Hi all, what could the towing charges have been, maybe at a stretch $100.We were told it was to cover storage fees.I have never met MrLavoie but I cannot imagine anyone charging to store a car for someone that was missing and maybe dead unless he had a reason to stick it to the owner just as L.E has done since day one..take care philip

He towed a car from an accident. Do you know his contracted rates with insurance companies? How about with the Town? Because that is what this was. The insurance company usually pays when an accident is involved. Now if Mr. Murray didn't have insurance he probably did him a favor and reduce the bill. Do you realize how many times tow trucks probably have to tow cars from accidents where the people have died?

Hey are we certain that Fred actualt said the squaw walk statement? I've always just taken that as fact but then the other day I read something that made me think maybe he didn't even say it, I'm trying to find it right now. Basically it wad saying that Fred never actually said that directly to anyone in LE rather they said they heard he said it from on of his family members, & that family member says that she & he never said that. So what's the deal, are we positive he said that? Seems like a really weird thing to say, especially considering the fact that according to him andrhe rest of the family maira never expresse any suicidal thoughts to then, actually the opposite. She's always described as being a really happy girl, always having a huge smile on her face an laughing, sounds like she would have been a fun girl to be friends with. So if she was so happy all the time, always smiling, and never expressed any suicidal thoughts where would Fred get something like that From? The old squaw walk is what an old Indian woman would do when she was of no use to her family anymore. Well Maura was 21 and described by him as smart, happy and productive. Something does not add up here. If she was anything like the family and Fred describe why would he ever think she went on a squaw walk? Makes absolutely no sense at all. Did anybody else in the family think anything like that? If you watch interviews w the family in the first weeks of her dissapearance it sounded like they all thought she rsn away, they were making pleas for her to come home. Knowinnwhat we do abou her personality & what Shes said in the past that makes sense. The squaw walk comment makes no sense. So what's going on here? Did he even say it? Why did he say it? Is Maura really nothing at all like her family describes her or is something else going on?

MERELY arrested? Anybody arrested for ANYTHING? Regardless of whether or not charges were quickly dismissed or dropped because no crime was committed? Or maybe they were arrested because they opposed the Vietnam War? Or because they conducted a civil rights sit-in at a Woolworth's? Or they protested at a Planned Parenthood facility? Or maybe it was later found that the dope they were too quickly accused of possessing actually belonged to someone else, so the charges were dropped? Or maybe they were convicted wrongfully, like all those people now released by the work of the Innocence Project? Wow! Did you investigate Martin Luther King, Jr.? Maybe he drove past the weathered barn in the 1960s. He was arrested a bunch of times. Get him, too! Oh, King died in 1968? No problem! Tar and feather him like the rest of those your posse rounds up. You must have been hugely disappointed when Richard Jewell and Stephen Hatfill were finally cleared by the FBI. So in your amateur investigation, you, like Renner, have decided to just throw mud anywhere and everywhere you can? You damn well know whose name is going to be connected to someone of the same name in Springfield. This is what Renner writes, in the first person, about the non-conclusion of his "investigation" into the murder of Amy Mihaljevic: "Note to the Killer: I hope there were times during the last two years where you felt me breathing down your neck. If you're feeling secure in the fact that I couldn't catch you, don't get too comfortable. Smarter, more experienced journalists will be looking over my notes in the near future. We both know your name is in there somewhere." ********** Yup. Somewhere. Among all the names of the innocent people Renner could get his hands on and smear for life, there might - might - be the name of a truly guilty person. And the gang of duty-bound "investigative journalists" that he predicts will follow him will hunt down... someone. Anyone will do. As long as it gets good press and helps deliver another book contract. You're just like him, Whiston. You and many others. I'm surprised you're not a "true crime" writer, or a so-called "investigative journalist." Just so you know, there are some people who may have possibly been arrested in the past for a crime they never committed, or committed in all good conscience. Maybe they get cleared. There's a big difference, since you don't seem to get it, between arrest and conviction. But go right ahead, Harry Callahan, make that person's day. Hunt him down like a dog.

There are people named Marotte living in this street address. Re the red truck, it has been said on this forum the driver was idīd by LE (donīt ask me when or by whom), anyone know if this is true?

When was that talked about on this forum? As far as I knew the driver of the red truck is still a mystery. Identifying the driver could be crucial for this case IMO, if not as a suspect then as a material witness. We have one witness placing him driving toward the accident scene at the exact right time(about 10m before smith) and we have another witness placing him on bhr out of his truck at the right time as well. This guy could have seen something that's really important to the case. What if he saw her get into a vehicle but has never come forward because he never knew she went missing. He could have parked on bhr and been walkin over to assist her ad saw her catch a ride & never thought of it again. The fact of the matter is that the vast majority of citizens in Nh have never heard of Maura or have any idea she's missing. I'd say 90%+ have absolutely no idea. Everyone I've ever spoken to about this up here has been absolutely shocked to find out a girl went missing and still has never been found

This was a couple years ago. I guess it could have been part of the ducks vs weasels warfare, and could possibly have been intentional misinformation. IIRC, what was said was the driver was known to LE, and the red truck should not be made a big deal of. In light of recent discussions, I believe it could have been posted by someone wanting to divert posters attention from the red truck altogether. For a reason, no doubt... I think that sounds kind of like when frmLE said that the hair and duct tape found by the hunter is nothing. How the hell could this guy possibly know this unless he's an investigator working the case? He can't Its not like a former cop can just walk into the SP barracks and request info on evidentiary findings because he used to be a cop and he wants to know, don't work like that. Any posts on topix where the poster is claiming inside info from LE should be taken with a giant grain of salt, like a HUGE grain of salt

Has anybody else heard the rumor that LE does, or at least has, suspect McKay's buddy Floyd as having a connection to this case? I've heard LE was digging on his property a couple years ago looking for evidence related to Maura. I also heard that maura may have known his son & that one of her last emails sent was to Floyd's son. Anybody else ever hear anything like this? If true that shines a whole new light on this IMO. Floyd is a scary dude plain and simple. Anyone ever hear what the owner of the Franconia general store had to say about him when he was in there the following day after the Kiki kenney incident? He was pissed because she had sold out of all the newspapers with his story in it, the one where they call him a "hero". Well after se said they sold out he said "I'm the one who killed that kid" She said that he spoke about it as if he had killed a rabbit or something, she was definitely freaked out about his comment. Does anyone have any sort of reason that Floyd &/or McKay should be eliminated? These guys were scary individuals, both of them sexist fucks & dangerous people, it seems like this would be right up their alley. I'm just wondering if there's a legitimate reason to eliminate them besides he was a cop or a cops best friend. They basically drove around the north country listening to their scanner and harassing people. Floyd would have heard the whole thing on his scanner. He would have known there was a girl who was missing and possibly heading his way. I really hope that it's true LE really gave a good hard look at these 2

I also heard Maura may have emailed with Floydīs son. No idea if thereīs anything to it. I canīt give a reason they should be eliminated other than being too ugly. Why should Maura want to keep in contact with a guy like Floyd jr? I could buy into the part where father and son drove around harassing people and found out about Maura on their scanner, but the emailing part I find harder to believe.

ok so the rumor about the email is defintetly not true then. Thanks for clearing that up JWB. How old is he now? DO you know JWB? When I heard the rumor it said that he was 19 at the time, but obviously. Honestly the whole part about her communicatfing with his son just didn't make sense to me either. Even if he was 19 how the hell did he meet Maura in amherst? Haverhill is not very close to Goshen either. Also it makes no sense that Floyd would kill some girl his son knows or that they would kill her together, I just don't see something like that happening. It sounds like it was Floyd and McKay that were partners in crime, not Floyd and his son. Ive never heard anything about any wrongdoing by his son Thats exactly why I was asking what everyone thought about that rumor, I didnt think it sounded right.

I would hope fred didn't sign the Saturn over for a hundred dollar towing fee. IIRC he signed the car over to Lavoie about 1-2 months after the crash and the SP took it as evidence after about 6 months. I dont understand why Fred wasn't jumping up and down for Le to do forensice testing, like Brianna's parents were in the first weeks following the dissapearance. It makes no sense for him to sign over the car, especially if he really thought some dirtbag took her. What if he had helped her, or pretended to help her with her car? What if he moved it to the side of the road for her or something? What if he put his hand on the roof of the car when talking to her or what if he had her pop the hood? his finger prints would be right on that front hood, but not for long if left out in the weather. The point is that car potentially held some valuable forensic evidence. Im pretty sure that they did a forensic examination when it was brought up to the SP barracks but that was 6 months later after sitting out undesecured at lovoie's. Most messed up part about the whole scenatrio is the fact that if lavoie wasn't a good guy that car would have been long gone by the time LE came for it. Most tow drivers would either send that to the auction or fix it up and sell it first chance they got, they need the money and they took that as payment for a tow, thats business. That was very nice of Lavoie, and showed some foresight on his part. If he Thought she jsut got lost in the woods he would've gotten rid of that car in 6 months, thats loss of time and space in his storage lot. He kept that car because he knew it was potential evidence and thats why he gave it to LE without complaining or going back to Fred for money. I just can't believe Fred didn't want that car, you would think that he would pay for it first chance he got and then have it towed to a safe spot where no one can touch it until a proper forensice examination has occured. I would also think that he would yell and scream until an exam took place. Even if she thought she might have been suicidal you would think he would want to make absolute certain that car got saved, just in case she got killed. Unless the police took it the only way he could be sure the car was safe is if he paid the tow and took possession of it. As soon as he signed it over to Lavoie it could've legally gone anywhere, Lavoie could have sold it the next day and most tow companies would have sold that within 2 weeks. SO why didn't fred want a proper forensic exam done? Its pretty clear that at the behinning they though that she had ran away, which makes sense knowing what we know about her. Even if they thought she was running away with the way the car was found like that they must have thought there might have been foul play, it is obviously an option and a girl all alone out in a different state raises the chances dramatically because she is so much more vulnerable, expecially in such a small and crappy car through the mountains and hills of vt and nh. They had to have known it was a possibility she got killed. Why didn't he want that car saved for forensic evidence earlier than it was? Why does it seem Fred really didn't want the car examined forensicly?

From MMblogspot, scroll on down to read everything Scarinza had to say. For lack of posting room, I'm going to pick and choose the important parts of Scarinza speaks, posted Sunday, January 8th, so here goes: Since Day 2 of Maura Murray's disappearance, John Scarinza was on the case. he was the point man for the investigation and probably knows more about the details of her mystery than anyone. I caught up with him awhile back for a lengthy interview. "I got the call at 6 a.m. on Wednesday morning from the chief of police in Haverhill," recalls Scarinza. "They had a car accident. But they didn't find a driver. The car Maura was driving at the time was registered to her father, Fred. Haverhill P.D. tried to contact him early on Tuesday, but only got the answering machine. In the meantime, the police obtained a search warrant to open the car and examine the contents. Inside they found a box of wine, a book about the dangers of the White Mountains (Not Without Peril), and a receipt from a liquor store. "She had purchased Kahlua, wine, and a six pack of Seagrams. The box had splashed all over the car. The bottle of kahlua was not there." Around mid-afternoon Tuesday, Fred Murray called Haverhill P.D. "What I was told was that the first thing out of Fred's mouth was,'She's gone to the North Country to commit suicide, to go off and die like an old squaw." Scarinza and the detectives of Troop F began to backtrack Maura's last few days. They quickly learned about the phone call she received while on duty at Melville Hall Thursday night, four days before her disappearance. The call was with her sister, Katherline, but no one can recall the specifics. "We have never understood what caused Maura to be so upset." They took to the skies to try to find Maura's tracks in the snow, or maybe her body. Scarinza, himself, rode in a helicopter. Fish and Game assisted. The helicopters had heat-seaking cameras. "I remember seeing a gorgeous red fox that stuck out like a beacon down below. Deer stands. You could see great detail. You could see human footprints. There was good clean snow in the mountains and it had not snowed since the crash." But there were no footprints leading into the woods around the site of the accident and no sign of Maura. Later that Wednesday, they brought out the blood hounds. They gave the dog a scent article from the vehicle. "The blood hound went 100 yards East down the road, then appeared to lose the track. Does that mean she got into a vehicle? Perhaps. Does that mean it wasn't a scent opportunity? That it had been too long to follow? Perhaps." I take into consideration the family's thought that she was coming up to kill herself. But what was the initial catalyst to make her want to do that? And what happened when she got here? My sense is that she is not still alive." Scarinza continued that train of thought: "My sense is that she might have gotten a ride. But we don't know her ultimate destination. It's interesting that her backpack was missing from her car. That some liquor was missing. Until we know for sure what happened, we're going to treat this case as if she was a victim of a crime."
