Amy, you make me laugh! Your input is great. I just want to add a couple things here. It is possible IMHO that SBD, whom did not give the same description in different public venues, gave rise to the Maura-look-a-like theory.

Dick Guy is a long respected individual whom is
assuredly accurate in his statements concerning the scene.

There are definite inconsistant staements that have been made and certainly differing official documents.

Human error could explain all the inconsistancies easily, the question is should we accept that?

RO searched for a couple weeks for the red truck because LE did not seem interested. It haunted her, I'm sure. After she interviewed the SP who she had seen at the scene for a course she was taking. She was a reliable witness from that night, I believe.

Re: the mistakes, there are SO MANY sloppy, really sloppy, mistakes in these documents that I think they'd be trying a little harder not to make so many mistakes if someone in LE is responsible for murder. I can see where Columbo is coming from on this one, I just disagree. Not telling anyone else what to believe, just my personal opinion after looking at all of it. I just can't believe anyone is that stupid.

The Maura-look-a-like theory is just ridiculous on so many levels. If you're going to kill someone, you do not go to all the trouble to stage an accident in plain view of nearby houses and know - in advance - that someone will be passing by to thereby produce a look-a-like (who you'd need to find in advance) for that purpose. You abduct and move on. I kinda think some of these guys must be smoking something when they come up with this stuff, but again... that's just me.:-)
