the wheel.

"Should" might not be the right word, but it is surely not inconceivable that someone in the family might know. Maybe they did buy her one. Since she is a regular backpacker, maybe they bought her a really nice one and not just a standard college backpack. Maybe she didn't have a lot of money to buy one so they bought her one. I simply want to know if anyone knows the brand or could find out. I'm not surprised if no one knows for sure, but it would help me if so.

Im sorry maybe my wording was confusing bc I never meant to imply that she had a black eye on feb 9. It's possible she did but I would Have no way of knowing that.
I think it was my wording, I said the night she got popped, meaning busted for using the stolen card.
I guess I shouldn't have used slang there but it just comes out, my apologies.

But that doesn't change the fact that if she had a black eye in nov she might've had one in feb. Could that b a reason for her needing a week away?
Bigger question would b: who the fuck gave her a black eye??! If that is a black eye, which i 100% believe it is, That's the question that will solve this case.
Who was this new guy she was supposedly seeing?
Who did she hang out with on new years? Was this guy there?

That pic puts this case in a whole new perspective from where I'm sitting

hannah,
We don´t know that for sure, but it could be indicative of Maura possibly having an abusive, "secret" boyfriend at the time.
Perhaps abusive enough to make Maura flee north?
Possibly being followed/pursued by the same theoretical "secret" boyfriend driving a red pickup truck with likely MA plates according to witness RO.
Just speculating here...

That is a very low quality dithered picture. There is no way you can call that a black eye.
